For those who did not attend the recent "Three Hearts" Art and Mindfulness Retreat at the Pingelly Exchange Tavern held on the 23rd -25th October,2020 you missed a "Treat " of an experience and I would encourage you to attend the workshop from Artist Nicole and the friendly hospitality of Ian, Jeanette and their staff. As a complete beginner with no Art experience I am just someone that likes to paint and only paint tins and pots for garden art for my liking. The weekend was full of fun, laughter, and meeting some really nice people both locally and as far as Mandurah and Perth. The food was amazing from the Pingelly Exchange Tavern with beautifully presented creative Homemade Food from Jeanette and her team. This was Breakfast, lunch and dinner which was included in the Package Cost for the Art Workshop. The accommodation and deco is like taking a step back into the stunning bygone era at this Heritage Tavern Nicole the Artist is a lovely warm happy, passionate lady with a beautiful calming nature and the passion for her Art was inspirational to those that attended. The smile on her face and the patience she showed to everyone made it that much more of a fun and relaxing weekend. Three Hearts Art Studio run by Nicole will be holding more workshops at the Pingelly Exchange Tavern so I encourage people to experience these one or two day workshops as you have the choice of what suits you. Whether you are a beginner like myself, student or experienced artist you will have a fun workshop and be amazed with what you create and take home to show your family and friends. 03.01.2022 DRYANDRA WOODLAND 32minutes Sth West of Pingelly. This is a valuable nature conservation area featuring the largest remnant of original vegetation in the western Wheatbelt. 24 mammal, 98 bird and 41 reptile species are all known to call Dryandra home, including Western Australia’s state mammal emblem, the numbat (Myrmecobius fasciatus). ... Fauna Although the numbat is Dryandra's best known inhabitant, woylies, tammar wallabies, brushtail possums, tawny frogmouths, kangaroos and wallabies are regularly seen here. Birds seen in the area include the mound-building malleefowl. Barna Mia Experience the wonder of the woodland and its wildlife on a guided nocturnal tour of Barna Mia, a predator-proof animal sanctuary in the heart of Dryandra (bookings are essential). Flora Dryandra is an especially scenic area with magnificent woodlands and spectacular wildflowers in winter and spring. The open eucalypt woodlands of white-barked wandoo and powderbark covered much of the Wheatbelt before it was cleared for farming. Thickets of rock sheoak and kwongan heath provide habitat for several of Dryandra's rare species. Walking Trails There are numerous walking trails you can take to discover the diversity of life in Dryandra Woodland. Ranging from 1km to 12.5km, there is a trail to suit everyone. Drive Tour The 23km self-drive Darwinia Drive Trail includes five pull-over bays where interpretive information is provided on the complexity and interdependence of natural systems at Dryandra. Using specific examples of relationships thisdrive will take you into the heart of the woodlands. Pack a picnic lunch or take a short walk to search for orchids near the granite outcrop at stop five.
