19.01.2022 Its a very strange feeling when its coming to the end of my duty as the principal of Ru-Shi Childrens School. Its hard to say good bye but Im confident because a strong and supportive team will continue serving the school; Im sad but more proud that our students will further develop their great potential through the unconditional love and care provided by our beautiful teachers. Over the last three years, Ive been through ups and downs with the school but Im so grateful that so many young volunteers and parents are always there for me. The kids from the school teach me to always look for the bright side of life and strive to be a positive and inspirational leader/educator. Ive gained so much personally and professionally. I couldnt say thank you enough but only wish everyone all the best! Love you all ---Joyce

17.01.2022 Thanks to our Junior Class teacher, Agan, she has created a Chinese textbook tailored for our talented junior students. We are looking forward to seeing all the last year students and newly enrolled students back to school this Sunday. Just a friendly reminder, due to the charity event "Lantern Festival held at the temple this Sunday, the kitchen will only provide light lunch for our students, however, we encourage you to try some of the gourmet vegetarian food sold on the day. Sorry for the short notice. Agan20172017

10.01.2022 A New TermA New Start. 729HSKHSKHSK On 29Jul, RuShi Children School has officially began a new term! In order to better understand students proficiency in Mandarin Chinese, the teachers decided to utilize the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (or HSK for short). The HSK is Chinas only standardized test of standard Chinese languag...e proficiency for non-native speakers such as foreign students and overseas Chinese. The HSK assesses students listening, reading and writing ability. The teachers hope to use the results from the exam to better prepare materials for the students, tailoring to their needs. From this term on, Buddhism lesson is mainly led by Venerable Ding Yi. Firstly, the Master taught the students how to properly greet a Buddhist Master called wn xn (). The greeting is a traditional Buddhist greeting, which involves joining palms together, prostrating, and saying with a sincere mind Amituofo. Afterwards, Master Ding Yi taught the students a popular and fundamental quote from the Buddha: To avoid all evil, to cultivate good, and to purify ones mind - such is the teaching of the Buddha. The quote is the fundamental essence of Buddhism, and is the basis of all the methods of cultivation (e.g. meditation, chanting sutras etc.). The students learnt how to pronounce and write the quote in Chinese, as well as having a basic understanding of its meaning. Both the students and the teachers were able to take away something from the lesson. A new term signals a new start. The teachers hope that the students are able to discover and learn something new each lesson. Furthermore, the teachers themselves also grow and mature alongside the students. As the Chinese saying goes, It is never too old to learn!
