24.01.2022 This week we chat with first-term Councillor, Kat Mitchell from Parks Ward, whose favourite thing in her area is The Parks Library. "I’ve always been a keen reader and student, so when I moved to the Parks Ward six years ago it felt something was missing. Now with the new Parks Library (opened October 2018), the community is really coming together. I now visit the library at least 2-3 times a week where I can study, read, or borrow from the toy library my toddler loves the puzzles! Every time I visit there seems to be something different and interesting happening especially the innovation on display in the MakerSpace. My favourite part is how well used this library is, and how many regulars I see."

23.01.2022 Amazingly, 36% of South Australian consumers have never switched energy companies or plans, but it is easy to do and you might be able to get a much better deal! To help you out and help you to ensure you are on the best plan for your needs, the Australian Government has a free and independent Energy Made Easy website www.energymadeeasy.gov.au. The website helps consumers and small businesses find and compare generally available electricity and gas plans from all providers in their area so they can make informed energy choices. The website also has blogs, FAQs, and information about energy efficiency, contracts, bills, consumer rights and, most recently, the help available to people financially affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

15.01.2022 Due to numerous complaints about overnight camping and associated issues on the foreshore at Semaphore South, parking restrictions have now been installed which prohibit parking in this one carpark between 10pm and 5am. This video explains why we have done this, other options available nearby, and why this will have no negative effect on the local economy.

13.01.2022 Today is going to be hot, and the two days following will be even hotter If you need to cool off, Port Adelaide Library, Greenacres Library, The Parks Library, and our Community Centres are air-conditioned and open during the day. Enfield and Semaphore libraries are currently closed for renovations. Semaphore pop-up will be closed on Saturday, and Enfield pop-up will be closed on Friday and Saturday due to the weather. In extreme heat, you are more likely to become unwell ...much faster than normal, when temperatures are hotter than 35C, your body may not be able to cool you down enough for you to stay healthy. Extreme heat events are a risk for anyone who doesn't take precautions to keep cool, even those who are fit and healthy. However, those most at risk are elderly people, babies and young children, and people with a medical condition or disability. Our Community Emergency Management Plan has more help and advice for coping with extreme heat www.cityofpae.sa.gov.au/community/services/cemp/extreme-heat

06.01.2022 Like many others, Seaside Pilates in Largs Bay had to change the way they operated through COVID19. It has been a test of resilience for local businesses, and we've worked in collaboration with Living Stories to tell their stories.

02.01.2022 This week we meet Councillor Hannah Evans who is in her first term representing Northfield Ward, to find out what she loves about her area. "As a dog-mum of two it’s not surprising I enjoy visiting Roy Amer Reserve in Oakden, LJ Lewis Dog Park in Northfield and walking around the lakes in Lightsview, often with a coffee and ‘puppuccino’. I’m excited to see the Lights Community and Sports Centre completed, which offers an inclusive space for our community to enjoy as well as a place to call home for the North Adelaide Rockets. I’m proud to be part of our strong and inclusive community and look forward to working alongside residents to improve the places and spaces we know and love"

02.01.2022 Recently we've commissioned artists to create pieces we are calling "Tiny Gems". These are exciting small things that bring new life, and possibly a new meaning, to tiny spaces across PAE. Keep an eye out as we unveil snippets of more than 50 new pieces of Tiny Gems art when they are installed! Until then, here is a sneak peek at what some of the artists are working on. We don't want to give it all away by showing everything on here though, we want you to find them yourselves! We'll tell you more soon and let you know where to go looking! Artists - Alan Tulloch, Bridgette Minuzzo, Christine Pyman, Elizabeth Close, Jay Hann, Karena Colquhoun, Kasper Schmidt Mumm, Kurt Bosecke, Laura Wills and Mandi Glynn-Jones

01.01.2022 The Dolphin Explorer is an iconic tourist attraction in Port Adelaide. Like other businesses, things became very difficult and they had to find new ways to operate during the COVID 19 pandemic. Learn more about their journey in this video with Living Stories, as part of our Working Through COVID19 series, funded by the City of PAE.
