25.01.2022 I never do anything by half measures..... On Thursday morning at 3 am I woke up feeling quite sore and bloated, I also noticed a stream of phlegm running down the back of my throat. 25.01.2022 Legends aren’t born, they’re made! My first official digital artwork and I’m over the moon Artists statement ... ‘As of today, the 18th of October, it is Holden’s last year of racing at the one and only Mount Panorama Circuit, Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000. To mark this historic day I thought it would be poetic to release my first official digital artwork, Legends aren’t born, they’re made! This piece is a tribute to the iconic legends that I have admired ever since Dad introduced me to the Great Race, and yeahhh, I was immediately hooked! This includes best race track in the world, the one and only Mount Panorama, the 1971 LC Holden Torana driven by Peter Brock and the 2019 ZB Holden Commodore driven by Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup. For all of those race fans around Australia and around the world, the ‘edge of your seat moments’ will live us for the rest of our lives. GOOO THE MIGHTY HOLDENS!!!’ It’s hard to believe that it is the end of Holden and we are gutted that we can’t be there for the historic day... but we’re extremely excited and I can assure you, we’ll be glued to the telly Now it’s Dads birthday today... so we’re really hoping the team at Red Bull Holden Racing Team, specifically our ideals, Lowndesy and Whincup can get the job done and stand on that top step, good luck boys and do us all proud! 20.01.2022 A wheelie good story! After 4 and a bit years and god knows how many kilometers ticked over, I decided to donated The Dark Night (my old wheelchair) to our buddy Jaydon. When SPS struck me I went quite some time without a wheelchair, which was extremely difficult given how bad I was getting, that is until our generous neighbor, Carol, loaned her wheelchair to me until I could get my own. I used that chair for a year and a half before I could get the funds for The Dark Nig...ht. I know exactly how difficult it can be to go through the process of applying for a wheelchair, getting approval for the funds, finding a wheelchair to suit and then having it built. It can take awhile! It is this exact reason I decided to donate The Dark Night to someone who needs it and will get a lot of use out of it - maybe not as much as I did, as I’m a bit of a mad man hahah - but knowing Chris and John, I don’t doubt Jaydon will get a lot of use out of it. When we saw Jayds smile as he went up and down the footpath, it was all we needed to know that it’s a great fit Also, Happy Birthday buddy!! We hope you’ve had a fabulous day and that smile of yours keeps shinning mate. 18.01.2022 What a difference a week can make.. This time last week I was sitting in ED in a lot of pain dropping jokes and preparing for surgery v currently, finishing my week with a workout. On Monday I was released from Hospital as the Doctors were very impressed with how I was dealing with the pain, that and I didn’t want to take up a bed any longer than I needed to. Yeah it was extremely painful but I’ve had worse, unfortunately, SPS still takes the cake on that one. The pain to...lerance that I have has allowed me to push through it without having to rely on as much breakthrough pain relief as expected by the Doctors. Never underestimate the power of ones mind, as you can push through a fair bit with the good old saying, ‘mind over matter, if it don’t mind, it don’t matter’. Since my surgery I have managed to old man shuffle straight back into my rehab program, which has seen me complete 2x Physio (North Wollongong Physiotherapy), 2x Exercise Physiology (Beaton Park and Lakeside Leisure Centres) and 1x Osteo (Terry Stewart Osteopath connected with Body Dynamics Illawarra). Thanks guys, you lot are truly an amazing team! Movement is key and if ya don’t move, ya don’t move! I’m still in more pain than I’d like and don’t worry, I am taking some down time amongst Uni and everything else that’s going on in my crazy life so I can rest and recover. But, I must say, I’m bloody stoked with how my recovery is going so far I just wanna say a huge thanks to my incredibly supportive family, friends and those who follow along! 16.01.2022 3 WEEKS AGO v TODAY. It’s crazy how quickly things can change, my Emergency Appendectomy was a hiccup, and yeah I am still recovering from the surgery. Although, I feel like I am almost back to my post surgery norm. As of this week during Osteo and Physio, I managed to roll onto my stomach for the first time since the surgery and receive some much needed work on my back, gluts, hamstrings and calfs. I still have 2 kg that I lost that I need to regain but I’m getting there.... This is purely through consistent and some days, debilitating work. . . Believe it or not but today marks 8 years since SPS decided to crash tackled me! Crazy how quickly time flies aye! Anyone who knows me, knows that I can be a bit stubborn and persistent when I wanna be hahah, but you know what? It’s these traits that keep me getting back up despite the extremely ordinary circumstances that I have had to overcome the last few years. I know that the only person that is going to get me better is MYSELF! It’s hard... But, I am lucky, as I know it could be a hell of a lot worse! The silver lining is it’s the positive results that my team and I are seeing that leaves us feeling hopeful for better and easier times ahead I don’t know what SPS has in store for me but I know one thing, and that is, ain’t nobody got time for that! I got better things to be doing and looking forward to!!! Thank you everyone who has followed my journey, sent messages, offered help, been there regardless of how emotionally draining it has been, gone out of there way time after time, given me and my family a shoulder to lean on. . . I could go on and on, honestly I really could! I am so incredibly humbled to have so much support! If it wasn’t for my crazy family, friends and rehab team, I wouldn’t be here, it’s as simple as that! 14.01.2022 Finally! CDB is going to be available over the counter without a prescription! But, as so often is the case the Government likes to do things the hard way. Cultivators and Suppliers have to meet an overly complicated process to be able to supply the market. We do agree that we need to have safe supplies of medication but let’s look at a few facts. ... There has not been a single recorded death in the world from Cannabis. This cannot be said for most other medications. Cannabis cannot be a One size fits All medication, this is one of the main reasons as to why this has been so difficult for Governments to legislate. We all have an Endocannabinoid System within our bodies. Everyone can have benefits from the use of Cannabis but it will not be the same effect for everyone. CDB is Non-Psychotropic. It is not possible to get ‘Stoned’ on CBD products. It can and does however help to relax muscles, reduce pain, anxiety and inflammation, improve appetite and improve health in many cases. Patients will be able to have a maximum daily dose of 60mg and restricted to a 30 day supply Is this enough? No, as those who live in chronic pain will be required to get a prescription and fork out hundreds of dollars as it is not covered under the PBS. It leaves one wondering if this is a positive step... As it sits, there are currently no CBD products registered, which is a process in itself to get a product approved. As we all know, NSW Health certainly has a track record, especially, with NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard and his beliefs in regards to Medicinal Cannabis, as he stated on the parliamentary floor on the 21st of February 2017 - go down the street, buy, buy some stuff, buy some grass, buy whatever you want This is incredibly disheartening! (We are still waiting on that meeting that we have supposedly had Mr Hazzard the one that we have requested several times and your office claims that it has happened) They are pushing for a particular vaccine and yet when it comes to Cannabis, we need more studies, completely disregarding over 60 years of formal study of the Cannabis plant and it’s medicinal properties. 13.01.2022 A ticking time bomb Lanai Carter Legislation was gradually introduced across Australia to allow the use of medical cannabis from 2015 onwards. At the time this legalisation was hailed as a breakthrough for patients. However, anyone who has been on the wrong side of this legislation knows all too well that it is not On the 11th November 2016, Our Mate, Lindsay Carter was the first patient in Australia to be dispensed schedule 9 botanical Medicinal Cannabis and yet Li...ndsay has now run out of cannabis oil Why? Because finding a cost effective, legal supply of oil which is suitable for his condition is challenging. As a result, Lindsay has taken a turn for the worse, with countless Tonic/Clonic seizures he has ended up in hospital several times in the last few weeks. Lindsay, like many patients in Australia is relying on Cannabis treatments to keep his condition stable. Our Government has said many times that they want Australia to be a Major Medicinal Cannabis supplier for Australia and the World, but they have consistently disregarded the real needs of Australian Patients. We need to prove the Science - Former NSW Premier Mike Baird 2015. Why is it that Medicinal Cannabis patients are having to wait years before Medical establishments are prepared to see the truth that so many already know? Dr Raphael Mechoulam from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Israel has been studying the medical uses of Cannabis for over 50 years and continues to do so today! Federal law changed 4 years ago. and we are only now seeing the first Australian produced Cannabis products starting to hit the market, access to Legal (often cost prohibitive) Cannabis medicine is starting to become more common but is still very hard to get. Why? Doctors are often willing until they see the ridiculous amount of paperwork that is required to get this medication to a patient. Should we disregard normal medical safety for the needs of patients? No. We need safe medication but let me remind you that not one person has died from the use of Cannabis. It is almost impossible to overdose on, it is safe when used responsibly as all medication should be. People who are sick want to be well, not high. This is something that is very often lost on the Government. 08.01.2022 Unbelievable, it’s 5 years since my last full body attack today! And yet the memory of it still haunts me... haunts us So what does a full body spasm feel like? ... Imagine a full dose of lactic acid coursing through your entire body, your vision begins to blur, the sharp pain is that excruciating that your cognitive ability is so affected, it’s like being in an unknown cloud. Your head feels like a weight getting heavier and heavier, your arms flop beside you, the pain becomes that intense that it feels like someone is tasering you, which causes uncontrollable full body spasming. If you’re lucky, the pain causes you to black out, drifting in and out of consciousness, but being conscious for most of it and yet you have no control of your body, you can hear, see and feel EVERYTHING! Now imagine that for a couple of minutes or worse, several hours. My worst was 61 spasm in 9 hours... To think that it’s 5 years since my last full body spasm is crazy! There have been times where Stiff Persons Syndrome has caused me to have several episodes, still scary, painful and life threatening, but thankfully, not a full body spasm. This is predominantly thanks to the introduction of Medicinal Cannabis and my grueling rehab program. I have come sooo far, and yet I still have a long way to go. It’s goals like this that reminds me/us that it’s working, it’s not easy and far from perfect, as I still have days when I can barley move but hey, it’s 100% worth the fight as I’m getting stronger and healthier every single day! 03.01.2022 The Illawarra has lost its rainbow Last night our beautiful friend Saving Chloe Saxby passed away peacefully She was not only surrounded by her family but was in her happy place, the fairy garden, where she has now joined her other fairy’s As many of you know Chloe touched the hearts of so many, her tenacity and will to fight regardless of how hard things were, was and is a true inspiration to so many! That incredible smile of hers melted hearts, including ours. ... Despite being diagnosed with Vanishing White Matters disease, Chloe and her family took a stand and fought so hard to not only help save Chloe but through their efforts, they have made an incredible difference to so many. All we can say is Thank You, it’s people like you that help to change this world for the better. Chloe has spread her wings and is now frolicking with her fellow fairies. Whenever I see a rainbow, I will think of you beautiful, be free and enjoy your freedom Our thoughts are with you Ny, Grant, Mads and the rest of your family.
