17.01.2022 As everyday passes we see and hear more stories of survival, loss, death & destruction. And the response has been unconditional love, generosity, charity & kindness. We are all hurting, some more than others. So today, tomorrow and going forward keep being kind, just keep being kind to each other. Big hugs to all who are hurting and thank you to those who are on the front line fighting. We are Australian.

12.01.2022 Hey Melbournites!!! You’ve got no excuse not to take a road trip to North East Victoria this Australia Day Long Weekend - get yourself on the Hume, pick a destination and follow the signs to explore the great North East - take a detour west’ish to Benalla or head east to Mansfield, further north and you can take the Great Alpine Road Road which will wind you through the Ovens Valley toward Milawa, Beechworth, Myrtleford, Bright and Mt Beauty or take a pit stop in Wangaratta, ...the Federation Hwy (north of Wang) will take you up to Wagunyah and you can cross the Murray River to Corowa (the home of Federation), the next turn off is the Springhurst-Rutherglen Road leading you to Rutherglen, made famous as a gold mining town back in the late 1800’s, now its rich soils support farming and vineyards, and further north again you’ll find the towns of Chiltern, Barnawartha and the city of Wodonga!! You can’t miss the signs along the Hume Hwy directing you to the numerous regional and rural towns within North East Victoria!! There’s so much to see & do you’d be mad if you didn’t!! #explorenortheastvictoria #comebacktothebush #drivebuyfromthebush #supportbushbusinesses See more

11.01.2022 NE Victoria in the middle of January should be a lot different to this - the accommodation houses should be full, the cafes, restaurants & pubs should packed, the tourist operators should be run off their feet, there should be people swimming in lagoons, lakes and rivers!! The region should be crawling with visitors and bright blue sky from Mt Beauty & Harriettville to Wagunyah & Wangaratta - but it’s not!! For almost two weeks it’s been covered by a thick blanket of smoke -... this is the current reality. Businesses have been hard hit, and although the National Parks and State forests remain closed the vast majority of the country towns and villages of NE Victoria have not been directly impacted by bushfires just the domino effect of the evacuation orders. What should be their peak trading period has turned into an comprehensive economic disaster. They may not have been directly hit by the bushfires but the overall affect is taking its toll on their bottom line and that’s shattering! If it weren’t for the amazing efforts of all the emergency service personnel who reside in these towns across the region there may well have been further tragedies. So we need to support them by supporting their towns. To make a real difference jump in your car and visit North East Victoria, come with open hearts and open wallets, then share on social where you’ve been and what you’ve seen. These towns are open for business and just waiting for you!! Yes there is still the possibility that there may be smoke and the potential for new fires to start but if you can keep up to date via the following apps they will provide you with all you need to know should you need it: Vic Emergency https://emergency.vic.gov.au/ and EPA Air Watch https://www.epa.vic.gov.au/EPAAirWatch services. Get going and support these communities!!

10.01.2022 For those dealing with the absolute trauma of loosing it all in the recent bushfires and for those who want to understand, following are some wise words from the Barefoot Investor on bushfire recovery. It’s worth the read as he too was burnt out of house and home in 2014. "On a scorching day in February 2014 my wife, our 7-month-old son and I stood looking at the smouldering rubble that was once our home. We had absolutely no idea what lay ahead for us....Continue reading
