Currently there is no suitable diversion for northbound traffic so delay your trip.... Other road closures: - The Weir Road at Barnsley remains closed due to rain. - Medowie Road between Nelson Bay road and Richardson road is also closed. -Reports of water over the road at Boyd Boulevard, Brocklesby Road and Fullerton Cove Road. Also the RAAF Base Williamtown and Newcastle Airport airfield is also closed due to flooding. POWER OUTAGES: - Reports of outages around Medowie and Ferodale with estimated restore time of 7pm. Locations which may be affected include Newcastle, Gosford, Cessnock, Maitland, Dungog and Kulnura. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: ... * Move your car under cover or away from trees. * Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. * Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences. * Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill. * Trees that have been damaged by fire are likely to be more unstable and more likely to fall. * Keep clear of creeks and storm drains. * Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water. * If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue. * Be aware that run-off from rainfall in fire affected areas may behave differently and be more rapid. 05.01.2022 UPDATE: Maitland road has now reopened after earlier Police operation. The individual involved has now been taken to hospital for checks. Police operation in Mayfield Maitland road between Hanbury street and Victoria street closed off after a verbal standoff with police.... It appears to have resolved peacefully, with the man climbing down from the awning. More to come
