16.01.2022 We've had back to back charters the past few weeks, it's been amazing exploring the Far Northern Great Barrier Reef, an area not too many people get to see in person. We've seen Manta Rays, dolphins, White and Black Tip sharks, Qld Groupers, Tiger, Grey Nurse, and Epaulette sharks. Too many varieties of fish to mention an abundance of beautiful corals, and turtles galore. Shout out to the team we've had on board for the #GreatReefCensus It's a privilege to be a part of th...is initiative and in great company. Stay tuned for some more Far Northern pics - it's amazing out here! 12.01.2022 Who got some vitamin sea at the weekend? From curing skin conditions to improving mental health issues, a dip in the ocean might be all it takes.. "Historically, doctors would recommend their patients go to the seaside to improve various ills. They would actually issue prescriptions detailing exactly how long, how often, and under what conditions their patients were to be in the water. Using seawater for medical purposes even has a name: thalassotherapy." Read more here: http://mtr.cool/truqnaldkj Aroona Luxury Boat Charters Cairns Australia

10.01.2022 Cleaning up the ocean along the way. Ghost nets are fishing nets that have been left or lost in the ocean by fishermen. These nets, often nearly invisible in the dim light, can be left tangled on a rocky reef or drifting in the open sea. They can entangle aquatic life, sea birds and the occasional human diver. #aroonaadventures #greatbarrierreef #cleanupaustralia

08.01.2022 Tis the season to celebrate the Christmas tree worm. While these spectacularly coloured marine creatures are renowned for their good looks, few people are aware of the important ways they protect our coral reefs. There were observations of fast recovery of living coral tissue adjacent to Christmas tree worm burrows following coral bleaching, predation, and overgrowth by turf algae. In these cases, recovery was facilitated by the presence of the worm. ... Read more here: https://www.australiangeographic.com.au//the-bright-and-c/ Amazing footage by @biopixeltv See more
