18.01.2022 These guys have great snake bite first aid kits, and they’re apparently having a sale. Might be worth a look.
17.01.2022 A little bit bored. Thought I’d play around with the airbrush. Something I’m hoping to learn to use properly, with the hope of doing Australian snake art. Don’t quit my day job, eh?
16.01.2022 Got to release this beautiful girl today. Accidentally injured by a brush cutter, she was slowly and painstakingly brought back to health by the dedication of the Carer. With winter and lockdown restrictions, she had to stay a little longer than she probably needed to, so she was no doubt happy to be back home today. Thanks to the homeowners for calling as soon as they were aware of her, and for taking her back. Now they know that she’s around, they’ll be taking care when doing some brushcutting.
16.01.2022 Been interested in getting into airbrush art lately, and came across this video on YouTube. Some amazing work. Enjoy. https://youtu.be/hcLgprLbN1w
13.01.2022 Did my daily exercise today, by going for a walk with a friend (socially distanced of course ). With both of us being catchers and it being such a beautiful day, we thought we’d walk near the river and hope we’d see a snake. As it turned out, we saw 7. All Tigers. Do you think either of us got a single photo or bit of footage? Not one between the two of us. Anyway, next time perhaps. For now, enjoy this garden skink. For those who aren’t aware, Snake Catchers are still working. So if you do need a snake removed, please don’t hesitate to call. All covid guidelines are being followed, so you needn’t worry about that. I hope you’re all well and safe.
13.01.2022 Hi friends. Apologies for the lack of content on the page. Like everyone, I haven’t been able to get out much to do the things I normally would be at this time of year, and snake calls in my area have been few and far between. No doubt you’ve been seeing a lot of sightings on your local groups, so you’d know our snakes are pretty active. So I figured it’s probably a good time to encourage people to brush up on their snake bite first aid. Personally I think the best first aid ...is avoidance. Watch where you’re walking, don’t put your extremities in any space that you can’t see (under tin, timber etc), and always give space to any snake you see. If you do these things, hopefully you’ll never need any other aid apart from your own wits. Having said that, sometimes accidents do happen, so it’s probably good to know what to do in the event of a snake bite. Rather than write it all out, I’ll leave you with a link to St Johns snake bite information, which should be the most up to date. Please take the time to read it. It could save your life, or that of someone you love. Just for good measure, I’ll add a link in the Comments section to Wicked Wildlife’s first aid video, as well as another for a decent snake bite first aid kit. Please share this post or at least the St Johns link on your own timelines, to encourage your family and friends to learn what to do. Stay safe. https://www.stjohnvic.com.au/ne/snake-bite-first-aid-tips/
10.01.2022 Hi friends. Hope you’re all well. Just doing a special today, around my own area. $50 flat rate around South Morang, Mernda, Doreen, Plenty and Yarrambat. If you hear of anyone in these areas that needs a snake relocated, please feel free to let them know. Stay safe friends. Update. This special will continue throughout Sunday as well.
09.01.2022 What a perfect day for a snake.
09.01.2022 A little fella I saw in Kinglake yesterday, while in the area to release the Bluey.
08.01.2022 Having a day out with a friend around Kyneton. Went for a walk up Hanging Rock and got to see this timid young Copperhead. Just can’t get away from them, even on my time off. Jessica Bowman
08.01.2022 I’m very fortunate to live in an estate with lots of parkland and wetlands, as well as many different species of wildlife that are somewhat used to human activity. One of my neighbours alerted me to two of our coolest wild animals that probably should have got themselves a room. Haha. So, wildlife pervert that I am, I decided it was time for my daily walk in the park. Talk about stamina, these two Eastern Browns were apparently at it for over an hour before I happened along,... and were still going when I left. If anyone is confused about what snakes look like when they’re fighting as opposed to mating, this little bit of footage ought to clear that up. These two definitely aren’t fighting. (I was gonna put some funky 70’s music over this, but couldn’t be bothered. Haha.) Enjoy. (But not too much, ya sicko. )
02.01.2022 Hi friends. Due to personal reasons, I need to take a short amount of time off from catching. There is a possibility that when I come back to it, I may have a different number. I will keep you informed. In the meantime, fellow catchers Lee Mountney and Sam Edwards are covering the area. I hope you’re all well. Stay safe. Steve. Lee Mountney 0432 380 221... Sam Edwards 0448 922 044
02.01.2022 And, a perfect night for a snake. Just a heads up, they are likely to be active throughout this evening, so please be mindful. I’ve not long returned home from a Copperhead just out of Whittlesea, and I referred a job since then to a catcher in Wallan.
01.01.2022 Hi everyone. While I am still on break for another few days, I have updated my phone number on the cover photo, as well as the call now button. Sorry to make you all change it if you have it stored in your phone. For those who haven’t seen the new number, it is 0434 919 300.... I will let you know when I’m actively catching again. Stay safe.
