22.01.2022 20 YEARS AGO on 01/10/2000... A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away... Long before there ever was a Salsa Kingz band, there was a young band brewing by the name of 'Galaxia' destined to take Sydney by storm. Formed in the mid 1980's, they quickly evolved into "Sonora Galaxia" becoming one of the most popular Latin bands of the era. Sonora Galaxia was the band that pioneered the way for many bands in the Aussie Latin dance scene. They performed at some of the most iconic... events during the 90's including the prestigious closing ceremony of the Sydney Olympics in 2000 - The Domain (featured in video). After nearly two decades of performing around the country, they were officially hailed as Australia's premier Latin band by The Sunday Telegraph in 2000. Today they are fondly remembered by many of their fans as one of their favourite Latin bands when growing up. Three decades later, we salute all those talented musicians that at one stage of their careers were part of this incredible legacy. Today we are continually working behind the scenes to keep this musical legacy going strong. "Our mission at Salsa Kingz is to continue the legacy of our pioneering Latin band 'Sonora Galaxia'. By doing this we hope to inspire musicians everywhere to keep Latin music alive for future generations to enjoy". 18.01.2022 Who is Nestor Manuelian? He may not be a fellow musician, yet he is very BIG in the Latin music industry. He is a man respected by many, a man that wears many hats, but more importantly a man with a huge heart. He is tremendously influential and passionate about life. He is a man many admire and aspire to be. He has given his life to Dance and the Latin dance community worldwide. He is so much more than many of us put together. For those who haven't heard, he has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 Bowel cancer. Now he is sharing his journey with us, so that we may better understand his frame of mind. If you have a chance, do yourself a favour and have listen to his brave heart. YOU WILL BE INSPIRED. His twin brother Jaime said it best: "God chooses those of us that are strongest, to fight the toughest battles".

From their pioneering days as Sonora Galaxia, they have been entertaining audiences for over three decades. In 2004 they rebranded as Salsa Kingz to inspire a new generation of music lovers. What sets them apart is their strong showmanship and ability to seamlessly perform hits in English and Spanish. They are also uniquely positioned as the only official band fo...r Australia's Ricky Martin & Friends Tribute Show. Salsa Kingz have successfully combined popular Latin tunes with classic Aussie anthems. This adds a unique recipe to their performances, a combination that has propelled them as one of the nations most successful Latin bands. Their shows usually consist of a fun-packed Salsa Dance lesson that has truly become their flagship style. Their ability to engage audiences and wow the crowd are second to none, making them a real party favourite down under. Whilst keeping true to their Latin heritage, they remain a potent and pivotal force in the exciting Aussie Salsa dance scene". This highly energised Show Band specialises in creating a "party atmosphere" like no other, guaranteeing to enthuse even the most demanding of audiences up on their feet! The best way to experience their unique energy is to catch them perform LIVE on stage, churning out their hot Salsa and Merengue tunes, with their super-tight brass arrangements, explosive Latin percussion with impassioned vocalists. The band was formed by the founding band leader: Christian Guerrero, who is no stranger to the Latin scene. He was a former musician & band leader of the renowned Sonora Galaxia Band (1991-2002), extensively performing at many iconic venues including the closing ceremony of the Sydney Olympics in 2000. They have worked alongside many famous artists, such as the legendary Trombonist Jimmy Bosch from the USA, Jose Feliciano, Nicola Di Bari, Vanessa Amorosi, Jimmy Barnes, John Paul Young, Denni Hines, Savage Garden just to name a few. 13.01.2022 During the mandatory Australian Lockdowns in March of 2020, Salsa Kingz made an improv announcement and a commitment to keep entertaining all our fans through a brand new initiative called: "The Salsa Kingz LIVE SHOW". We where all stuck at home so the idea had to be simple. We went out and started a Facebook LIVE TV Show which first aired at the beginning of the Sydney Lockdowns on Saturday 28th March 2020. It ran successfully for 10 consecutive weeks until the lockdowns ea...sed on the 1st June 2020. The LIVE shows where originally produced in our home-office but by the end of the 2nd episode, we partnered with a professional team and moved our production to our friends at VC Studios. The show quickly evolved into a variety style program which included interactive games, music and a lineup of special guests. We where honored to have served thousands of homes with a beacon of hope, specially whilst the lockdowns where fully enforced. Before we knew it, our weekly 2 hour show had become a HIT sensation. Viva Magazine picked up and covered our COVID-19 story which was published in their June/July 2020 Issue. But as the saying goes "tough times never last, but tough people do". At this stage, we have no shows scheduled for the remainder of the year. This week marks 5 months since our last performance (at The Juniors Kingsford on 15/03/20). In fact, it was the same weekend when the Bondi Latin American Festival was forced to cancel. We had a big show prepared and we where really looking forward to sharing our music at that iconic event. ... We know alot of our colleagues and peers are doing it tough. But as the saying goes "tough times never last, but tough people do". At this stage, we have no shows scheduled for the remainder of the year. However, we are taking this opportunity as a much needed break, recharging our batteries and spending time with our families.
