Earlier - Emergency service crews are currently on scene at a structure fire on Gardiner Street. Traffic diversions are currently in place for Gardiner St, Woods St and McMinns Street. Please avoid this area if possible. Smoke from this fire may affect visibility. Firefighting crews may be working close to the roadside. Please ensure you slow down. People parked on McMinn Street may experience delays getting to their vehicles. People suffering from asthma or breathing ailments should consider avoiding the area or staying indoors. 21.01.2022 Two men have been issued a Notice to Appear in Darwin Local Court following an alleged theft from a charity fundraiser at a Stuart Park eatery. The property has been handed in to police. Police thank the public for their assistance in this matter.

21.01.2022 *** UPDATE 11am: The road is now clear ** Emergency Services have responded to a road crash on Campbell Road, Knuckey Lagoon. Two people have been taken to hospital with what are believed to be serious but not life threatening injuries.... Power lines have been dislodged as a result of the crash and Power and Water are working to make the area safe. Campbell Road Road is currently closed to all traffic at the intersection with Stevens Road and Thorngate Road. All traffic is requested to avoid the area.

A storm has passed through the Adelaide River area and Police have received multiple reports of trees down across the Stuart Hwy. including two fallen trees 30klm south of the town. 15.01.2022 Police recruits Jake and Rhys were doing driver training at East Point when they came across an injured dog, and - always ready to help - took the doggo into custody. After being subjected to numerous pat downs and belly rubs, the pupper was safely delivered to the local vet for treatment and to track down its people. We understand a happy reunion has taken place.

14.01.2022 Police are calling for anyone with information regarding a structure fire on McMinn St last Friday to come forward. Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Malogorski said, Around 2:30pm on Friday 6 November, police and fire services were called to a structure fire on the corner of McMinn St and Gardiner St in the Darwin CBD. The derelict house had been abandoned for some years, but it is understood was sometimes frequented by squatters. It was not occupied at the time of the fire. ...The building was fully engulfed by flames and neighbouring buildings were evacuated as a precaution. No injuries were reported. Police would like to hear from anyone who was in the area around 2pm on Friday afternoon who may have seen any suspicious activity. It is a busy area and people may have dashcam footage from the time. Anyone with information is asked to contact 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Please quote reference number 9473474.

04.01.2022 FATAL CRASH - NOONAMAH Detectives from the Major Crash Investigation Unit are at the scene of a fatal crash on the Stuart Highway south of Noonamah. Three vehicles were involved in the crash which occurred around 9.00pm, with one person declared deceased at the scene.... Two other people were taken to hospital with serious injuries. Both lanes of the Stuart Highway have been closed between Cox Peninsula Road and Townend Road with traffic diversions in place. These are expected to remain in place through the night. Anyone who was in the area at the time is urged to contact NT Police on 131 444.
