25.01.2022 With the sky starting to glow to the east and west and at the risk of missing sunrise I pulled into the 12 Apostles this morning 4 cars in the car park and a handful of happy visitors. It didn't disappoint! With a 4m swell (dipping from 5.5m overnight) my intended destination was Loch Ard Gorge (Muttonbird Island or Wreck of the Loch Ard lookout) Nothing like a face full of seaspray and a morning lightshow. 20.01.2022 Saturday disgust! On what planet is this appropriate? How could a person stand in these places and think this is OK? Given the low number of visitors on Friday (yesterday) the proportional amount of litter at Loch Ard Gorge and 12 Apostles this morning was disgraceful. Toilet paper, tissues, ice-cream wrappers, disposable masks, lolly wrappers, fast food rubbish. All on the cliff edge above a penguin colony and a Marine National Park. I don’t understand. How do we stop this and stop it now? #treasurethelandwelove

While the jury is still out on whether sunrise or sunset produces the best conditions there is furious agreement that the play of light and colour across wet limestone has to be seen to be believed.
