13.01.2022 Suspension of Masters Squash Pennant due to Coronavirus The Masters Squash Committee today after consultation with Squash Australia and Squash SA who are acting on medical advice from the State and Federal Governments has decided to suspend the Masters Squash Pennant competition until further notice. This decision was made in the interests of the health and safety of all masters players and will be reviewed on a weekly basis with the hope that we can resume the competition as... soon as possible. I have attached a communique from Squash SA on this issue. During this time while competition is suspended we hope you can understand and appreciate the reasons why we have made this decision. John Wood President South Australian Masters Squash Communication from SquashSA Squash SA Communique re the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in relation to Pennant Competitions. The Board and the Administrative team of Squash SA has been, and is, regularly monitoring the coronavirus issue with the response by Governments and sporting organisations moving rapidly on a daily basis. Our concern is always the health and welfare of our participants and any actions we take or will take in the future will be in the best interest of our participants health and in the best interests of the sports of Squash and Racquetball. As recently as in the last few hours we have consulted widely and have received feedback from Squash Australia, our sister State and Territory peak bodies and from Clubs, individual players and other bodies. We have also seen a number of teams looking to, at this stage, remove themselves from the pennant competition and a number of players who for various reasons are very concerned about playing at this time. Squash Australia has also decided to postpone two national junior competitions and is maintaining a watching brief on how the sport should react to the spread of the virus. Given these circumstances and with the best interests of our players in mind, Squash SA, as of the 16th of March 2020, is immediately suspending (until further notice) all Squash SA, Squash and Racquetball pennant competitions. Squash SA also commits to providing weekly updates regarding the situation until it is deemed appropriate to reinstate the competitions. SA Masters Squash has been contacted and have committed to follow suit and will contact their players today. Squash SA also highly recommends that Clubs that have in-house competitions also look to suspend those competitions until further notice. We understand the concerns of our Clubs and players and appreciate your cooperation and please know that the health and safety of our members and stakeholders is of paramount importance. We will continue to seek, and take, the best medical advice we can from the medical fraternity and will continue to communicate with all Clubs and Players going forward. Sam Abishara President Geoff Baynes CEO Squash SA

04.01.2022 Further to last weeks decision to suspend the masters squash competition, I will send out further updates as they come out. Yesterday a decision was made by the Federal Government to close all indoor sports centres and this includes Squash centres from midday today until further notice. As a result of this decision all masters squash venues are now shut. I have included the email sent out by Squash SA on the issue today. Regards... John Wood SA Masters Squash From Squash SA During this unpresented period we at Squash SA are endeavouring to provide all Clubs and the wider Squash fraternity with the most up to date information. We are taking the COVID-19 pandemic very seriously and our primary focus is the health and well-being of all of our Squash and Racquetball players, staff, clubs and centres. There is now a direction from the Chief Health Officer that all indoor sporting centres/clubs including squash centres must be closed as of 12 noon 23 March 2020 until further notice. All pennants, tournaments, in-house and social squash and racquetball must now be suspended and if there are any variations of this position we have been informed there will be significant fines imposed. If you have any questions or require any information, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we will try to provide the most up to date advice. Regards Geoff Baynes Squash SA
