20.01.2022 The new Lakes Entrance Jemmy’s Point Lookout (stage 1) is open! And with COVID travel restrictions easing and the school holidays starting we are expecting it t...o be well utilised. Mayor John White opened the lookout this afternoon with local MP Darren Chester on hand. Thanks to the contractors and community for their involvement from the initial design stages to completion. We look forward to seeing GLaWAC’s plans for the internal section to unfold. Enjoy the view ... we certainly did today! Minister for Fishing and Boating, Jaala Pulford MP, ha...s just announced that the Golden Tag Competition will start this Sunday, 1 March! From 12:01am on Sunday, the first 10 fishers to catch and report a tagged fish with ‘VFA WINNER’ printed on the tag will win $10,000. Subsequent tag captures beyond the first 10 will win the lucky fisher $2,000. Fish have been tagged throughout East Gippsland and North East Victoria to boost tourism in bush-fire affected areas. Species to look out for include black bream, dusky flathead, estuary perch, brown and rainbow trout, Murray cod, tailor and King George whiting to name a few.
