20.01.2022 This Friday, 18 September, make your way down to Midtown (Elizabeth Street between Melville & Warwick Streets) for the annual Park(ing) Day. 19.01.2022 Hobart's looking pretty good when it comes to kerbside recycling. But there's one thing that's still causing a few problems - the dreaded plastic bag! If you put your recyclables into a plastic bag, you run the risk of undoing all of your good work by having it all end up in landfill. Plastic bags and other soft plastics can get stuck in the machinery at the sorting facility and can cause all sorts of problems in the sorting process. Even putting items into boxes can caus...e issues. So leave your recyclables to tumble free in your recycling bin! 16.01.2022 City of Hobart has created a special drop off spot for charities to leave recyclable items at the McRobies Gully Waste Management Centre (the Tip). The specific area for charities, which is just before the weighbridge, is part of the City’s efforts to help charities reduce waste and minimise tip fees, and will be open to charities in late October. City of Hobart is also offering free advice and assistance to all local charities in recycling and sorting of material before bringing material to the tip.

15.01.2022 Electric vehicles can now power-up quickly in the heart of the city, after City of Hobart installed a fast-charge station at the Dunn Place carpark. Drivers can pay to use the new fast 50kW DC charging station via the EasyPark app. The station can fully charge a standard electric car battery in about 30 minutes. City of Hobart installed the new fast-charge station with the help of a $50,000 ChargeSmart Grant from the Tasmanian Government. Electric vehicle infrastructure is part of both the City of Hobart’s Connected Hobart and draft Sustainable Hobart action plans to create a more sustainable future for our city.
