24.01.2022 I remember hearing the click, but by then it was too late. My life flashed before my eyes and I thought this is it, Im going. I died three times on the way h...ome at 37,000ft but they brought be back On May 27th, 2010, Dave Watson, of the 1st Battalion Scots Guards, was on a routine 53-man foot patrol in Afghanistan when he stood on an Improvised Explosive Device. His injuries were devastating. He lost both his legs below the knee and his right arm above the elbow. Today, Dave remembers those life-changing events and asks you to support his fellow veterans by playing the Veterans Lottery - the lotto dedicated to funding projects that supports heroes in need from all conflicts. 19.01.2022 It is with extreme regret we announce the passing of Robert (Bob) Douglas Channon on Wednesday 10th June 2020. Bob was a member of the original C Company 10th Battalion, based in Murray Bridge, which was tasked with guarding the road and rail bridges over the River Murray, plus the Pumping Station and Electricity Storage facilities at the beginning of WW2. Bob went on to serve with distinction in PNG and the Dutch East Indies, now Indonesia. In later life Bob was president of the Murray Bridge RSL in 1967, and also president of the Murray Bridge RSL Bowling club, and attended every ANZAC Day march in Adelaide, up to this year. Bob was active within the Lower Murray Branch of Legacy. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Lest We Forget

16.01.2022 It is with extreme sadness we advise of the passing of much-loved Associate Member Cheryl Beames, wife of President Rod. Cheryl passed away in the early hours of Wednesday 29th July after a long battle with cancer, with Rod by her side. Cheryl stood alongside Rod at every RSARA function, assisting with purchasing, preparing, and serving food to the soldiers of the Battle Group. Her passing comes as a great shock to the RSARA family and the Defence community. In line with Cheryls wishes, a private family funeral will be conducted.

04.01.2022 Once again the combined ex-services Associations, comprising the RSAR Association, South Australia Mounted Rifles Association and the Royal Australian Engineers Association (SA) all worked like a well-oiled team to ensure the 10/27 Bn Battle Group were fed in a timely and Regimental manner for lunch on Sunday 15th March 2020. A smaller exercise was conducted on the Saturday afternoon with the Battle Group welcoming their new full time training staff and their partners. (110 m...eals were served on the Sunday and 36 on the Saturday.) Prior to the Sunday BBQ the CO LTCOL Peter Morgenthaler presented a number of Battle Group members with various medals, citations and awards. The Patron of the RSAR Association MAJGEN Neil Wilson (Retd) then read out two letters to the assembled soldiers and RSARA members. The first letter was from the RSAR Regimental Council to the soldiers who had been deployed to KI and the Adelaide Hills during Op Bushfire Assist. The Council spoke of the hardships borne by the soldiers during their support work, and the professional attitude they had displayed which had bought much high credit on the Battle Group. The 2nd letter, also from the RSAR Regimental Council was addressed to Rod Beames, President RSARA, thanking the Association for the support they had given to the Battle Group during Op Bushfire Assist. 03.01.2022 In support of SA Police, Australian Defence Force members have been deployed to the South Australian border, helping to staff border crossings and control entry... points as part of Operation COVID-19 ASSIST. Australian Army Private Angus Brodie, of 10th/27th Battalion, Royal South Australia Regiment, is pictured here at the Glenelg River Road border checkpoint in Donovans, South Australia.

02.01.2022 Once again our own Mark Blondell features in ADF social media. Importantly however, is the return to the discussion of the future of the Part-Time Army. The author paints a bleak picture of the Army Reserve as a stranded asset. In 2020, do you think his arguement is valid? In the case of 10/27 the pace of the the full timers moving to Armoured Infantry (not mechanised infantry) is extremely rapid and its a space where the Regiment will unlikely be able to follow. At the end of the day however it will fall to Army writ large and the Government to determine the direction of the Part-Time Army.

02.01.2022 The Luncheon will be rescheduled once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. Stay Safe.

01.01.2022 This year, 10th/27th Battalion, Royal South Australia Regiment, competed in the Australian Army Skill at Arms (AASAM) competition in March at the Greenbank Trai...ning Area, Queensland. As a reserve team, they were able to compete against their full time counterparts with 4 of the 5 shooters finishing in the top 100. One of whom, CPL Calum Findlay, finished in 7th place for the EF88 practices out of 158 competitors. Around 160 shooters from the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army and Royal Australian Air Force competed to be named champion shot of their Service. The competition also identified the Armys top 20 shots who will be selected in the Australian Army Combat Shooting Team to represent the Australian Army in international marksmanship competitions.

01.01.2022 Magnificent. Give it a listen.
