12.01.2022 LET ME TELL YOU A STORY not so long ago , two little boys were born, only 2 days apart, now these 2 little boys could not have come from 2 so very different ba...ckgrounds . these 2 little boys , grew up and as they did , they both developed a love and a passion for motorsport, they did everything they could to be involved, their paths were slowly heading towards each other, but they did not know this . they raced , they grew, they both gave motorsport everything they had. Now one of these little boys ,after winning a championship in open wheelers, became involved with a motorsport Acadamy, he became the face and the example of how to become a driver, he drove for the academy , and finally drove their top of the line , customer sports car, and did an amazing job. Meanwhile , taking his own path the other little boy had grown up as well, and was also headed towards the motorsport academy.Achieving many milestones as he went . Finally their paths met and the two of them, found themselves , driving for the same academy , and eventually , they both drove together , in the Phillip Island , 101. these 2 little boys , showed the world what they were made of, leading the race , right to the end , they came 2nd , and the Acadamy were oh so proud of them, What most people didn't know was that , one of these little boys , who started the race , was racing against , some very professional and seasoned drivers, but the start of the race was one to go down in the history books , the owner of the team , stood back , watched the start and all they said , was "sweet". now after the change over when the other little boy took over , and he was racing against , v8 drivers, no one know that he was driving blind, all the lights on the dash and steering had gone out , he had no way , of knowing , what gear he was in, or anything , that ran off his dash or wheel. This little boy , (remember they are both only 21), took the car to the finish , blind , and kept the pace , just coming in second behind a well known v8 driver. The owners of the motorsport group , had tears in their eyes , knowing how hard the race had been for these 2 little boys , and how hard they had pushed themselves , when they had so much going against them. for some reason , which i am yet to understand fully , they had a 1 minute 14 second pit stop. now the reason for this little story is that , in the bathurst 12 hr i can understand bringing in top drivers, as it is a world class event ,i do it myself , but for a normal gt championship race, i feel that the spirit of the race and category was lost , when , people don't have faith in the gt drivers and want to win , so badly , they bring in v8 drivers , which i easily could of done , but chose to have 2 young boys, from the academy who , drive gt , and development series (having driven gt the year before ). They are the youth of our sport and a part of the category , i have brought in gt drivers for rounds from overseas, when i couldn't find a driver ,(and these drivers had no impact on the championship points) but they were gt drivers, and we were racing 2 cars, now we are racing one car . i am not a bad loser and wish only the best for the winners, but need to get it out there that i am so proud and so is my husband who now owns our gt team, of our two little boys , racing against , drivers who are in a category which is seen as the pinnacle of australian motorsport, driving blind in the second stint , and still coming 2nd., and not using the problem as an excuse . boys , Richard and Jack, you have come first in my eyes , you are wonderful , polite and have no reason to think that your efforts ,and performance was anything but perfect, think of the drivers who you drove against, my two little boys , and realise that soon , you too , will be looked at , by other little boys as the best of the best . Thank you for a wonderful weekend , thank you to our amazing team, and Barry Ryan who pulls it all together. thank you to my husband daniel who has gone on this wonderful journey with me , dispute his own health problems , you all make me proud to be me, proud to have you in Erebus , and just proud to know you all. congratulations to the winners T Quinn and G Tander congratulations to everyone who raced at Phillip island in all categories , it was an amazing weekend .
