23.01.2022 Garbage truck fire - Warriewood.... 8 a.m. yesterday, the driver was on his rounds on Daydream Street when he smelled smoke. A quick check revealed the source - the back of his truck.... He dumped the load, called Triple Zero then waited for the firies to put out the flames. Drink drive - Newport.... Doing a U-turn at traffic lights will draw attention. So it was a little after 7 p.m. last night on the Barrenjoey Road. With a roadside breath test positive, back at the station the 71-year old driver returned a low range blood-alcohol reading of 0.063. Result: Licence suspended and fine issued. Bike stolen - Freshwater.... It was late Sunday afternoon when the girl left her bike with a friend's outside a home on Soldiers Avenue while she went for a swim. She came back to find her bike gone.

20.01.2022 It's been a little while between postcards but Beaches police are continuing to do our part operating COVID check points on the NSW/Victoria border. This post sees our officers at Euston, population around 795, on the banks of the Murray River not too far from the border with South Australia and around 1,000ks from home.

19.01.2022 Arrests #1.... Our Proactive Crime Team has been investigating last week's theft of property from garages in a unit complex at Manly. The property ranged from a disabled parking permit to electronics and a stamp collection.... Early yesterday, Crime Team officers executed a search warrant at a unit, also in Manly. Recovered have been a stamp collection, drugs, a doctor's prescription pad, identification cards and car keys belonging to a number of people. A 29-year old man has been refused bail on break, enter and steal charges. A 24-year old woman is also bail refused on charges including aggravated break and enter, take and drive conveyance, unlicensed driving and drug possession. Court appearances to follow. Arrest #2.... Investigations into the theft, late last month, of property from a garage in Balgowlah have led to our Proactive Crime Team executing a search warrant on a unit in Queenscliff. Property stolen had ranged from a power drill to golf clubs and bottles of gin. A power drill has been recovered and an arrest made. A 34-year old man's been refused bail on a charge of break, enter and steal.

17.01.2022 The caller sounded foreign and the room they were in was busy. "We're ringing about the phone you've ordered," she said. When the 82-year old Balgowlah man told her he hadn't ordered a phone she said the transaction would have to be investigated.... From there he was transferred many times, supposedly to "security" then to "finance", then to "tech support", all designed to make the process seem legitimate. Then the catch: he was asked to install screen sharing software which he did. That gave them instant access to his bank account and a large amount of money which they quickly siphoned overseas.

15.01.2022 In the course of their investigations into break, enter and steal and steal from motor vehicle offences, our Proactive Crime Team officers have recovered a large number of keys. Car keys, house keys, keys on rings and keys on their own. If you've had keys taken, we ask that you have a look at the attached pictures. ... Anyone recognising keys belonging to them is asked to call Ben Felettigh or Karen Hennessy on 9976 8183.

13.01.2022 Malicious damage - Manly..... 5 p.m. Tuesday and police were called to reports of a man walking along the footpath on Stuart Street kicking cars, putting a large dent in the door of one. Investigations led officers to an address not too far from there.... Result: a man's been handed a notice to attend court next month. Drink drive - Mona Vale.... Hitting a gutter with enough force to damage your car and flatten a tyre will draw attention. So it was late last night on Waterview Street. Police arrived to breath test the driver who returned a mid-range reading of 0.140. A 21-year old Beacon Hill man will face court in December. Theft of caravan - Bantry Bay... A Millard Tourer van's been stolen from where it was parked and secured on Bantry Bay Road. Steal from car - Freshwater....
