Jupiter and Saturn are set to align on Monday, 21 December 2020 in an out of this world, once-in-a-lifetime event The Perth Observatory says the planets will be so close, they'll appear as a single bright star. ... "The last time the two planets were this close was on the 16th of July 1623," they said. You don't need a telescope to see it - just look west from 7:30pm onwards. "It is a naked eye event as they'll nearly appear as one star but to see Jupiter, its moons and Saturn, you'll need at least binoculars or a small telescope," the Perth Observatory said. For those south of the river, the Perth Observatory and Fremantle Sidewalk Astronomy will set up telescopes at the picnic area at Dogs Beach in North Coogee from 7:45pm to 9:30pm. If you live north of the river, BinoCentral and the Astronomical Society of Western Australia will hold a telescope night at Burns Beach from 7:30pm. Let us know if you see it! 03.01.2022 Two women have been charged with breaching self-quarantine rules after recently returning to WA from interstate. Police say they visited a home in Rockingham yesterday where a 37-year-old woman and her four-year-old daughter were supposed to be quarantining for 14 days. However, they were not home and had allegedly taken a walk to a nearby park. ... Police also visited a motel in Rivervale yesterday where a 50-year-old woman was expected to be self-quarantining. However, it is alleged she had left in her car to visit a fast food restaurant. Police also allege the woman left the motel on three other occasions during her stay to buy food. Both women will now complete the remainder of their quarantine period at a hotel at their expense. Police said it was a reminder that while border restrictions were easing, quarantine orders were still being enforced. Two new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Western Australia overnight. Both of the cases two men, one aged in his 30s and one in his 50s are in hotel quarantine after returning from overseas. There are 19 active cases of coronavirus in the state.

01.01.2022 MISSING PERSON - PLEASE SHARE WA Police are currently coordinating an extensive search of the Swan River in Ascot for missing man Benjamin Prior. The 30-year-old was driving a boat at approximately 5.10pm yesterday (Tuesday, December 1) when he fell overboard. He was the only person on the boat.... Water Police are searching the river with land based Police personnel patrolling the river banks.
