24.01.2022 Every muscle is important, but did you know that the functions of the diaphragm affect the whole body system? Not only does the diaphragm play a crucial role in... breathing, it also plays a role in digestion, lymph movement, waste removal, posture, movement of the upper limbs and our emotional and psychological states. Pretty important! Time to see your Bowen therapist? Bordoni B, Purgol S, Bizzarri A, et al. (June 01, 2018) The Influence of Breathing on the Central Nervous System. Cureus 10(6): e2724. 16.01.2022 Shalina Sinha's whole life changed when she discovered Bowen Therapy! She was almost disabled when her son was only two years old. She had 'never' picked him up... because sadly she did not have enough strength. After one Bowen session, 'the very next day' she picked up her son for the first time ever! What can Bowen do for you? We made this video as a thank you for helping us raise 17k. All the work on this Facebook page over the last year, including the editing of this trailer has been completely voluntary. 16.01.2022 Bowen Therapy with LOVE Bowen Therapy is one of the most nurturing and gentle treatments you can ever experience and deeply calms the body-mind-spirit. Such min...imal input from the practitioner and yet such profound outcomes. It is not surprising given the foundations of this marvelous therapy. Initially, Tom Bowen (1916-1982) was inspired to devise a solution to help his wife Jessie with chronic asthma. I believe it was his devotion and love that was at the core of his work. As he developed his skills and intuition, he became one of the most gifted healers of his time. Interwoven in the fabric of this story is the connection with Oswald Rentsch a farmer who also was on his own path trying to relieve the pain of his wife Elaine. In the documentary, Elaine shares her horrific story of falling out of a moving vehicle as a child. She incurred significant damage and her condition progressively worsened. Her mother would take her to all manner of orthodox and alternative therapist to ease her debilitating condition. Like Tom, Oswald (Ossie) was committed to helping his wife, and after taking her to ongoing therapy he decided to be self-reliant and learn for himself. By a chain of events, he met Tom at an osteopathic conference and this meeting changed his life forever. Ossie was so inspired by Toms work as he witnesses the miracle of his healing with Elaine and so many others that he treated. Soon after Ossie became one of Toms six core students at his Geelong clinic. Following the passing of his mate Tom, Ossie made a promise to him, that he would share his healing work to the world! The documentary created by Starmax Films shares with the audience the unfolding of this beautiful drama, and the parallel union of these two characters. It was the core of their love and devotion to their wives that bought Tom and Ossie together, to discover their true purpose and bring the gift of Bowen Therapy to the world. 13.01.2022 Public service announcement!

12.01.2022 Bowen Therapy is a State of the Art Healing modality! I and many others have found it to be to be one of the most profound and effective healing therapies Kno...wn. I have tried all manner of complementary treatments before I discovered Bowen Therapy, Massage, Chiropractic, Osteopathy, Physiotherapy, Acupuncture, Ayurveda, Shiatsu, Kinesiology, Reiki, Yoga, to name a few. There is nothing out there like Bowen Therapy, it is unique and it gets results. Many who have experienced the incredible nature and effectiveness of Bowen tend to adopt it as a priority treatment. To clarify, I am not discounting the intrinsic value of all the other healing modalities out there. As I understand that everybody is different and what is effective for one person may not be for another, and that we may require specific treatments pending on the problem at any given time. However, Bowen Therapy in many cases is able to achieve very positive outcomes in a short space of time and maintain resolve. Many of my patients including myself prior to Bowen Therapy had to have ongoing long drawn out treatment protocols to achieve resolution, if at all. The reason for Bowen Therapies effectiveness is because of its special qualities. It is a multifaceted treatment, meaning that it works on many levels of the body, and is active for some time. Its cross fibre gentle moves in precise areas release muscle tension locally and throughout the body, brings about increase hydration, circulation, increase mobility, detoxification, and results in musculoskeletal re-balancing. An additional key factor or what makes it unique is that it re-balances the autonomic nervous system which controls all subconscious body functions, like heart rate, breathing, elimination etc. When stress has accumulated in the body we can stay in sympathetic mode, or Fight and Flight, a danger response for too long. Its like a car that is going at 150 km an hour constantly, it is not sustainable. Eventually something gives and breaks down and we get an illness, or there is no energy left to heal and repair something even simple. We forget how much energy it takes to keep up with all the trillions of jobs that our body has to do every day to keep us alive and functioning optimally. Bowen Therapy calms the nervous system and stimulates parasympathetic mode, the emergency is over and we are able to rest relax repair, digest and FEEL GREAT What other therapy is able to do all this? Try it for yourself you wont be disappointed!

12.01.2022 Bowen Therapy can transform anxiety, depression, and release trauma, it is known to have many positive outcomes for various mental health issues. In the documen...tary, Jim Reed who suffered from extreme PTSD expresses how after the first session he walked out of the clinic euphoric. Within a few days his energy increasing, nightmares resolved, sleeping improved and his depression lifted. Indigenous elder and Bowen Therapist Janelle Brown had profound results with her own healing and is committed to taking Bowen to remote indigenous communities to help with mental health, trauma, and overall wellbeing. Tina Price Bowen Therapy instructor shares her incredible experience in the Philippines with her aid work after the last big natural typhoon disaster in 2013. She describes the big smiles that she and her helpers received after individuals experienced the Bowen. Many expressed how relieved they felt as their shock and horror released and many returned queued up for more treatment. The number one thing that makes Bowen Therapy superior to other complementary therapies is that it quickly restores calm in a person. The first few moves on the lower back send a message to the brain, the emergency is over. As the treatment progresses the diaphragm releases allowing for more oxygen intake and deeper breathing. Gastric juices are released and the stomach may rumble resuming digestion because the emergency is now over. Muscle tension melts and the sedated body and sinks into the table able to fully relax. In this state, the body is now able to focus its attention on healing and doing what it innately knows to do. All those trillions of cells can start to communicate and get on with their special job. In this state, happy hormones are released by the endocrine system into the bloodstream, such as Dopamine, Serotonin, Oxytocin, and other endorphins. These hormones are neurotransmitters and play a major part in regulating emotions and mood, as well as sleep, appetite, digestion, learning, and memory. In summary, there is huge potential for Bowen Therapy to be integrated with conventional treatments for mental health. To put it simply Bowen makes you feel GREAT and thats a plus for everyone! The results of Bowen therapy on mental health are the testimonials from the clients we have interviewed. Individual treatment results may vary as no two bodies are the same.

12.01.2022 High achievers such as Bear Grylls, use Bowen therapy regularly. In Bear Grylls own words: With the slightest squiggle of her fingers, it felt like petrol was... being put back in my tank and I could feel all the stress seeping away. Stress is arguably one of the greatest causes of both mental and physical disease. Stress can block creativity, lower performance and vitality in all walks of life. Bowen therapy has been known to activate the parasympathetic state, which immediately relaxes the body and allows stress to seep away. When this happens the body is able to do what it does best and begin to heal itself. New science is suggesting that the greatest pharmacy known to man, exists within all of us. Bowen therapy can help to allow your body to activate its own magnificent natural healing power so that you can perform at your best, bring back vitality and feel more energised. Being a high achiever and adventurer, Bear Grylls needs to be in the best shape possible and having suffered severe back problems from a near-fatal parachute accident, he is now "hooked" on Bowen therapy and has it on a monthly basis. If can help this extreme adventurer, imagine what it will do for you!

11.01.2022 Hope you have had a great weekend. Were you able to get out into Nature lately? One of my most favourite places is the The Gorge here in Launceston ( It’s only a 5 minute drive away) where I was lucky enough to spend most of the day yesterday.... What I love most about it is the bird life! (even if they are not native). Birds make me so happy See more

10.01.2022 The power of proprioception!

09.01.2022 Bowen therapy is an exceptional treatment for sport injuries. Tom Bowen had a passion for sport and was actively involved in the Geelong football club. He effec...tively treated all kinds of sports people, some of which traveled across Melbourne to be fixed by him. Tom would let players slip around the back of his clinic to give them a quick treatment in-between his other clients. His Saturday sport clinic was completely voluntary, as he was committed to the players. Tom went to all the presentations and he was given many thank you plaques and pictures of local teams, that filled his walls. We have interviewed sports enthusiasts, experts and practitioners Karen Hendrick, Michael Quinlivan, and ex athletes Ariya Lodge and Derrick Edmunds, who all have expressed how Bowen Therapy is cutting-edge technology. In that, it is highly effective for injury prevention, optimising performance, increased maintenance, and rapidly fast tracks injury recovery. There is huge potential for Bowen Therapy in the sport arena as it is currently very under-utilised, and we believe that our documentary will help it be more widely accepted as a stand-alone therapy.

07.01.2022 I am blessed with many regular clients. One of those is a tradie which obviously can be very demanding on their body with a lot of heavy lifting. He did do his back quite a few years ago now but visits every now and then when he over does it. He still gets niggles with his back every now and then but tells me that’s when he knows to book himself in for a Bowen. He often tells me how thank full he is and how I’ve kept him going all these years. Below the house he’s building.

05.01.2022 Just a few reasons why Bowen makes a wonderful gift this Christmas!

05.01.2022 Did you know Bowen Therapy is the work of one man ... Tom Bowen from Geelong, Victoria Australia. I think that makes Bowen Therapy even more special.

05.01.2022 Bowen is an awesome body therapy that accelerates healing, increases energy, lymphatic drainage, improves circulation and relaxation. Whatever your issues I can structure a session to your specific needs. Bowen works by realigning the body and taking the body out of fight/flight body response reducing pain and stress.

04.01.2022 Medical professionals around the world are choosing Bowen Therapy. Bowen is progressively becoming recognized as an invaluable complementary therapy. We intervi...ewed an array of medical professionals who utilize Bowen Therapy in ‘These Two Hands’ documentary, including, doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, midwives, pharmacists, to name a few. We were privileged to hear their amazing stories and how they have helped so many by using Bowen Therapy. In addition, they all highlighted the need for broader community awareness and acceptance as a stand-alone therapy to be integrated with orthodox medicine. The landscape of medicine around the world has been slowly progressing toward a more holistic and individualized approach to healing. This has been due to increase awareness with access to information through social media, limitations of orthodox medicine, cultural ties with traditional healing, a growing trend towards holistic and preventative medicine. This approach to healthcare incorporates a patient’s mind, spirituality, and sense of community into the healing process. Integrative medicine has been typically well received and the demand has been steadily increasing in primary hospitals in many countries in Europe, the USA, and Asia. Countries like China have led the way over the millennia, by incorporating specific healing foods, herbs, acupuncture, medical Chi Gong, and more hospitals. Currently, there is a great demand to integrate allopathic and traditional healing in developing countries. Many governments such as South Africa and India are moving forward with formal integration, undertaking the necessary research and policy changes. There is ‘huge potential’ for Bowen Therapy to be integrated into the mainstream health care system, in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and medical clinics. ‘These Two Hands’ documentary project continues to be invaluable in helping to raise awareness and contribute to the growth of this incredible modality. We greatly appreciate your ongoing support. Please help us to continue to spread the word by engaging with us online, sharing our posts on Facebook and Instagram, and getting your connections to like our page. Thank you to the following Medical professionals for sharing your passion and insights: Andrea Neale, Dr. Jaimini Raniga, Eleanor Oyston, Georgi Ilchev, Maurao Murganti, and Merrin Wake. 03.01.2022 Bowen Therapy has shown to be a powerful treatment for Sciatica. Sciatica can be a very debilitating condition and often tricky to treat. Sciatica is a term use...d to describe nerve pain in the leg that is caused by irritation and/or compression of the sciatic nerve. Sciatica originates in the lower back, radiates deep into the buttock, and travels down the leg, following the path of the large sciatic nerve. There are many different types of nerve pain that this condition can cause, burning, shooting, tingling, or numbness. Generally, the person experiences an overall sense of weakness in the area. Sciatica can be caused by a number of factors such as a herniated lumbar disc, lumbar spinal stenosis, lumbar degenerative disc disease, Spondylolisthesis, muscle spasms (particularly Psoas or Piriformis), Sacroiliac joint dysfunction, or Spinal Tumours. Doctors have a limited capacity to deal with sciatic and often prescribe the patient anti-inflammatory and pain medication and/or quartertone injection, then refer them on. Unfortunately, for many persons, this may lead to an endless stream of treatments achieving limited relief. Many Bowen Therapists have shared their experience with countless clients suffering from this condition and have had months of treatments with little resolve. Both patients and Bowen Therapists are often astounded at how quickly the Bowen technique can work. Sue Reed a registered nurse shares her experience, ‘I work in a large building that houses 115 elderly residence. There is a lot of walking around, 2 levels and long corridors. There is an incredible amount of paperwork and at times I spend long hours sitting. It is a lot to manage and my stress levels waver and during this time my sciatic plays up. Sometimes I can’t even lift my leg to go up the stairs or bend over to tie up my shoelaces, without feeling excruciating pain. After three sessions of Bowen Therapy with my prescribed exercises and now my sciatic has completely gone. It’s Heaven! I now go for quarterly tune-ups and don’t suffer with it anymore’. Interestingly Sue introduced Jim her husband to Bowen Therapy who was also suffering from sciatic and could no longer ride his motorbike and experienced limited mobility. Starmax Films interviewed him for our Documentary ‘These Two hands’, because he had one of the most incredible stories and was previously a huge ‘sceptic’. Charismatic Jim tells of his sciatic resolution in just one session and unexpectedly his PTSD induced nightmares also stopped immediately. He is now considering becoming a Bowen Therapist, he calls it, MAGIC! 03.01.2022 Trauma lives on in the body. Its not all "in your head" or something you can just let go of. It requires patience and sound nervous system support. Consider Bowen therapy as part of a holistic approach to trauma.

03.01.2022 It's all connected! Your sore knee might stem from your ankle or your shoulders. Or the source of your headaches might be your gut. That's why we use a whole-body approach in Bowen therapy!

03.01.2022 Improving ourselves, our clients and the world one Bowen therapy session at time!

02.01.2022 Deep sleep with Bowen Therapy. After a stressful event in our community, I was struggling to sleep and after just one Bowen session my sleep pattern has returne...d to normal. According to the international sleep association and findings from in-depth WHO-SAG Study, sleep disorders is an emerging global epidemic. Inadequate sleep of either duration of quality is becoming more common effecting 33-45% of adults, and is increasingly more prevalent in adolescents. Insufficient sleep is a pervasive and prominent problem and greatly impacting quality of life. This ever growing health issue is often unrecognised and under-reported, having major consequences on overall public health and has high economic costs. Research shows that Insufficient sleep leads to derailment of body systems, leading to increased incidence of cardiovascular morbidity, increased chances of diabetes mellitus, obesity, derailment of cognitive functions, vehicular accidents, and increased accidents at workplaces. In the US reduced sleep duration has been linked to 7 of the 15 leading causes of death. The increased usage of smart phones and electronic devices is worsening the epidemic. Adolescents with insufficient sleep are likely to be overweight and may suffer from depressive symptoms. Extensive research has shown that, good sleep is vital to maintain good physical and mental health. Bowen Therapists and their patients have experienced positive changes in sleep within a few treatments. Many have noted, that they are waking up less in the night, sleeping more deeply, able to get to sleep faster, resolution of restless legs, waking up more refreshed, having more energy during the day and able to focus better. As a result patients are feeling an overwhelming improvement in wellbeing as a direct result of better sleep. In our film These Two Hands - Bowen Therapy Documentary, we feature Jim Reed an ex military who suffered from nightmares for years. After his second treatment his nightmares completely vanished, allowing him to enjoy peaceful sleep which has transformed his whole life. Additional tips for deeper sleep: Keep to a consistent sleep schedule Set bedtime to ensure 7 hours of sleep Dont go to bed unless you are sleepy Quality sleep best before 12:00pm Dim lights in the evening Make your bedroom quiet and relaxing Screens off at least 1 hours before bedtime Turn WIFI off when sleeping Dont eat large meals before bed and reduce liquid intake Reduce Caffeine intake during the day Avoid alcohol before bed Implement strategies to reduce stress like exercise, deep breathing and meditation Article by Helen Dobra Clarence Valley Bowen Therapy References: https://www.sleephealthfoundation.org.au//SleepHealthFound https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3397790/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6473877/ https://www.helpguide.org//sleep-problems-during-coronavir https://www.mja.com.au//2013/199/8/sleep-disorders-children

02.01.2022 Bowen therapy can transform lives as it resolves many varied health conditions. There are countless stories of people who have had all manner of health problems..., who tried Bowen therapy as a last resort and miraculously resolved their issue wIthin a few treatments. We recently received a donation from Karen Blackney, who wrote to us about her 3-year-old son who suffered from chronic constipation, and associated severe abdominal pain., Every-time he needed a bowel movement he would find a place to hide & would scream in pain. As a result, he became impossible to toilet train, frightened to go to the toilet. Karen was desperate to relieve her sons abdominal discomfort and pain. After exhausting all of her options with medical intervention, and an array of alternative therapies, with limited resolve. She decided to take her sisters advice and give Bowen Therapy a go. Karen expressed after the first visit, my son started experiencing change with his bowel motion and had a significant reduction in pain. After 3 visits, the constipation and pain was totally gone and has been fine ever since. After that I had no problem toilet training him and he actually runs to the toilet with excitement. He is such a happy little boy now, my on only regret is not knowing about Bowen Therapy sooner. Karen is genuinely passionate about sharing Bowen therapy with others as it completely transformed her sons life. Like ourselves, she believes that this project will be invaluable to help educate others about this incredible modality, and was eager to share her story. In her word, Bowen Therapy is so important and the medical world, government, and private health funds need to take notice. In the near future, we hope that Bowen Therapy receives more recognition as an invaluable complementary therapy and becomes a first port of call rather than a last! You can support the project here: https://au.gofundme.com/f/these-two-hands If you would like to read the full letter from Karen, leave a comment below and we will share it with you.
