25.01.2022 Unfortunately due to the recent Parafield Covid cluster outbreak gyms will be closing at Middnight tonight. We have taken the proactive step at 12 Stars to cancel tonight's training session also. Anthony, James and Jordan will be getting all the latest information as it arrives from Boxing SA and we will have further comment regarding timeframes of our closure and the rules around it as we learn more about this evolving situation.
25.01.2022 A reminder to all the 12 Stars crew that we start back official training on 6.15pm Monday night at our usual St Joseph's venue. Will will be starting out the year with our usual 6.15pm to 7.45pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday for now with a possible timetable and venue change in the near future. More information will be forthcoming with that over the coming months. See you all back in the gym Monday night and let's set the foundations for a successful 2020 at 12 Stars Boxing Club!
25.01.2022 Check out our new 12 Stars online merchandise store. Back to the original 12 Stars logo and a bigger range than ever before! https://twelvestars.orders.net.au/
24.01.2022 Great night of interclub sparring at Northside. Great competitive rivalry inside the ring, great assistance, respect and even friendship inside and out.
24.01.2022 We send a message to our 12 Stars family to stay safe over this short lockdown and hopefully before too long we'll all be back learning the sweet science we all love. Although excercise outside in public is banned I remind you all that there's some great excercise routines you can do with no equipment that use minimal space at home so here's one below. 2 x 3 min round of light shadow boxing for warm up.... 1 x 3 min round of running on the spot/star jumps (alternate every 15 seconds) 1 x 3 min round of running on the spot/mountain climbers (alternate every 15 seconds) 1 x 3 min round of running on the spot/burpees (alternate every 15 seconds) 3 x 3 minute rounds of shadow boxing at sparring intensity. Sharp, flat out and full extension. Finish off with a 5 minute active cool down of really light loose movement like shadow, light skip and just a general shake out. Lockdown doesn't mean we have to be inactive! Stay sharp mentally and physically guys and if anyone is struggling reach out to James, Jordan or Anthony via this Facebook page. See you back in the gym soon!
23.01.2022 Training will be going ahead this week as normal at St Josephs, Port Rush Rd. We asks anyone that feels the slightest bit ill or has family that is not well to excercise caution and stay away from training. Also anyone thats recently returned from overseas travel is asked to have a few weeks away from the club. We have fantastic bathroom facilities at St Josephs so we ask if all members thoroughly wash thir hand before commencement of training and at the end of the session. T...his is a rapidly changing situation which is unprecedented for us all. Please keep an eye on the Facebook page for further updates. If there is a need to suspend training we will announce it here. We are aiming to be commencing training at our new venue at Fox Field Oval, Athlestone next Monday but more details on this will be released later in the week as things evolve. See more
23.01.2022 Just a reminder to all that the for tonight only the 2nd training session will be from 6pm till 7pm, not the usual 6.15pm to 7.30pm. A short sharp hour of pain administered by coach James so get your asses down and work up a sweat. All classes back to normal times next week!
22.01.2022 The power of one, the power of many. I began my boxing career under Kevin Vogelsang (buried yesterday), Sam Coombs (deceased) and my dad Denis Hill. Yesterday we gathered for Kevins funeral and there was a large contingent of old boxers who trained under him. This, I am certain is because of the outstanding mentor ship Kevin provided to all of us. ... Kevins power (his way of life) impacted on so many of us and to this day affects the way we involve ourselves with others. We (as many) say thanks Kevin, rest easy. Thank you to the Vogelsang family for sharing Kevin with us during our boxing years. May they be in someway comforted by the regard that we hold him in. Eternal rest grant onto him and May the splendour of the light of creation always shine on him. R.I.P.
22.01.2022 A very good draw for Cooper. Drawn into the final this Saturday morning. goodluck coops
21.01.2022 Notice to everyone that there will be no training this coming Friday night due to our venue being unavailable.
20.01.2022 Last night we held our 12 Stars end of season dinner at Cafe VaBenne. First up we had Stavros receive our new Junior U16 award. He's developed rapidly this year and has confidently moved into hard open and interclub sparring, never taking a backward step. Stav will be having his first bout early in 2020 and everyone at the club is extremely proud of your progress! Next was our most improved boxer award which went to Rupert who continued to go through the levels this year. He ...had his first bout mid year for a solid win and put up a great performance in his close semi final loss at the state championships to a tough, more experienced opponent who went on to win the division. Rupert will be back in the ring in 2020 looking to go one step further. Out Masters boxer award went to Victor who after year of struggling to be matched picked up his first win mid year. Then went on to represent the club at the masters games. Special mention to Gerard and Lewellyn who represented us at the masters games. Jordan once again took out our best fighter award. In a tough year transitioning into the open elites we really threw Jordan in deep, he showed us even in his close defeats that he belongs at this level. Highlights of the season were making his first nternational tournament final in Samoa picking up a silver medal and winning the selection event in SA to go on and be the first ever 12 Stars fighter to represent South Australia at the open elite national championships. After struggling to make middleweight in the back half of 2019, Jordan will be back in 2020 and moving up to light heavyweight. A big year lies ahead! In what's been a challenging year for the club both in and out of the ring but we've come through it more united than ever. With several bids pending for a new permanent home and a new structure. There should be some major announcements coming over the summer. Coach's Anthony and James would like to thank everyone at the club for helping to pull through a tough 2019. We wish everyone of the 12 Stars Boxing family a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New year. Big things to come in 2020. Watch this space!
20.01.2022 Some progress on our new venue. Coaches Anthony and James with Jorand and Cindy Richards continuing on with the set up of our new permanent home. Heavy Bag brackets and Speed Balls went up last Friday, corner posts and ring rope up today. After many years of training in a basketball hall it's all coming together for 12 Stars Boxing Club. We look forward to new beginnings!!
19.01.2022 Great to have Ibby from Iron Hook up to visit the new gym and do some work with Jordan. When we were training in a basketball hall with no equipment he always welcomed us up to his Gym with open arms to bang the bags so it was great to return the favour. Skipping and bagwork warm up, 4 sharp rounds of sparring and i finished off giving both lads a good hit up on the pads. Top way to spend a Friday morning, smiles all round!
17.01.2022 Attention all 12 Stars members! There will be no training at our usual St Joseph's base, Port Rush Rd, this Friday night. We will heading to Northside Boxing Club at 6pm this Friday for a Sparring and heavy bag session. There's already a small crew committed to attend but can anyone else wanting to head up please let Coach's Anthony or James know your intentions. For those struggling with transport we have limited room but will try our best to accommodate as many as we can.
16.01.2022 Northside appreciate 12 Stars boxers attendance for sparring recently. They have now extended a welcome to all 12 Stars members who wants to attend and train at Northside whilst our more serious boxers are present sparring etc. They have indicated that there is no extra fee to be paid to them other than the usual 12 Stars fee to 12 Stars. . Thanks Northside Boxing Club.
16.01.2022 I love this about our club. Our boxer Rupert making time to catch up with Ashly and whilst complying fully with government social distancing conventions still being able to help Ashly with her boxing footwork, general fitness and both their overall mental health. We are social beings and in these times of needing to ensure we comply fully with government regulations to keep one another healthy: we can also be there to help one another. Well done Rupert, Ashly and Grand mum Avril who watched on from the warmth and distance of her car. Thanks Avril for the donation to our club. With such support we will survive and be at the other end to keep providing supports to other members of our community.
16.01.2022 12 Stars first live stream
15.01.2022 Hi all as you are aware of had a bit of time of training for a mental health refresh. Towards the end of this refresh time I was approached and asked to assist Northside Boxing Club as they lost two trainers to a new club starting elsewhere. As this is the club where i finished my boxing career and then remained involved as trainer and assisitant coach to my dad Denis Hill as he became multiple Australian and Sydney Olympic Games Coach I am indebted to the committee at 12 S...tars Boxing Club and all who have stepped up and covered training at 12 Stars to allow me to attend a couple of nights per week and assist there. The experience has been uplifting. I have been able to assist one of their Youth Boxers (Cooper Racic) in her final preparation to attend the Youth Nationals this week. Cooper is a great chance to bring back Gold and we all wish her the best in her endeavors. In the typical 12 Stars way, Viktor, Celina and Rupert have traveled so they could spar with Coop and assist her in her final preparations. Thanks Folks I attach a video of her working out - at 54kgs, it is a bit of David and Goliath workout and for those that know the story Cooper did drop the bigger boxer but modesty, or is it ego, :) prevents me from publishing that bit See more
15.01.2022 How excited are we at 12 Stars. We have signed a lease agreement and had approved the installation of boxing gym equipment to set up our club permanently at Fox field oval Athelstone. First Orders placed. We should be relocating in three weeks. Thanks to all at 12 Stars for making this a reality.
15.01.2022 Jordan Will be fighting for the light heavyweight Boxing SA state title this weekend. We will know the date, time and exact opponent after the draw on Wednesday and will post to this page shortly after. Crowds will be allowed in and for the first time post Covid tickets will be available to walk up costomers on the door. After what's been an extremely challenging year for all involved in our great sport it would be great to see people get out in good numbers to support the event. Also for the 12 Stars family to get along and support Jordan in his quest to become our first Open Elite State Champ!
14.01.2022 Important message to all the 12 Stars Boxing Club members!!! Training at our long term base, St Josephs School on Portrush Rd has now ceased effective immediately! As you are all now aware we've been hard at work fitting out our new permanent home at Fox Field Oval in Athlestone. With the present situation regarding COVID-19 we have taken the decision to briefly suspend all training. The 12 Stars Committee will be busy putting the finishing touches on our new gym. ... Also during this time Coaches Anthony and James will be developing our strict guidelines going forward in regards to soacil distancing and hightened hygiene levels for the commencement training. I stress to everyone that this will only be a brief suspension. And although it will be in a limited capacity to control numbers we aim to commence training on Monday the 30th of March at this stage. We appreciate everyone's understanding at this difficult time. Rest assured once this is all behind us that 12 Stars will be powering forward with a facility fit for making champions!! Lastly if any of the 12 Stars Boxing family are in isolation or feeling anxious about the present situation please reach out. There's plenty of people involved with our club that are always willing to help!
13.01.2022 With the 4sq metre rule and no contact allowed we will not be opening the gym this week. Hopefully over the coming days more restrictions will be lifted and we can review the situation. Keep an eye on the Facebook page for updates!
13.01.2022 Congratulations to Stavros from our club who has accepted an offer to attend Boxing SAs highly successful State juniors/youth futures try outs. Stav has lovely head and body movement which he demonstrates in this clip slipping inside our much achieved and highly decorated fighter Llewellyn Clever.
13.01.2022 A great first night back. A fitness test - beginners education for most and light tap touch sparring for our more senior members.
12.01.2022 We are pleased to announce that after the success of several trial runs, and some great work put in by Anthony in the development of a soacil distancing session, we are now able to offer outdoor training sessions. To start we will be running 1 hour sessions 6pm to 7pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Newton Reserve, Rosdale Court, Newton. In compliance with Federal Guidelines these classes are limited to 10 so if you wish to attend please email your interest to [email protected] to check availability. Our competative fighting team and long term members have already filled many of these time slots but we may run other class or add sessions where required on other days, depending on demand. Coaches James, Anthony and Jordan are really looking forward to getting back into it and hopefully this is the first step towards the commencement of training at our new facility in the not too distant future! 10.01.2022 No training at out usual St Josephs venue on Portrush Rd this Friday night. We will be taking a team of competition fighters and those keen for an Introduction to competative sparring up to Northside for an interclub hit out. We encourage beginner's and those who purely want to box with us for excercise to attend our Monday and Wednesday classes at St Josephs as Friday night at present are being geared heavily towards our established boxers and those working towards nominating for bouts this season!
09.01.2022 New 12 Stars merchandise looking absolutely mint, modled here by our No.1 boxer Jordan Richards. New Merch, new look, new timetable and the wheels in motion for our new permanent venue. Jords will be moving up to lightheavy and along with coaches Anthony and James will be leading our small but dedicated team next year. 08.01.2022 Coopers final preperatrions for Australian Youth Titles
08.01.2022 We hope you are all coping with the new soacil restrictions in place. We urge you all to keep active while the gym is closed which not only benefits maintaining a good physical base fitness but really helps to keep clarity of thought and a strong mind in stressful times. You don't need equipment just a jog, shadow box, sit ups and push ups are fine for baseline maintenance. This downtime is also a great opportunity to study some boxing footage so over the next few weeks Myself, Anthony and Jordan will fill the void with some of the classics from our favourite eras. I'll kick it off with heavyweights in the 90s. Stay fit, stay strong and stay positive!! https://youtu.be/GF2jfzBaDWo
08.01.2022 I love that we are more than just a boxing club. Don’t get me wrong, I love how we bring a multitude of exceptional coaches, overseen by Australian Olympic Games boxing coach Denis Hill to ensure people learn to box to the best of their skills and abilities. But what I particularly enjoy about us, is that we are there for one another. Our club is very much a community caring family. (Thanks to all who contribute making it this way). In the story attached you will see one major reasons why have returned offering our socially responsible restricted numbers classes. We are here for one another! We have also commenced offering our web based training services. To join either send us an email [email protected]
08.01.2022 It's with a heavy heart that following announcement last night by the federal government we will not be able to open our new gym as planned over the coming weeks. It's a stressful time for everyone at 12 Stars Boxing Club and the Boxing community as a whole. But rest assured this will not be the end of our club and once these restrictions are lifted we will have a fantastic new facility ready to go. Please contact Coaches Anthony or James via the the inbox on this Facebook p...age for information regarding ways to train and keep fit at home also for any general support through these stressful times. We will be in contact with our active competitive fighters this week to implement an isolation training schedule for them to keep them ticking over for when we get the green light. Please stay strong and positive and once again reach out if anyone needs to talk. The 12 Stars Boxing family is here for you! See more
07.01.2022 3 days to got till one of the biggest heavyweight bouts of recent memory. Who do you have for the win? Several of the 12 Stars crew are heading to the Adelaide Casino where the fight will be on upstairs in both the Grandstand Bar and on the big screen outside in the Oasis Bar. Bring on Sunday afternoon!
07.01.2022 Our journey commenced 2007 when a small group of us commenced boxing training. In 2008 the 12 Stars Boxing Club Inc was born with Gareth Hooton Jacob Devine and Llew competing for honours of being firsts. Fittingly Jacob boxed for the club first, Gareth won our first state title and Llew our first Australian title. In fact hes won 4 with us. Since 2008 we have had 4 shifts to now finally a place we can now call our full time home. For the first time we have bags to hit and a ring to box in. To all those past and present including multiple state champion Jordan Richards, James Bernard Alan Richards, Cindy Richards, May, Denis and Matthew Keaton Hill thanks for your long and tireless efforts in helping us to be the caring boxing centred family we are.
07.01.2022 A reminder for anyone intending to train at our outdoor session at 6pm on Monday, Wednesday or Friday must let us know. If you are one of our competitive fighters that already has a standing place of preference at these sessions then you are expected to be there and be on time! If you can't attend please message Coaches James or Anthony before 5pm. Times have changed and with the new restrictions on numbers we need to know who is and isn't attending.
07.01.2022 Cooper Racic supplied me this video reminding me of a time we did social distancing training before a mandated reality. With some adjustments I reckon We could provide similar training which is compliant with regulations.

07.01.2022 I am truly greatful to the people that have indicated they would like to support us. Thankyou to Kevin Gleeson for his gift of boxing equipment you are a great man. 06.01.2022 Some important dates coming up for 12 Stars Boxing Club. We will be having our last training session for the year on Friday 13 December. Our End of season dinner and trophy presentations will held on Monday the 16th of December at Cafe Vabene, 636 Lower North East Road, Campbeltown. Please let coaches Anthony or James know if you or any family members wish to attend over the next week so we can finalise the booking. Lastly we haven't confirmed our return date to training in... the new year as yet. Our usual venue at At Joseph's on Portrush Rd isn't available till the end of school holidays. This combined with our pending applications for a permanent venue of our own means we will hold off confirming date and venue for our return to training in 2020 till mid December. Let's get down to the last 3 weeks of training in numbers and see the year out on a high! See more
02.01.2022 We've been taking advantage of the clear winter nights to do a half hour conditioning session outdoors to kick off training on Thursday nights in recent weeks. After a slow start post Covid restrictions we're slowly building up in both attendance numbers and intensity of training. Great to see some new faces joining the club over the last month who are keen to join in with the more experienced fighters. Finished off toinght with half hour of bags and pads then some solid sparring. Great session from all in attendance!
01.01.2022 We are waiting on a decision from the council tonight regarding commencement of training at our new gym at FoxField oval. This should be forth coming in the next 24 hours. Please not that one of the big changes going forward is that there will be no communal use boxing equipment to be shared between groups. Everyone must have as a minimum their own gloves, wraps, skipping rope, drink bottle and towel when attending each session. We have never been a club to turn away people ...going through hardship so If you are struggling with equipment please approach Coaches James or Anthony and they will assist where possible in providing equipment. Everyone must take their boxing equipment home after each session and sanitize it prior to the next training session. Lastly going forward you must not present to the gym if feeling unwell. Even if you have mild illness like a runny nose or cough you need to stay away till it clears up. We can assist people with excercise programs to do at home during these times. Stay tuned over the weekend. We can't wait to get the new facility and start banging away at the heavy bags! See more
