24.01.2022 Getting back into training after an extended break? Here are some tips on how to take care of your body and reduce your risk of injury! Before picking up those weights again it is important to note that you may have lost some muscle and strength over this time which is totally normal. Be cautious when choosing which weights you use - as we exercise less and become deconditioned to training, our risk of injury increases. ... While deconditioning can be rapid, reconditioning the body can be slower. That's why even after 1 week without training you may feel sore and out of breath after your first session back - so after a big break off training you might be feeling tight, puffed and exhausted way before you are used to. These are all normal signs that will improve as we ease ourselves back into training over the next few weeks. It is important to note these conditions before engaging in high intensity movements or increasing loads too quickly. Jumping straight back into intensities and load levels can increase the risk of injury. We recommend to ease back into your routine, reducing your intensity and load to 60-80% of efforts and gradually increasing it over the next few weeks. Ensuring you warm up effectively is also important to make sure your muscles are warm and ready before exercising
