24.01.2022 A year after getting their driveway done by 1300 Driveways, one of our awesome Vermont customers would now like their backyard completed (so stay tuned!) 24.01.2022 We finished up the exposed aggregate work for this home in Clyde in the Ramlegh Park Estate just before Christmas. The house surrounds, and driveway with extra parking was done in colour 'Balcombe' from Mentone Pre Mix. 19.01.2022 Things dont always go to plan, and when they dont, its important to step up and do the right thing! After completing the excavation on this little beauty in Ashburton, we noticed excessive water spilling out from underneath the retaining wall on the neighbours boundary creating a very soft muddy area with pooling in (what would be) the base underneath our new exposed aggregate driveway. Ultimately this is never a good thing as soggy earth under your concrete base will mo...st likely cause ground movement issues and cracking in years to come! So, with the concrete due to arrive within a few hours, we had to quickly put our qualified landscape gardener brains together and got cracking to install an agricultural drain running at the toe of the retaining wall, eliminating all future issues and combatting the problem at hand! If a job is worth doing, then do it right! A big thanks to Mentone Pre Mix, Road Safety Grating (R&S) and Auseal-Curite for always delivering the awesome goods that ultimately make our work as good as it is! #concretedriveways #concreteconstruction #melbourneconcreter

This front porch and driveway in Ashwood were created with an off white mix from Mentone Pre Mix, while the rest of the house was completed with a classic charcoal concrete. It feels great to be back working on homes post lockdown!

18.01.2022 Here is a classic example of the type of jobs we do. For this Clyde property, we did the Exposed Aggregate driveway in our old favourite, Caruana Off White, from Mentone Pre Mix with coloured pathways and back areas from Vic Mix Concrete. While you want your concrete to look great, it is critical to get all the drainage and the levels spot on, ensure that there is a minimum 50mm clearance under the weep holes and that all concrete has expansion foam against the house. Done incorrectly and this can void your builders warranty! So dont just choose your concrete company on price, choose by the quality of their work and their experience!

Dealing with this wet site wasnt easy, but the result is a tribute to the top work Glascotts do. We were happy to do our part laying the footpaths, concrete edging and the softfall underlay.

The steep angle of the ramp would scrape the bottom of the homeowners cars, so we reshaped the slope with exposed aggregate concrete. 12.01.2022 WHAT MAKES A QUALITY CONCRETE JOB? There are a lot of "concreters" out there but the difference between a job that looks great and lasts the test of time and an average job is based on many factors but here is our top 5 as displayed on this #mteliza project. 1. A Skilled experienced crew that works together daily. Too many "concreters" get workers last minute off Facebook sites. @1300driveways our teams are made up of great loyal concreters that have been part of our team fo...r many years. 2. Base preparation. Levels Must be prepped to exact depths and compacted thoroughly. You can quote thickness of concrete and gauge of steel etc. But if your base isnt prepped to perfection then it counts for very little. 3. Correct Levels and drainage. With this job we installed @rsgrating heel guard strip drain across garage. As well as a 650mm pit to centre of driveway using 150mm pvc to handle big down pours. 4. Structural Integrity including Good Thickness, correct steel work. We did this job 125mm thick with sl72 steel on Bar Chairs. Note the rebar around drains also at the weakest points. And Control joints and expansion joints done correctly. Including all expansion foam against building. 5. Clean and tidy work practices. We taped up this job to eliminate any property damage from pumping concrete. Attention to detail and pride in the finish of the work from the screeding through to the trowelling and right through to the acid washing and two coats of sealer. So if you are going to get a driveway in the future and someone is cheaper by $10 a sqm ask yourself what you are really paying for! @ Mount Eliza, Victoria, Australia

By using strategically placed connolly expansion joints and saw cuts within 24 hours of the pour, we managed to create 360sqm of perfect "Caruana Off-White" exposed aggregate with no cracking on this Point Leo home.
