23.01.2022 Today I was having a conversation with my youngest daughter about this project, as it has just come on her radar. She immediately saw the incredible value of such a project. I think as a community, because of our fragmentation, that we have not had the opportunities for passing on wisdom and customs through the generations.... I was thinking about this the other day when I was reminded about how my aunts, my mother and grandmother taught me how to do things like cooking, sewing, knitting, gardening, cleaning and crochet. And I recognised that I had not made the same investment in my own children. This galvanised me into action. This project is so important, so necessary, because sometimes we need a catalyst to take action. As I was sitting beside my best friend of several decades, she told me how she had wanted her mother to do a book of her life so that when she passed they would have the understanding from her perspective of the family history. Her mother for whatever reason has not done that book. And how now, my friend has decided that she is going to do her story for her grandchildren so that they know where they came from. This warmed my heart to hear, that I had inspired her to take action. I will let you know how her project goes once we get started. Do you have something that you know in your heart is really important, some wisdom that you would like to share with the next generation? Do you see something in the world around you that needs attention or it will disappear? Legacy looks like many different things, but one thing is common. It has value. 14.01.2022 Another fabulous session with the girls today in the My Signature Style Program for Young Women. This week was about exploring the world of taste. So proud of the girls who joined in the blindfolded taste test activity. For some it was an area of fear and they had the courage to try things they thought they didn’t like or didnt like. I asked the girls today how they would rate the program on a scale of 1 to 10. Those present said it was either a solid 9 or 10 or unable t...o rate because it is too valuable to put a number on it. Got to be happy with that feedback. The girls are working hard on their assignments and we are hoping to host a show and tell showcase of their work in September. The feedback today is that they feel this course is really valuable, intimate and helpful in discovering themselves. They also loved the level of interactivity, as the course is really about stimulating self-awareness through experiential learning. I am really grateful for this opportunity to encourage independence in these young women. #100Women100LegacyProjects
