19.01.2022 We love our Science team who oversee the running of our biochemistry, andrology (semen) and embryology laboratories. They are a very highly trained and specialised group of scientists with diverse backgrounds who all work together seamlessly as a team and many have done so for several decades. All of our Embryologists have a science degree with many of them having post graduate qualifications such as honours, graduate diplomas, masters and PhD. The science department have a ...combined experience of over 100 years! These are the scientists that run your blood samples, analyse and prepare the semen samples, collect/inseminate your eggs and look after your embryos throughout their journey in the lab. You may not always see them during your appointments or procedures at Concept but rest assured they are all busy working behind the scenes. There are many early starts, late finishes and short breaks but you won’t find a team more passionate about their job than these guys. #embryology #conceptfertilityperth #ivf #scienceteam #biochemistry #perth

18.01.2022 Happy Monday Everyone! Did you know that we offer the opportunity to store sperm for your partner's use at the time she is ovulating. The stored samples can be used in either an Insemination or an IVF Treatment cycle, depending on which is most appropriate for your circumstances. Storing samples is easy and requires only one or two visits to the clinic and you don't need a GP referral!... 11.01.2022 Welcome to another week of Understand The Concept where we provide snippets of information to our followers to help them better understand our practices, procedures, terminology and other fertility factors. Many of you will have heard of surrogacy but not everyone knows that this process is optional to couples in Western Australia and can be done with the aid of Concept Fertility. Surrogacy occurs when the eggs and sperm from the arranged female and male parents are donated.... The surrogate, also called the birth mother, is the woman who will have a fertilised egg put into her uterus with the aim of becoming pregnant and carrying the arranged parent’s baby. For surrogacy to occur the arranged parents must find their own surrogate and all surrogacy arrangements need to be approved by the Reproductive Technology Council. At the optimum time, the eggs are collected in the operating theatre and fertilised with the arranged father’s sperm. The embryos that form after this procedure are usually frozen using cryopreservation and stored in tanks at Concept Fertility Centre. At the appropriate time of the birth mother’s cycle the embryos are thawed and placed into the birth mother’s uterus. If she falls pregnant she will carry the child to term and will then return the baby to the arranged parents. If you would like to learn more or talk to someone about the option of surrogacy then call our Subiaco clinic.

06.01.2022 Sometimes the time isn't quite right. Whether it’s years, months or days, these precious little guys need a safe place to chill out until you're ready. At Concept Fertility, many of our patients that are seeking treatment are from FIFO families and do not necessarily have any fertility issues - it’s just timing. This does not mean that you need to have In Vitro Fertilization if you or your partner works away. Depending on sperm quality, a frozen semen insemination is an easy... alternative to traditional methods of conception if the timing of intercourse is your only issue. Should you need to use other fertility treatments such as IVF or ICSI, this can also be done with frozen semen while your partner is away. Regardless of the reason for freezing, our dedicated scientists ensure that every step of the freezing process is undertaken with meticulous attention to detail in our custom built andrology lab. #understandtheconcept #ivf #fertility #perth #education #health #conceptfertilityperth

04.01.2022 You may of seen in the news recently that an IVF clinic in Australia has ceased using their non-invasive embryo testing method due to concerns about its accuracy. Please be aware that this in no way affects Concept Fertility Centre patients that have opted for PGT-A embryo screening or PGT-M. At Concept we do not use this technique which is to test cells collected from the culture media, rather, we use the globally accepted approach which is to biopsy trophoblast cells directly from the embryo. This way of genetic analysis is highly reliable and is the current gold standard used worldwide for obtaining the embryos DNA for testing. If you would like to discuss this further please call us on 9382 2388.
