20.01.2022 MULTI FACTOR AUTHENTICATION What is Multi Factor Authentication Multi Factor Authentication, Two Factor Authentication, MFA and 2FA. Multiple names referring to the same thing.... MFA is an internet security system that verifies your identity by asking you if it’s really you trying to login to that website, email or application on your computer or smart device. With out MFA, your username and password could be compromised with you knowing. A malicious person can acquire your online credentials and steal all your information. With MFA, when you logon or sign in you will be asked for your username and password, than you will be sent either an email, text message, received a phone call, or you can use the Microsoft Authenticator App on your Smart Device to verify that is you that is logging on. It sounds like just another step that will make life harder. It is another step and it may feel like it’s a waste of time. What a real waste of time is finding out your online account has been compromised, and the System Administrator has disabled your account, reset your password, and enable MFA in order to protect your data and the data of your organisation. Another 15 second is it all it takes to protect your intellectual property. What do I have to do? No, not normally. You’ll be asked to authenticate on each new device. Once the new device and location is trusted you won’t be asked again. However, if you sign in from the same device but from a different location (Hotspot, Public WiFi, Hotel WiFi) you will be asked to authenticate again. It’s a small price to protect your data and intellectual property. 04.01.2022 WHAT IS MOBILE DEVICE MANAGEMENT? What is mobile device management? ... Mobile Device Management (MDM) is a secure, managed way to help take control of your mobile fleet. What are the benefits of MDM? If your business uses a smart phone app on all mobile devices, MDM allows you manage that App. It cuts down the time to deploy and configure the app. Instead of manually handling each device, downloading, configuring each device with user credentials and testing it, you can test it on one device and the MDM platform will push out the app to the rest of the Mobile Fleet.
