23.01.2022 Creating a safe, secure and positive learning environment allows children to feel comfortable, build up their self esteem and sense and respond to a feeling of belonging. Today, the children have had a happy and friendly day sharing and expressing their opinion about R U OK Day. Asking each other how they feel for the day, children understand the value of connecting themselves with others and recognising their emotions. To show their appreciation for one another, children made clay love hearts for their friends reassuring them they feel OK.

23.01.2022 When children engage in water play, they enhance their social skills, increase their ability to concentrate on activity, encourage role play and promote sensory development. In Kookaburras room, we created a water play space of different animals that live both in water and land. When children saw their educator add grass and plants into the tub, they were so excited to begin exploring with it naming all the animals and throwing questions with each other where else do animals live other than water.

22.01.2022 What a fantastic and rewarding moment seeing a child copy your action in a happy and positive way. As educators, we initiate a one to one interactions with children during daily routines and respond sensitively to their attempts of learning things. When Parineet showed us her clapping skill, we cheered for her ensuring that she experiences pride and confidence in her achievement.

21.01.2022 Over the past few weeks, we are talking and learning about sustainability and recycling. Children are involved with a range of indoor and outdoor activities with their teachers. To enhance their learning about sustainability, we used plastic spoons and made people out of them. All the resources we used were recycled. While making this activity children were displaying their fine-motor skills and visual motor skills. Later on, the children were engaged in dramatic play. This was a perfect extension to the initial activity. Children had fun making their own stories to engage with dramatic play.

21.01.2022 The best way to make children good is to make them happy Oscar Wilde Today we are so excited to deliver our little care packages that we have put together for the beautiful children who couldnt attend our service due to stage four restrictions. Throughout this trying time we want you to know that we are thinking of you all and this little care package will help children get through and to continue learning from home until they will be able to return. We are all in this together...

If they say they are not ok, offer your support and an ear to listen!!! If they are ok, that person will know youre someone who cares enough to ask. #nationalruok #support

20.01.2022 Over the last few weeks, Monash Health and 123KIDS representatives had conducted a few PD sessions discussing about self-regulation of children in Early Childhood. The aim is to support children identify their feelings and emotions and other children around them. Monash Health also offered us a list of movies that children could choose from to watch. Today the children had a permitted viewing day about the movie Inside Out. This animation movie gave children an opportunity to learn about growing up and how to handle and react to their biggest emotions. Surely, children enjoyed the movie and had an open ended discussion after watching it.

20.01.2022 What an exciting day the Platypus children have had involving to harvest some organic bok choy. A few weeks back, children planted bok choy seeds and over the period of time they helped their educator water the seeds and watch them grow day by day. Children enjoyed pulling up and picking large leaves that later on, they gave in the kitchen to cook for lunch.

20.01.2022 Todays science experiment Crayon Melted Art. Using some broken crayons, as a group we used PVA glue and stuck the crayons on the big cardboard using a hair dryer the children began melting them across the cardboards. The children showed curiosity and fascination as they watched the crayons melt moving in different directions (they look like Fireworks the older children described them.) Some children were also curious to hold the dryer observing how fast the crayon melt from the hot air being blown from the hair dryer!

20.01.2022 Today the children were engaged with a variety of science related activities. Amongst them, the kinder children were interested in telecommunications and how it works, so with the help of the kinder teacher, the children went back to basics and made cup telephones. While making the cup telephones the children learned more about sound waves and the science behind the cup telephones. Sound waves are created when sounds make vibrations in the air. In this activity, the children voices vibrated the air inside the cup, which are then transferred to the bottom. The bottom of the cup passes the sound waves to the string, and so on to the other cup.

19.01.2022 Kinder and pre kinder children collaborated to learn about Red Nose Day Today. They learned the importance of Red Nose Day and why its celebrated using an educational video made for their age group. The children used the Red Nose Day to explore more about the colour RED. The children were engaged in pasting and spray painting activities using red. The children were quite amazed to know that they cannot make red colour using any other colours. It paved the way for children to learn more about primary and secondary colours as an extension.

18.01.2022 The Platypus children have had a busy day involving in creative play stacking, constructing and connecting blocks together to make a tower. Children watched each others tower observing what colour they use, sharing ideas, creating patterns and discussing to share the blocks amongst everyone. 15.01.2022 The global COVID-19 pandemic has really opened our eyes about how germs spread amongst people and we have learned the importance of social distancing and hand hygiene. At 123KIDS, promoting hand hygiene is part of our daily practice ensuring children wash their hands with soap and water as often as they can. Today, the children were excited to participate in a science experiment called Pepper and Soap where they have to dip their fingers in the soap and immediately touch the water with pepper. Children observed that the pepper moved quickly from the centre to the edges. This kind of experiment gives children a visual idea, why they should use soap to wash their hands and the pepper represents germs and how they scattered when touching the soap.

12.01.2022 Today we read the book, Bilby moon. The story tells us about the little bilby who was amazed by the moon appearance every night until one day she noticed that a piece of the moon was missing away and asked her friends to help her find it. Reading this book teaches children about the phases of the moon using a variety of Australian native animals and the science related to it. Learning the wonder of the moon as its waxing and waning, children got involved in pasting activity to create their favourite moon.

12.01.2022 What a productive day the children have had engaging in a science experiment how to make compost in a bottle. Using vegetable peel we got in the kitchen and bottles from sustainability shelf, children were very intrigued to begin making their compost after an educator showed it to them. We also have an interesting discussion about plants life cycle and how the compost help them grow.

12.01.2022 Today the children enjoyed a little group time singing songs and playing with their favourite sensory toys. We also invited them to check the photos that we posted by the wall and they were so excited looking at themselves and recognising everyone on it. Seeing themselves being respected and valued, the children develop a positive sense of who they are and feel the sense of belonging as part of community.

11.01.2022 Playing with sand is an incredible tool to help children develop great skills not only sensory learning but also communication and social learning. The children enthusiastically engaged in sand play digging and measuring sand using containers, cups, spoons and funnels. The children socialised with each other through sharing objects, negotiating, making stories while making their creations and most of all having lots of fun.

10.01.2022 Today at circle time, the children were asked one important but interesting question What do you want to be when you grow up? The children started to think of any profession and imagined anything they want to be when they grow up. One by one they raised their hands to answer the question and used their thinking to give a further explanation. It was indeed a fun circle time where children become confident with their own answers, thoughts and ideas.

The children cored their own lemons whilst in the process of doing this step they began tasting what the lemon may taste like (sour, yummy good for your tummy where just some of the ...descriptions). Choosing their own colours and adding dishwashing they begun stiring the lemon using craft sticks it created coloured frothy bubbles.
