25.01.2022 Fish of the Week entry from Michael Whitehead... "G’day Bill. I’ve been chasing whiting on lure for a while now and was real keen to get amongst some topwater action with the ‘poor man’s bonefish’ .. so on Tuesday morning I headed out in the yak with the MMD Splash Prawn and flicked it around the seagrass and sandy shoals in super shallow water at the start of the runout tide. This beauty, measuring a tick over 40cm, snaffled the lure from the surface and then raced all around the river for the next couple of minutes. Before I landed this one I lost a few; because of their soft mouths the trick seemed to be to ease the drag right back and just let them make those speedster runs. Happy days. Cheers, Michael." www.fishingnoosa.com.au/fishoftheweek.htm

24.01.2022 Fish of the Week entry from Jim Brodie... "After a good night bagging a couple of snapper and a 45cm moses in the shipping channel, spent a long day on Saturday out around FAD 7 and a favourite little rock to score some reefies on chunks of bonito. After wrapping what would've been a PB around the fad we opted for a Hail Mary drift at another nearby fad. An angry little trevally as bait resulted in what has to be the biggest dolly ever caught by a bang average fisherman . www.fishingnoosa.com.au/fishoftheweek.htm

24.01.2022 Another stunning morning here in Noosa. A solid bank of low lying sea mist over the upper North Shore but otherwise blue skies. A light 3 to 5 knot north westerly breeze blowing at the river mouth. Not a lot of swell on the bar crossing but some nice little sets between the groynes for the board riders. Heaps of grommets in the water this morning. Everybody having a wonderful time. A steady stream of boats heading out. BOM forecast is for north westerly winds 10 to 15 knots tending north to north easterly 15 to 20 knots in the middle of the day. Filmed between 5.30am and 7.00am which was just coming up to a 1.76m high tide. Background Music: 'The Emperor's Army'.. by Jeremy Blake. www.fishingnoosa.com.au

23.01.2022 Young Harlen Harrison was so pleased with himself when he hooked and landed this thumper 40cm whiting in the lower estuary on Sunday that he headed straight into Davo's for a photo so he could enter the Fish of the Week competition. He was armed with a 'Tackle Rat' spin combo loaded up with a live yabby. www.fishingnoosa.com.au/fishoftheweek.htm

23.01.2022 Another lovely day here in Noosa. Blue skies over scattered cotton wool cloud. A light 5 to 7 knot north westerly breeze blowing at the river mouth. Little or no swell on the bar or in the bay. BOM forecast is for north to north westerly winds 10 to 15 knots, increasing to 15 to 20 knots during the morning then tending north to north easterly 20 to 25 knots in the afternoon. Filmed between 6.20am and 6.30am which was just after a 1.86m high tide. Background Music: 'Lazy Boy Blues'... by Unicorn Heads. www.fishingnoosa.com.au

21.01.2022 Wow!! An absolutely stunning morning here in Noosa after a wild stormy night. Blue skies and a light 3 to 5 knot southerly breeze blowing at the river mouth. The bar was pretty much flat as a tack with a few small sets either side of the channel for the long boarders and foils. Only a couple of boats out though. A bit of surface activity just outside the bar. BOM forecast is for north to north westerly winds 10 to 15 knots. Winds up to 20 knots at times in the morning and again in the evening. Filmed between 6.00am and 6.30am which was just coming up to a 1.68m high tide. Background Music: 'Hulu Ukulele'... by Chris Haugen. www.fishingnoosa.com.au

21.01.2022 Beautiful morning here in Noosa with a light 3 to 5 knot easterly breeze blowing at the river mouth. Not a lot of swell on the bar. Still a few workable sets on the Main Beach side for the board riders. Plenty of boats heading out. Birds working the bait schools out in the bay and in close near the bar. BOM forecast is for variable winds less than 10 knots inshore early. Otherwise, winds east to north easterly about 10 knots tending north to north easterly and increasing to 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon. Filmed between 5.15am and 6.55am which was roughly an hour and a half before a 2.0m high tide. Background Music: 'Sunspots'... by Jeremy Blake. www.fishingnoosa.com.au

21.01.2022 Fish of the Week entry from Luke Strahl... "Hey Bill. Landed a fingermark on Saturday while trolling the upper estuary in my kayak. It went for a Rapala Shadow Rap Jack Deep hard body. Pretty rare catch down here. Released because I want them to breed. I know how tasty they are so that was hard ha ha. Cheers, Luke." www.fishingnoosa.com.au/fishoftheweek.htm

20.01.2022 With a strong wind warning in place and 15 to 25 knot south easterlies forecast I didn't expect any boats to head out this morning. What looked like a couple in a small yacht tender did just that, however. I think it was just a couple of quick test crossings before heading back upriver. Must be thinking of heading out when the wind drops. As you can see, not much swell on the bar. Had to speed the video up a bit as they weren't going all that fast. Filmed around 6.10am which was about two and a half hours before a 1.87m high tide. Background Music: 'Arkansas Traveler'... by Nat Keefe & Hot Buttered Rum. www.fishingnoosa.com.au

20.01.2022 Fish of the Week entry from Michael Whitehead... "G’day Bill. Wanted to get out for a fish on Tuesday before the rain came so headed out early in my kayak down to the Current Line. Just fished topwater to minimise hassle from the weed - was flicking the MMD Splashprawn right at the top of the tide near the rocks up from the Sand Bags when this beaut mid 40s Bluefin Trevally smacked the Splashprawn at speed. My first Bluefin Trev, amazing colours .. happy days. Cheers, Michael." www.fishingnoosa.com.au/fishoftheweek.htm

19.01.2022 Hazy at the river mouth and out across Laguna Bay this morning with a 7 to 10 knot north westerly breeze bringing down more smoke from the Fraser Island bush fire. Otherwise not bad conditions with little or no swell on the bar. A bit of wind driven slop and chop though. Just a couple of tinnies and Cougar One on a five hour heading out while I was there. Filmed between 6.10am and 6.30am which was roughly three hours before a 1.99m high tide. Background Music: 'Morning Joe'... by Patino. www.fishingnoosa.com.au

18.01.2022 Overcast with a bit of rain moving across the outer bay this morning. A light 3 to 5 knot WSW breeze blowing at the river mouth. Plenty of fresh in the system now and more to come. Not much swell on the bar but a bit lumpy on the horizon. Some small workable sets for the foil and long boarders over towards the rock groyne. Filmed between 5.40am and 6.10am which was either side of a 1.58m high tide. BOM forecast is for north to north easterly winds 10 to 15 knots tending south to south easterly early in the later morning then tending north to north easterly in the afternoon. Only a few boats out. Background Music: 'Shoulder Closures'... by Gunnar Olsen. www.fishingnoosa.com.au

18.01.2022 Aerial drone footage of the stretch from Munna Point to the Noosa Bar and back. Our drone pilot was running late and pushed for time today... his wife's Birthday... Happy Birthday Kylie... so the shoot had to be done quickly. Not a lot of change anyway, so instead of editing out the slow bits I sped the whole thing up. As you do. Filmed around 12.45pm, Saturday October 17, 2020. Tide: One and a half hours before a 0.23m low tide. Background Music: 'Lazy Boy Blues'... by Unicorn Heads. www.fishingnoosa.com.au and www.facebook.com/scapdrones

18.01.2022 Fish of the Week entry from Tim Lawless... "Hi Bill. We fished northern Sunshine Reef this morning, heading out just after first light. The first few hours was slow, with plenty of undersize red emperor, but once we moved to Inner Sunshine we managed to land a feed of tusk fish, pearl perch and this 110cm yellowtail kingfish which Finley caught on a bottom bashing rig. We think it went for a squid bait... squid on bottom hook and pillie on top hook. Paternoster rig. Cheers, Tim." www.fishingnoosa.com.au/fishoftheweek.htm

18.01.2022 Troy Beitzel won last week's $100.00 Davo's/ChaseBaits Fish of the Week prize with these trevally which he caught in the lower estuary. 18.01.2022 Wow! Hard to tell where the smoke haze stopped and the cloud started this morning. Light to moderate north westerly winds and a Fraser Island bushfire the cause of the air pollution. Clearing as we speak. A steady stream of boats heading out. Little or no swell on the bar or in the bay although some boaties still managed to find the odd wave to play on. Should be a corker day. Filmed between 5.55am and 6.30am which was roughly an hour before a 2.13m high tide. Background Music: 'Asleep with the Sun'... by Unicorn Heads. www.fishingnoosa.com.au

16.01.2022 From Jimmy Free, Noosa River Fishing Safaris... "Leo, on holiday in Noosa, caught and released this 83cm flathead just near the fisheries office on Saturday's charter." www.fishingnoosa.com.au/riverfishingsafaris.htm

15.01.2022 Report and photos from Cougar One skipper Mitch Bertacchini... "Hey Bill. We did a five hour charter to Sunshine Reef on Sunday in near perfect conditions, surprisingly, after Saturday night's crazy weather. We had little wind or swell and a slight current to the south. We caught painted sweetlip, Moses perch, venus tusk fish, coral trout, snapper and grass emperor." www.fishingnoosa.com.au/bluewater.htm

15.01.2022 A bit gusty at the river mouth this morning with a 12 to 18 knot south easterly blowing. Not much swell on the bar but some workable sets coming through between the groynes for the foil and long boarders. No boats out. Forecast is for south easterly winds 15 to 20 knots, increasing to 20 to 25 knots later in the morning. Seas: 1.5 to 2.5 metres. Swell: Easterly 1.5 metres inshore, increasing to 1.5 to 2 metres offshore around midday. Background Music: 'Last Train to Mars'... by Dan Lebowitz. www.fishingnoosa.com.au

14.01.2022 Another beautiful day here in Noosa with blue skies and a 5 to 7 knot WNW breeze blowing at the river mouth. Plenty of boats heading out. Quite sloppy on the bar but nobody had any real issues crossing. A couple of tinnies did turn back though. BOM forecast is for northerly winds 10 to 15 knots increasing to 15 to 20 knots in the middle of the day. Winds reaching up to 25 knots in the afternoon and evening. Filmed between 5.50am and 6.40am which was about two hours before a 0.78m low tide. Background Music: 'A trip Around the Moon'... by Unicorn Heads. www.fishingnoosa.com.au

13.01.2022 Report and photo from Trekka 2 skipper Nat Turner... "Hey Bill. We fished the North Reef area on Sunday’s seven hour trip. Conditions were pretty good with light south easterly winds and a steady current from the north. This did make anchoring difficult at times. We landed quite a few Jewfish as well as pearl perch, Venus tusk fish, gold spot cod and grass sweetlip. Cheers, Nat." www.fishingnoosa.com.au/fishingoffshorenoosa.htm

13.01.2022 From Dave 'Solo Angler' Leonard... "Hey Bill. Managed to snag a nice small black marlin on a live bait on North Reef on the weekend. Got away from the 20 plus boats to find some space and fish." www.fishingnoosa.com.au

12.01.2022 Report and photo from Cougar One skipper Mitch Bertacchini... "Hey Bill. We did a five hour trip to Sunshine Reef on Tuesday morning. Conditions were a bit average with 5-10 knot south east wind and a strong current from the north making anchoring a chore holding the boat backwards into the sea but we did the best with what we had and caught a few nice cobia, venus tusk fish, moses perch, sweetlip and mahi mahi." www.fishingnoosa.com.au/bluewater.htm

11.01.2022 Went out early and checked out the river and boat ramp. Not many out. Spotted three guys fishing the Munna Point Bridge around 5.30am where I filmed the prawns and a few trevally schooling the other morning. Stopped for a chat on the way back from filming the bar around 6.30am. They had three trevally in a bucket taken on live biddies. One of the lads, Troy Beitzel, was happy to hold up a couple for a photo for the FOTW Comp. Apparently a few tailor bite offs as well. They weren't going to be fishing there again this week so were more than happy to share the spot. :) www.fishingnoosa.com.au/fishoftheweek.htm

11.01.2022 Spotted a few boils near the Munna Point Bridge around 5.30am this morning. Baitfish and prawns being chased (I assume) by trevally. Got a bit of footage before heading to the river mouth. Quite a nice morning with a 4 to 6 knot WNW breeze blowing. Not a lot of swell on the bar. Certainly not an issue anyway. BOM forecast is for west to south westerly winds 10 to 15 knots in the morning tending north to north easterly 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon. Filmed between 5.50am and 6.45am which was a couple of hours before a 1.85m high tide. Background Music: 'Mist'... by Odonis Odonis. www.fishingnoosa.com.au

09.01.2022 Report and photos from Trekka 2 skipper Nat Turner... "Hey Bill. We ran nine hour charters up to Double Island Point on Friday and over the weekend. The bottom fishing was tough with a strong northerly current and sharks making things interesting and some areas unfishable. Regardless, we still managed to land a few quality pearl perch, venus tusk fish, moses perch and Maori cod. We also spent a few hours trolling around the pinnacles at D.I on Sunday and managed a handful of longtail tuna on Halco deep divers. Cheers, Nat." www.fishingnoosa.com.au/fishingoffshorenoosa.htm

09.01.2022 From Felicity Osborne, University of the Sunshine Coast... "Would you mind sharing this post to your Facebook to try and get the word out for fishers targeting mahi mahi to release tagged fish alive or return both the internal tags and external tags to me please?"

09.01.2022 At the river mouth around 6.15am this morning, Monday November 30, 2020. A little bit of smoke haze but not too bad. A light 5 to 7 knot NNW breeze blowing at the river mouth. BOM forecast is for north to north westerly winds 15 to 20 knots, easing to 10 to 15 knots during the morning and becoming variable about 10 knots in the middle of the day, before shifting south easterly 15 to 20 knots in the early afternoon. Conditions more suited to the bigger (charter) boats. Filmed between 6.15am and 6.35am which was roughly half an hour before a 2.02m high tide. Forecast is for 10 to 20 knot variable northerlies. Background Music: 'An Army of None'... by The Whole Other. www.fishingnoosa.com.au

06.01.2022 Fish of the Week entry from Andrew Hogg... "G'day. We are up on holidays and this was our first night fishing out in the boat. Caught this jack on a live herring in the main channel, measured 43cm and we released after the photo. Also caught a GT, big bream and flathead- great first night. Regards, Andrew." www.fishingnoosa.com.au/fishoftheweek.htm

06.01.2022 Report and photo from Trekka 2 skipper Nat Turner... "Hey Bill. We fished Sunshine Reef on Sunday on a five hour trip. Conditions were glorious, but we had a hard time getting fish past the sharks on some spots. We caught pearl perch, venus tusk fish, moses perch and yellowtail kingfish. Richard from the Noosa Yachtie Fishing Club is pictured with his standout fish going just under 12kg, which he did extremely well to land on light gear. Cheers, Nat." www.fishingnoosa.com.au/fishingoffshorenoosa.htm

06.01.2022 Cloudy with a 12 to 15 knot north westerly blowing at the river mouth this morning. Only one small boat headed out while I was there. Conditions were more suited to the bigger charter boats today. A wind driven swell, slop and chop on the bar and in the bay. Filmed between 6.30am and 7.00am which was about an hour before a 1.81m high tide. Background Music: 'Liberation'... by Asher Fulero. www.fishingnoosa.com.au

05.01.2022 Fish of the Week entry from Gavin Watts, Noosa Offshore Fishing Club... "Hi Bill. Took young Eddy Walter and Harry Vanderbelt for a fish to The Hards on Sunday. Snapper were chewing. Eddy got this nice pearl perch on a knife jig and Harry’s Maori cod hammered a pilly." www.fishingnoosa.com.au/fishoftheweek.htm

04.01.2022 Wow! What a difference a day makes! Absolutely beautiful morning here in Noosa with blue skies, low lying cotton wool cloud and a 3 to 5 knot south westerly breeze blowing at the river mouth. Not a lot of swell on the bar but some nice, workable sets for the board riders over towards the groyne and further across into Main Beach. A fairly steady stream of boats heading out. BOM forecast is for easterlies about 10 knots tending north easterly 10 to 15 knots in the afternoon. Lighter south westerly winds inshore early. Filmed between 6.00am and 7.00am which was not far off a 1.89m high tide. Background Music: 'Asleep with the Sun'... by Unicorn Heads. www.fishingnoosa.com.au

03.01.2022 Report and photos from Trekka 2 skipper Nat Turner... "Hey mate. We fished up around Double Island Point on Monday’s nine hour trip. The fish were biting all day, which made for a pretty good looking esky. We caught a heap of quality gold band snapper, some big venus tusk fish, pearl perch, moses perch, mahi mahi and snapper. Conditions turned out to be pretty good with about 10 knots of easterly wind and a slight current. Cheers, Nat." www.fishingnoosa.com.au/fishingoffshorenoosa.htm

02.01.2022 Fish of the Week entry from Josh Dodd... "Hi Davo. My name is Josh and I just arrived from England and I am now living here with my family. I went fishing on Saturday for the first time at Lake Macdonald and me and my 7 year old brother caught 15 bass with our dad which we let go. The biggest one was 47cm which was excellent fun to pull in. This was my first fishing in Australia and now I am hooked! Cheers, Josh." www.fishingnoosa.com.au/fishoftheweek.htm

02.01.2022 Local angler Barry Evans was fishing off the rocks at Alexandria Bay late on Monday afternoon when his cunjevoi or sea squirt bait was taken by this 2.6kg painted sweetlip or morwong. "I was so excited. It was the biggest fish I have ever caught off the rocks or beach. Very stoked.'... said Barry. Too late to get to Davo's he put his catch on ice and popped in first thing this morning for a photo and an entry in the Fish of the Week competition. www.fishingnoosa.com.au/fishoftheweek.htm

02.01.2022 It was raining lightly at the river mouth this morning so I opted for the shelter of the Coast Guard tower. A mix of smoke, rain and low lying cloud made for a very dull grey backdrop but it was otherwise quite pleasant with a light 3 to 5 knot southerly breeze blowing. Little or no swell on the bar. BOM forecast is for south to south easterly winds 10 to 15 knots turning east to north easterly in the afternoon. Filmed between 6.15am and 6.35am which was a couple of hours before a 1.97m high tide. Background Music: 'Sky Skating'... by Geographer. www.fishingnoosa.com.au
