23.01.2022 "Rather than seeing farmers and agriculture as something to be controlled with rules and regulations, open collaboration and conversation with industry is key," says AgForce General President, Georgie Somerset. Australian agriculture has: reduced CO2 emissions, down 55% since 2005 increased documented biosecurity plans for cattle properties, from 25% to 90%... 99% compliance for chemical residues decreased water usage improved livestock pain relief. "There’s no doubt the world, and with it the animal welfare and environmental sustainability expectations for agriculture, is changing, and I for one don’t have a problem with that. "It’s important we continue to ensure best practice, that we raise the bar across the industry." "What I do object to are the false claims that agriculture is the problem."

17.01.2022 Congratulations to Kent Saddlery, for their Small Employer of the Year Award win at the Australian Training Awards. A favourite among our members, Kent Saddlery has grown from a one-man show to a large-scale operation employing 14 staff and with the ability to train apprentices after leather production was reinstated as a Queensland apprenticeship last year. This year, the owners Lyle and Helen Kent had to cancel their annual visit to outback stations due to COVID-19 for the ...first time in 30 years, but they adapted, marketing their handcrafted saddles and leather goods to their clients through email and social media. Minister for Training and Skills Development Di Farmer MP congratulated the winners during the virtual event, streamed from Melbourne to the Queensland ceremony at the Hilton Brisbane. It’s definitely a time to celebrate the achievements of all our 12 finalists and the Queenslanders honoured at the awards, Minister Farmer said. We’re investing in Queenslanders to get the skills and training they need for jobs now and into the future." We think this award win is a fantastic achievement. Congratulations, Kent Saddlery! 14.01.2022 Despite the many challenges, our CEO Michael Guerin says there’s no industry he’d rather work in than agriculture. "The positive contribution our industry can play in Queensland’s future environmentally, socially, and economically means we should be and can be a powerfully positive contributor to the Government’s policy development work." "There has never been a better time to mend any ideological divide." ... Read on our website https://okt.to/TfFJX5 Or in QCL https://okt.to/DT128w #standwithregqld

07.01.2022 "As the youngest board director at time, for me coming in was a huge learning curve too, I sort of didn't quite know when I was getting myself into, but it's a fantastic opportunity in my personal development but also professional development. "This board is a group of really passionate, excited like minded people and a really collaborative group and our whole focus really at the end of the day is delivering the best outcomes for the industry." Thank you to Alan Rae, Robyn Bryant and Tracey Finnegan, for all your contributions and hard work over the years.
