25.01.2022 Check out SES Gisborne Unit and their sign language! What a great way to celebrate International Day Of Sign Language!
24.01.2022 Unfortunately another case of covid has been identified from Coles Woodend
24.01.2022 Nurses Firefighters Paramedics Doctors Search & Rescue Personnel... Police Officers ... and many, many more who answer the call when help is most needed. Today is the first ever 'Thank A First Responder Day', and after everything our first responders have tackled already in 2020 - bushfires, storms, floods and now a pandemic - there's perhaps no better year in which to start celebrating this day. So take a moment today to recognise emergency services, health care and other frontline workers, both volunteers and staff. To our volunteers, and those that support them, thankyou for all you do to protect life and property in our local community. Find out more via Fortem Australia here: https://firstresponderday.fortemaustralia.org.au/.
22.01.2022 Burning off grass, stubble, weeds, undergrowth or other vegetation is generally permitted outside the Fire Danger Period. Consider disposal at your local landfill or in your usual green waste, mulching or, if you’re allowed, you may be able to burn off before summer. https://youtu.be/aVIsmmcCIRk
20.01.2022 Unfortunately a staff member at Coles Woodend has returned a positive Covid19 test. The store has undergone a deep clean to be able to return to business. Please ensure you are practicing social distancing, regularly washing your hands, and staying home and isolating if you are unwell. Please also ensure you are checking in on residents who are in a high risk category. A phone call is preferable over a visit, and if you are helping out and delivering groceries etc, leave them at the door and talk from a distance.
16.01.2022 Well done Hesket Kerrie CFA Brigade! But if you’re going camping, make sure you fully extinguish your fire so something worse doesn’t happen!
16.01.2022 Smoke will be visible with this planned burn happening.
16.01.2022 Understanding Warnings and Emergency Information You should never wait to receive an official warning before you leave. Fires can start quickly and threaten homes and lives within minutes. Understand the levels of warnings and don’t expect warnings to be issued in any particular order. The first warning you may get could be an Emergency Warning.
15.01.2022 Do you know Your Total Fire Ban District? Victoria is divided into nine Fire Districts which are based on council boundaries. Make sure you always know what fire district you are in whether at home or travelling.
09.01.2022 Competition Time September was the CFA's property preparation month To enter the competition - ... show us your before and after photos of your property preparation efforts, or send them through to [email protected] Entries close on the 31st October.
09.01.2022 Huge thank you to our members who have been checking to ensure our vehicles and fire station have been kept in working order during Covid-19. We have all been practicing social distancing, and have strict hygiene procedures upon entering the station. As a brigade, we are ready and able to turn out to any incident, should they occur. ... We hope everyone is staying safe and well, and we hope to see you all soon! From all at the Newham CFA
09.01.2022 The planned burn has been postponed
07.01.2022 PREPARING YOUR PROPERTY FOR SUMMER In consultation with Council, we can announce that the burning off restrictions for the month of October 2020 for land less than 4,000 square metres (one acre) have been lifted . When burning off, remember the following:... You must not cause a nuisance to neighbours Register your burn off by calling 1800 668 511 Monitor weather conditions, especially wind Never leave a burn unattended Monitor burn for at least 7 days after extinguished
06.01.2022 Chimney Fire At 10:30pm last night we were paged to a heater fire. Upon arrival, crews could see the chimney was impacted. Along with Hesket Kerrie CFA Brigade, Woodend CFA and Romsey Fire Brigade, the Fire was quickly under control. It’s a timely reminder for those with wood fires to have the flue cleaned. Although we are nearly into summer, the cold snap over the weekend lead many to light their fires.
03.01.2022 Covid-19 and CFA training As a brigade we have begun our mandatory entrapment training whilst also practicing social distancing. Entrapment training is in place in the event of a burn over. We practice this every year before the fire season begins so this becomes second nature to us. ... In line with Covid restrictions, we only allow 4 members and 1 trainer at a time, you can also see our members and trainer standing apart. Even with Covid-19 we still need to train and be prepared for the upcoming fire season. We are slowly getting through training for our members and making sure everyone is up to date on training and ready for the season.
03.01.2022 Such great news!
02.01.2022 Your pets and bushfires! You’ve got your evacuation plan.... but what about your pets? have you got some food for them? ... any medication they need? a water and food bowl for them? a lead if they need it? their bed? There are many things to think about when planning to leave, don’t forget your your beloved pets when you’re making a plan. Possibly have a go box ready for them with what they would need if you suddenly had to evacuate. https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/pets-and-bushfires

01.01.2022 Do you know the difference between a Total Fire Ban and the Fire Danger Period?
