24.01.2022 Interesting lol

24.01.2022 What an absolute sweetheart! Welcoming Stormy, this lovely grey has come in for training to continue his education under saddle. I have a feeling hes not going to be much of a challenge Annette Gale

24.01.2022 With great thanks and in conjunction with Valmont Farms we are happy to share this video overview of our dissection performed over the weekend. The horse was found to have Equine Complex Vertebral Malformation (otherwise known as C6/C7 malformation or ECVM)

22.01.2022 Little Miss Ellie will be coming up for sale shortly, sweet little mare, great under saddle, just needing further education and discipline on the ground. Will be sold as lead line pony.

22.01.2022 A short video we recently made looking at the complex anatomy of the internal hoof capsule and how when we as farriers drive nails into the hoof we are doing so with such small margins for error. Www.efarrieryeducation.com Alex Ridgeway Kendell Norris Laurence Ridgeway

22.01.2022 I am posting this as I find it fascinating (Im not a vet) and I thought some of you might also. Ive searched the group and havent found anything similar. Thi...s mare was bred to my stallion (I Aied her here on Stud). She was confirmed in foal etc, all looking fab (young, maiden mare). She went right through to about a month short of her due date and started having horrendous discharge (smelly and lots of it). The mare is on a very remote station in NZ with no Equine vets for hours. After a few days, mare was transported to an Equine vet who thought there was a live foal and mare was put on a regime of ABs and Regumate. Mare went right through to over 12 months gestation, with no bagging and no foal but still with a lot of discharge. Mare was palpated and bones felt but nobody knew how they were going to extract the bones. Its now 9 months past the mares due date, and finally the bones have been taken out by a knowledgeable Equine Repro vet who has thankfully moved to our area (who is going to try and put the pieces together and will report her findings). Mare is alive and well, but owner is not keen to ever partake in horse breeding again!

21.01.2022 Biscuit This lovely Stock horse mare is in getting some more time under saddle and will be looking for a new home

20.01.2022 What an absolute gentleman this little welsh is. Quite educated, been long reined, very respectful on the ground and under saddle. Such a sweet natured gelding

17.01.2022 This is a well overdue post, but it would just be criminal if I didnt introduce this stunning mare DEVINE KYA is a standardbred owned by Pat Alexander aged 5. I was fortunate enough to be asked to start this beautiful mare under saddle and what a pleasure it has been She intelligent, has a gentle kind eye and has made it known she likes to socialize. She doesnt appreciate a paddock all to herself or put with a friend that isnt willing to play or put up with her an...tics She adores attention and has consistently exceeded all expectations. She has a beautiful light extended trot and would look and do well in the show ring The farrier is attending and shell be getting shoes on this week, cant wait to get her out and about and work on her transitions and gaits. This is one breaker Im super excited about her future, so much potential See more

15.01.2022 Who you are tomorrow begins with what you do with today..... Throwback to three year old Emmie making up her own tricks.

15.01.2022 Sweet natured Shetland mare Ellie found a beautiful to go to yesterday. At this stage she is my only lead line pony. I do however have some other lovely ponies coming up for sale, they are from 11h upwards. I will be posting them up today and are ready for viewing.

15.01.2022 On Thursday 7 July 2016 I was kicked by a horse (not my own). It was an accident. I had just finished putting on his sweat sheet after riding, and was walking t...o his head to put him in his stable. A car drove past from behind, spooking him, and then seeing my movement on his left side, swung his bum and kicked me with his left hind on my right thigh - on a half meter distance. I have documented the injury, and am sharing it for educational purposes, to show how bad a kick from a horse could be and how important it is to teach children and non-horsey individuals to stay clear of the horses bum, as well as a wake-up call for equestrians to be careful even if you trust the horse 150%! Please note that I received medical attention (<8 hours post injury) at the ER of a local private hospital, which included x-rays to ensure that the femur wasnt broken/fractured. This was my first point of medical attention. From the injury I have a partial tear in the rectus femoris muscle in my thigh, and had a huge hematoma (12.6 x 8.4 x 1.5cm). The hematoma was so dense that the radiographer could not see the muscle underneath. The purpose of the ultrasound was to determine the size and density of the hematoma to determine whether surgery was necessary. The radiologist was called in, and he was worried also. The hematoma had to be drained under general anesthesia. My knee also hyperextended backwards with the impact, but no ligaments were torn and x-rays of my knee were clear. I have added comments to each photo to indicate the time period post injury. Warning - my leg looked really bad, so if you are squeamish, better not look! Update: 5 August 2016 An update on my leg for those following my recovery: I am now one month post injury and 2 weeks and 2 days post op. I had a bit of a scare yesterday (4 August) when the injury area started heating up and I experienced more pain. It ended up being a little inflammation and has been sorted by anti inflammatories. I have no swelling, no heat (anymore) and no pain, just a little uncomfortable with the scar tissue at the operation sites. It is being treated by my physiotherapist and is getting better! I have been absolutely overwhelmed by the response I have received since my first post. I have received close to 300 messages from people all over the world - thanking me for sharing my story, wishing me well, sharing their stories/injuries with me and some just checking in and asking how I am recovering. I appreciate every message! My main purpose for sharing my story was to raise awareness on the dangers of being too comfortable around horses, and the injuries that could be sustained in the process. If my post prevents only one accident, then my post has served its purpose. I enclose a photo taken today (5 August 2016) of my leg. The darker spots are part of the hoof print and is discolouration of the skin. The bruising has subsided almost completely, and the incision points are healing well. I am allowed to start walking (no trotting or cantering yet) my horses next week, and have been given exercises to strengthen the other muscles in my right leg, as well as my left leg. The road to recovery is slow, but every day brings improvement! I was very lucky, it could have been much worse. Update 7 August 2016: I went for a short walk on my new horse yesterday (6 August 2016). I have never felt such fear. I felt totally out of control (she hadnt done anything to make me feel unsafe or out of control) and terrified. I felt like I wanted to get off and never get on a horse ever again. I was shaking all over, which of course my horse felt also, making her very aware of her surroundings to keep me safe. I stayed on and made it back to the stables. I had a chat with my trainer and she thinks that I might have some symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder, even though I wasnt injured while riding. We decided that I will be doing groundwork with all 3 horses for now, until I am more comfortable, and then take it one step at a time. Today, I was at the stables and had a desire to get on my one horse, Cheval. Even though I was scared, I tried it and it was awesome! She took such good care of me! I didnt go out, but just walked around the polo crosse field, throwing the ball in on line outs in the practise! I never once felt scared, or out of control. It actually felt really really amazing!!! And best of all...NO pain in my leg!!!! So for now, I will do groundwork with all three, and ride Cheval when I feel like getting on Taking it one step at a time! Update 25 August 2016: On Tuesday 23 August I had my month post op checkup. The surgeon was very happy with the progress and gave me the green light to start exercising again. I have to take it easy still for 2 weeks until 6 weeks post op, but I may start light riding. Today, 25 August, I had my first light training ride. I managed only 25 minutes of walking and trotting with lots of walking in between trot work. Leg became tired quickly and was a little sore after the ride. Rest is helping for the pain. Taking it easy... For the time being I will ride one a day and do ground work with the other 2. One day at a time...

14.01.2022 Hi Everyone Just letting you all know that this little 10h Shetland mare is up for sale due to buyers default. Angel is 4yo and is the sister to Gracee that I sold not long ago. Angel hasnt done pony rides at events or parties, but has and will continue to be ridden by kids of all ages. She is super sweet, but being bullied in the past shes a little bit more timid. ... Definitely no dirt under saddle and is very respectful and sensible. We are currently working on buttering her up so shes easier to catch. I believe this will subside with further work and trust. Shes an adorable little pony with a lot of patience. Shes currently $1200 as is or price will increase with further training. Ridden clips on request. Located Traralgon Can transport for a fee. 14.01.2022 Wouldnt trade my job for an office job ever!

13.01.2022 Sharing this again from the incredible Equine Partnership because it boggles my mind how archaic and uneducated the Equestrian scene still is in regards to trai...ning young horses, especially the "breaking in" of young horses, as horrible a term as that is. (Starting under saddle is much kinder!) The horses knees do not solidify until he is TWO. His upper legs and hocks until he is THREE and THREE AND A HALF. His shoulders and hips until he is FOUR AND FIVE. His lower jaw bone and connecting joint to the top of the skull till he is FIVE. HIS SPINE DOES NOT SOLIDIFY AND STOP GROWING UNTIL HE IS SIX YEARS OLD. His poll and withers at SEVEN. Your horse has not finished growing and solidifying his whole skeleton until he is seven years old. He is not structurally safe to gently ride until he is Six, when there is no longer risk of pressure damage to the STILL NOT SOLIDIFIED SPINE. He should not be expected to maintain collection or frame until after his poll and withers are finished. If you disregard this, and choose instead to start early, with no reason other than the selfish desire for a rideable horse or one you can make money off, be it racing or sale, you need to leave the Equestrian world altogether. Horses are not machines that exist for you to profit off. They are living growing creatures who deserve to be owned, trained, and ridden, by people who choose to be educated and who choose to act based on welfare and facts instead of outdated opinions and greed. 10.01.2022 Buenas.

08.01.2022 Angel is 4yo, 10h Shetland mare and is ready to move on to be enjoyed by little people Shes an adorable little pony with lots of patience with kids. Definitely no dirt under saddle and is very respectful and sensible with children.... She is super sweet, but being bullied in the past shes a little bit more timid and stands back not wanting any confrontation. We are currently making progress and working on buttering her up so shes easier to catch. I do believe this behavior will subside being around fewer horses and building a relationship with her.
