25.01.2022 Have you heard the news? A brand new Australian-first scheme is offering households free solar and battery systems - you just pay for the electricity produced at a low fixed rate. There's a huge waiting list for this scheme, but 100% Clean Bellarine is offering locals the chance to 'skip the queue' and be amongst the first in Australia to benefit! All you have to do is register for a free local event at https://bit.ly/2HALugR
25.01.2022 There’s still time to come and chat with us at the Bellarine Community Farmers' Market, we’d love to tell you about how to access a great deal on solar for your home, business, club, school or community facility.
22.01.2022 Judith Brooks is another local solar crusader. She had 12 solar panels installed at her home in Barwon Heads 6 years ago, motivated by rising electricity costs, and a sense of social responsibility. The advent of renewable energy needs people to help with the transition, she said. Judith purchased the panels in 2012 at a cost of $7,000, and saves around $800 a year on her electricity bills. She is also looking into battery backup as a means to create greater savings and will be attending the Geelong Community Solar Program event at Barwon Heads Senior Citizens’ Club on 3rd June. Already got solar panels but want to add batteries? Be like Judith and register for the event by clicking on this link https://bit.ly/2HALugR

14.01.2022 Barwon Heads local Karen Weaver is spearheading 100% Clean Bellarine, a project that aims to power the Bellarine with 100% renewable energy. Inspired by Victorian towns such as Newstead and Yackandandah that are pursuing 100% locally generated, grid-connected, reliable, affordable renewable energy solutions, Karen will lead a local team who will plan to map out a similar strategy for the Bellarine Peninsula. I’ve been privileged to work in the environmental sustainability ...sector for my entire career and see this as an opportunity to work on something in my own backyard that will benefit my children and my children’s children, said Weaver. The 100% Clean Bellarine project was voted as a flagship project during consultation for the City of Greater Geelong’s Community Zero Carbon Action Plan. Weaver has applied for funding via the City of Greater Geelong’s 2018 Environment and Sustainability Grant Program to develop a feasibility study and short-form business case. Should the funding application be successful, she will form a project team and launch a process of community and industry consultation that will determine the footprint for the project.
