21.01.2022 [English below] 2019 -19 -19 / 24 ( 530 ) (The Glo...bal Fund) The Global Fund 3 / 2545 38 2562 6 ------------------------------------------------------------------- Other infectious diseases haven’t disappeared with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. In some instances, COVID-19 has diverted time, attention and funding away from other challenges. Progress made in the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria in Southeast Asia is under threat, so Australia will target $24 million of its investment in The Global Fund to directly support the needs of the Indo-Pacific region. Our region still bears 62% of the global burden of tuberculosis cases. The Global Fund was created to dramatically increase resources to fight three of the world’s most devastating diseases: HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. Thanks to this partnership, which brings together diverse stakeholders, 38 million lives have been saved since 2002, including 6 million in 2019 alone.

12.01.2022 [English below] 30 ? ... ReCharge GIZ Thailand Almost 30 kilometres from the mainland, how is Australia contributing to the livelihood and quality of life of local people on the remote Bulon Don Island in Satun province? Well, the answer lies in the Australian Embassy’s support for providing clean solar energy to the Moken (Sea Gypsy) community on Koh Bulon Don. The project provides small-scale solar systems including panels, battery and energy-efficient appliances to households and small businesses on the island. The project is managed by the local community themselves and delivered as a partnership between ReCharge, GIZ, the Ministry of Energy and the Australian Embassy’s Direct Aid Program. Thanks to Khun Tanai, the Ministry of Energy and the Bulon Don community for the very warm welcome. We are proud to contribute to sustainable development in Thailand.
