17.01.2022 For the first time, the Governor-General and the Governor-General of New Zealand have recorded a joint video message to commemorate Anzac Day. In the message, t...he Governor-General and Her Excellency The Rt Honourable Dame Patsy Reddy GNZM, QSO have recognised the unique nature of this years Anzac Day, the importance of remembering and honouring the sacrifice of our forebears and drawing inspiration from their legacy as we confront our own generational test. Australian Governor-General: At a time when staying connected has never been more important, Dame Patsy and I on behalf of our respective nations bring you this joint Anzac Day message. New Zealand Governor-General: Kia ora koutou - greetings. On this very different Anzac Day, David and I acknowledge the enduring bonds forged between our two countries by the ANZACs in Gallipoli. : On Anzac Day we remember and honour the service and sacrifice of those who have served our nations. : This year, Gallipoli will not be a place of pilgrimage. The Last Post will not echo across Anzac Cove, nor at Lone Pine nor Chunuk Bair. There will be no visitors to the memorials and cemeteries on Gallipoli; no expeditions up the steep ravines and ridge-lines where our forebears fought and died. There will be no public gatherings in our towns and cities, and no opportunities for our citizens to stand side by side to honour our veterans and pay homage to those who lost their lives in times of war : But many of us can still participate in an act of remembrance. We know that in thousands of homes across Australia and New Zealand, people will come together in spirit to honour the service and sacrifice of those who have served. Acts of remembrance, of course, are very much a personal thing. Whatever way you choose to remember, Anzac Day is a time: - To acknowledge those who have died in service to our nations. - To reflect on how that service and sacrifice has contributed to what and who we are as nations today that is, to understand its impact. - And, to understand what our response should be to that legacy. : Along with our friends in Australia, we too will commemorate our day of remembrance in a unique way, knowing that on either side of the Tasman we can draw strength and resolve from the courage and comradeship of our forebears. We can be guided by their sense of common purpose, and the understanding that we all have a part to play in keeping each other safe and well in our current adversity and that includes reaching out to support the vulnerable, fearful and anxious among us. We can choose to do good to ensure that adversity brings out the best in us. It is in this way that we can best honour the memory of the many people who live on in our memories, and the sacrifices that they made for our nations. : We remember on Anzac Day for a reason. We are proud of our ANZAC forebears. Let us make them proud of us. : Ka maumahara tonu ttou ki a rtou. : Lest we forget. #AnzacDay #LestWeForget #AnzacAtHome

17.01.2022 4/12 Ammunition PL, 2 CSC established and operated a large ammunition Field Storage Area (FSA) in conjunction with 3 CSSB to support 3 BDE's Exercise Brolga Run. The FSA contained a large quantity of Explosive Ordnance (EO), totalling 260 pallets of various natures including those for 155mm Howitzer ...Artillery Guns and the M1A1 Abrams Battle Tanks. The PL also conducted trade training for its own soldiers, as well as those from other 3 BDE units, to enhance the logistic and technical skill of the region's Ammunition Suppliers and Technicians. This included Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Disposal of Malfunctioned Explosive Ordnance (DMEO) scenarios and culminated with a Logistic Ammunition Disposal (LAD) range, seeing the explosive disposal of remaining unserviceable ordnance. #ReadyNow #FutureReady #GoodSoldiering

11.01.2022 Whilst 10 FSB (main) has deployed on Exercise AUROCH RUN 20, 1 Catering Company continues to provide concurrent enabling support to other elements across Army. 1 Catering Company is maximising its support to 7th Brigade - Australian Army Exercise DIAMOND CATALYST 20 by conducting parallel Force Modernisation activities. Elements from 1 Platoon (Townsville) and 2 Platoon (Brisbane) are trialling a catering production detachment concept, whereby the production detachment is con...ducting the full range of fresh foodstuffs management tasks, including: receipt, inspection, bulk break, pre-preparation and re-consignment prior to distribution of pre-prepared foodstuffs to a catering section operating forward in SWBTA. The trial will assess efficiency gains achieved by pre-preparing fresh rations such as meat, fruit and vegetables, and reducing unnecessary packaging in order to reduce supply chain volume moving forward, whilst reducing waste volume in the reverse supply chain. It will also assess the effectiveness of pre-preparation on catering operations within the forward catering section. Trial outcomes will be utilised to inform future AACC force structure options. #ArmyInMotion

07.01.2022 Sea range practice!! 35 Water Transport Squadron conducted a 12.7mm M2HB Quick Change Barrel MG (.50 cal) sea range practice yesterday. The team from 71 (LCM8) Troop fired the LCM8 primary weapon system onto land targets, made particularly challenging by the constant movement of the boat on the water. The activity aims to confirm weapons training and coordination across multiple watercraft for the conduct of an amphibious landing in a threat environment. The team got a lot of practice and ideas for how to progress training complexity for future practices.

03.01.2022 Hello friends and families of 10 FSB. I would like to introduce myself as the new Commanding Officer and also introduce the new Regimental Sergeant Major WO1 Matt Fuery. Thank you to LTCOL Neil Peake and the team from last year for the fantastic work you did the Battalion is in great shape and was ready to deploy at short notice over the Christmas period.... 02.01.2022 The Army Indigenous Development Program (AIDP) aims to give Indigenous Australians the best chance of success in Defence by helping participants meet entry educ...ation standards for Army. But Private Shanika Murgha, from 3rd Brigades 3rd Combat Engineer Regiment, says the program is much more than that. The program is designed for Indigenous members to enhance their literacy and numeracy skills and their physical fitness, but it was also a really good way to get us used to the structure and culture of the Australian Army, Private Murgha said. We got a lot of insight and a lot of knowledge, it was like having a little cheat sheet to take to our training at Kapooka. Growing up in Yarrabah in tropical North Queensland, Private Murgha found the move away from her family home challenging. When I enlisted it was the first time Id actually left my home. Its a small community and Im very family orientated so it was really tough to leave but my family have backed me the whole way. They really encouraged me to go out and explore the world, to make something of myself. As an Indigenous woman and soldier, for Private Murgha National Reconciliation Week is about celebrating the melting pot of culture within the Australian Defence Force. For me it is all about the recognition of culture in the Army and Defence, not only of Indigenous members but all people of colour. Its about coming together and sharing not only our Army culture, but our individual cultures. Its about bringing yourself to the table and letting people know this is me, this is who I am. #NRW2020 #InThisTogether2020 Forces Command - Australian Army
