24.01.2022 Dulong and Kureelpa God’s country!! Easy to see why my great, great grandparents James and Mary Dalzell settled here over 100 years ago special thanks to Gillian Hall of Dulong Futures, and Di Fitzgerald and the residents of Woodland Place for sharing the important local issues at our recent meetings.
23.01.2022 Under the stars in the grounds of Yandina Historic House for the Yandina community carols this wonderful family event is presented by Yandina Baptist Church (and nearly $1000 was raised for the Maroochy River Firies and Buy-a-Bale Chinchilla). My beautiful mother-in-law Pat thoroughly enjoyed singing along to the carols but sadly passed away the following week.
23.01.2022 Great to catch up with nearly 70 school mates at the Nambour High Class of ’79 Reunion held at Tranquil Park, Maleny. Hard to believe it has been 40 years since we graduated. This was our 4th reunion and they seem to get better (and go later into the night!) each time. The quiz about the school and 1979 happenings was both fun and challenging (because the questions were hard - NOT because our memories are failing??) It was a pleasure working with Cathy, Peter, Ute, Leigh and Tammie on the committee to bring it all together (Peter was as always a great MC on the night, being his usual witty self) looking forward to the 45 year reunion already!!
19.01.2022 At The Store Eumundi for the Eumundi Chamber of Commerce Christmas Business Breakfast with Cindy, Kate and David. Guests were treated to a hearty breakfast (and The Store’s award winning coffee) during presentations by Bamik Baker (Experience Eumundi), Alain Bouvier (photographer) and a robust discussion regarding streetscaping and parking issues with Councillor Greg Rogerson.
18.01.2022 Congratulations to the organisers of Nambour Tramfest for putting together an amazing Christmas Street Party (special kudos to Councillor Greg Rogerson who seemed to be everywhere during the afternoon’s preparations). Lots of great craft and food stalls, live entertainment and a visit by Santa Clause (and the storms stayed away!). Thanks to those who stopped for a chat while enjoying the night’s festivities.
16.01.2022 With Terry, Mark, Robyn and Kerry at the recent Nambour Chamber of Commerce Christmas breakup. Nambour Bowls Club hosted the evening which featured lots of great prizes in the raffle and superb catering by Jodie and Claudio of Chadwick’s Kitchen. Wishing all the Nambour business community a very prosperous 2020.
16.01.2022 Merry Christmas from the Campbell family - wishing you all wonderful times with family and friends, and loving memories of the special ones in our hearts
12.01.2022 With the dynamic team Jack, Di, Kate and Gillie at Kanyana Park Dulong (Dulong is my great, great grandparent’s patch) showing the ‘reward’ of our labour on Clean Up Australia Day (organised by Kureelpa and Dulong Neighbourhood Watch) - on the up side, thanks to all those across the country who gave their time and energies to make a positive difference on the down side, very sad that there are those among us who disrespect their environment and just don’t care
08.01.2022 Do yourself a favour and drop into Claudio and Jodie at Chadwick’s Kitchen in Currie Street Nambour café by day serving tasty snacks, meals and beverages (takeaways and catering also), Italian restaurant on Friday and Saturday evenings - Jeannie and I thoroughly enjoyed the 3 course Valentine’s special recently superb!
05.01.2022 The Kenilworth Community Transport Service is an important initiative presently being trialled with assistance from SCRC it provides transport within and beyond the town limits for those who might not otherwise be able to get around - this is particular important as no other public transport exists locally the health, social and economic benefits are obvious (other local governments are monitoring the KCTS with the hope of introducing a similar service in their areas). Thanks to David, Amanda, Shirley, Adrienne and Graham for providing information about the service it must continue and be adequately supported but will need some refinements to reach it’s full potential. Thanks also to Leanne and team at Nanna McGinns for the great coffees.
04.01.2022 One of my passions is bringing people together connected communities are stronger (and importantly safer) communities - the great outcomes achieved by our Neighbourhood Watch groups are a fine example of this fostering strong partnerships between police and the community to minimise illegal activity - I had the chance to spend some time with Rod, Tony, Ken and team at Burnside 5 NHW recently they are constantly looking at evolving (new initiatives, getting information to the people most efficiently, maintaining relevance, growing membership) to keep this important programme realising it’s full potential keep up the great work
02.01.2022 The Nambour Museum is a must-see for long-time locals (to reminisce) and new-comers alike (to appreciate the important role that Nambour and District has played in the development and prosperity of the Sunshine Coast). There is a wide variety of interesting displays including the sugar cane industry (my highlight was seeing the steam loco ‘Bli Bli’ which hauled our family’s cane, now returned to her former glory) and one of the best heritage telecommunications displays in Australia. Pleased to hear that many school groups tour the Museum regularly. There are exciting times ahead also with planning underway for extensions which will incorporate a new display area with lift and amenities. Special thanks to Clive, Steve, Cherry and Graham for the guided tour and the volunteers for your tireless work.
