06.01.2022 STOP STOP STOP #OurPeople as a part of the Brigade Courses Period, are conducting the Army Combative Program (ACP). For our followers that do not know; ACP is a tiered unarmed combat program with a family of techniques. Why do we do it? Army’s mission is to prepare Land power to enable the Joint force. Despite advances in technology, hand to hand fighting remains an enduring aspect of combat. Army’s history is littered with examples: Lone Pine, Kapyong, and Afghanistan to na...me a few. Further, it also assists in developing a #CombatMindset and good #CombatBehaviours in all soldiers and officers. 06.01.2022 The Australian Light Armoured Vehicle, or ASLAV is one of the main vehicles that the 2nd Cavalry Regiment employs within its Cavalry Squadrons. It is a wheeled ...8x8 vehicle of Canadian design modified to deal with Australia's harsh conditions. It has been deployed into multiple operational theatres since 1999 and still serves as Australia’s Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle. The Vehicle weighs in at 13.45 tonnes with a length of 6.57m, width of 2.77m and height of 2.43 metres. It's powered by a Detroit Diesel Corporation V6 turbo charged diesel engine allowing for a top speed of 100 kilometres per hour. Although initially capable of amphibious operations, modifications to the vehicle have since made it too heavy to float and is now restricted to land operation only. The combat reconnaissance vehicle role will soon be taken over by Rheinmetall’s Boxer CRV to modernise the Australian Army’s armoured vehicle fleet. This will see the ASLAV transition out of service within the next few years.
