25.01.2022 BEAT THE BULLY BY DOWNING AUSSIE WINE Dozens of countries are urging their millions of residents to raise a glass of South Australian wine this Christmas in a show of solidarity over harsh trade measures from China. "We will not be bullied," is the catch cry in a new video featuring politicians from Germany, Italy, Japan and America, in response to Beijing's cancellation of wine imports.... The authoritarian government's bans follow Australia's vocal defence of human rights.



25.01.2022 SMASH AND GRAB AT ADELAIDE JEWELLER A trail of blood has been discovered in Rundle Mall after jewellery was stolen from the display window of an Adelaide Arcade store. A security guard discovered the smashed window just before 6am. The value and quantity of the sterling silver designs pinched is still unknown.

25.01.2022 EXPLOSIVE CRASH LANDING Elon Musk’s latest SpaceX flight didn’t quite stick the landing. The aircraft was on a test flight when it got into trouble, making a spectacular crash landing in southern Texas shortly after launching. ... No one was on board at the time.

24.01.2022 JUST IN: Police have scoured through 400-plus hours of CCTV as part of their investigation into the Woodville Pizza Bar worker who plunged the state into lockdown. They've also seized mobile phones, a laptop and a hard drive belonging to the 36-year-old. Assistant SA Police Commissioner Peter Harvey said the Spanish national has been co-operating with police from quarantine but that they still wish to interview two other people of interest.... With a tremendous amount of determination, 310 bashers, in a convoy of 98 cars, rallied against the restrictions of COVID to travel 1630km across our great state and deliver hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of cheques and grants to communitie...s in need. And somewhere in there, they managed to raise a whopping $1.47million for SA kids! Here’s some of the highlights from their week on the road.

It's believed he shimmied out a metal vent using a rope made out of clothes. The 33-year-old is described as 165cms, with a medium build and light brown hair. He was last seen wearing navy blue t-shirt, navy blue shorts with dark coloured socks and work boots. ... The public is advised not to approach him.

The women were seen walking through Rundle Mall about 5.20am on Sunday, October 4 and are believed to have been approached by a 16-year-old boy who has been arrested over the assault. They are asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

18.01.2022 AVOIDING STEVEN MARSHALL West Australian Premier Mark McGowan will be a notable absentee at Friday’s National Cabinet meeting in Canberra because he’s avoiding being anywhere near SA Premier Steven Marshall. McGowan’s health advisors have told him to participate via teleconference because it is too risky to mingle with a South Australian following our recent COVID outbreak.... While it is safe to travel to Canberra based on our health advice, given the restrictions in place for people who have knowingly mixed with residents of South Australia, it was appropriate that the Premier join the meeting from Perth instead, a spokesperson said. South Australia is scheduled to be reclassified as ‘low risk’ from Friday meaning SA travellers no longer require an exemption. But the state would need 28 days of no community cases before moving to ‘very low risk’ status which would remove the need to quarantine.

17.01.2022 A driver has been arrested at Klemzig after failing to stop for police and crashing while attempting to avoid road spikes. The 30-year-old male driver and female passenger ran from the scene but were apprehended a short distance away.

17.01.2022 #BREAKING: Tasmania will reopen its borders to SA from midnight on Wednesday. South Australia will be reclassified as low-risk meaning travellers heading to Tassie won’t have to quarantine.

16.01.2022 Four people have been arrested after they allegedly lured a 21-year-old man they knew to an Oaklands Park home, then assaulted him, stripped him of his clothing and forced him to transfer money from his bank account. They then threatened to stab the man unless a relative of his brought them jewellery and clothing, police allege. Police arrested three men aged 24, 35 and 38-years-old along with a 20-year-old woman. They were charged with abduction, unlawful detention, aggravated assault and aggravated robbery and were refused bail.

15.01.2022 MUSIC FESTIVAL SHAKE-UP Womadelaide will go ahead next year but in a strikingly different format. For the first time in its history it will move away from Botanic Park. Instead it will run across four nights in King Rodney Park, in the east parklands, and will feature an all-Australian line up of acts. Just 6000 tickets will be available for each seated event from March 5 to 8.

09.01.2022 Two more people have been arrested in connection with the break-in and theft of five cars from a Noarlunga Centre business. Five people, four men and one woman, have been arrested over the incident which sparked a police chase.

09.01.2022 SOUTH ROAD UPGRADE: The State Government is claiming house prices along the North-South Corridor will skyrocket in the coming years as the motorway is completed. Infrastructure Minister Corey Wingard says homeowners in suburbs surrounding South Road could see tens of thousands of dollars added to the value of their homes. Once complete, the motorway will offer a 78km non-stop link from Gawler to Old Noarlunga.

08.01.2022 DRUG RAID ARRESTS Four men have been arrested over a string of illicit drug crops uncovered in Adelaide’s north yesterday. 3190 cannabis plants were seized during raids on eight semi-rural and northern suburbs properties as part of Operation Glasshouse. A Virginia man, 42, a Paralowie man, 40, a Salisbury North man 44, and a 21-year-old man of no fixed address were charged with cultivating a large commercial quantity of cannabis. They will appear in court later today.

06.01.2022 WOMAN 6 TIMES THE LIMIT CRASHES IN THE BURBS A Glenelg woman, 35, has been done for drink driving after fleeing the scene of a crash. Police were called to Glenelg South just after 3.30pm on Wednesday after a parked car was hit on Farrell St. The driver of a Subaru sedan believed to be involved had left the scene but was found stopped on nearby Maroong Ave.... She returned an alleged blood alcohol reading of 0.315 - more than six times the legal limit- and issued with an immediate loss of licence and her car towed. She will face court at a later date.

06.01.2022 WOMEN GIVEN MORE RIGHTS IN CHURCH Women in the Catholic Church will be able to do more during Mass after a major change to Roman Catholic law by the Pope. Women can now administer communion and serve at the altar, but Pope Francis has confirmed the change will not mean women can become priests.... The Pontiff is under mounting pressure to allow women to be become deacons, giving them the ability to perform the same functions as a priest.

Forget snail mail, a Gold Coast woman got quite the shock this morning when she discovered a baby kangaroo shoved inside her local Australia Post box. After hearing scratching during her morning walk, she took a photo through the post box slot only to find this little fella inside.... Luckily for her it wasn't a snake, otherwise she might have had to speak parcel-tongue to coax it out. But as it was, fire fighters quickly hopped to the task, freeing the joey and shipping it off to wildlife carers for a once over.

02.01.2022 VICTORIAN PERMIT SYSTEM SCRAPPED South Australians can travel freely to Victoria from Saturday, December 12, after it scrapped its entry permit program. Victoria will now move to a spot check system for incoming flights to ensure that its revamped hotel quarantine program is not impacted.... Previously South Australians were required to file paperwork to enter, unless granted a prior exemption. SA has not recorded a coronavirus case for 10 days.
