10.01.2022 At 1645 we are always conscious of the environment. Coffee husks which is a byproduct of roasted coffee, is a great add to your home compost bins. Coffee Husks are light and floaty like flakes of bran and have a slight oily feel to them. They absorb water readily but need to be used sparingly. You can apply a thick layer to the garden and can act as a weed blanket which eventually breakdown and dissolve into your garden. We dispose all of our husks with Jeffries Organics which pick up every 2 weeks from our Roastery and they mix it in their organic compost . If youre ever in the area and wish to grab some husks for your garden, you are most welcome and whatever is left our friend Ruben from Jeffries is always happy to take the remainder! #1645coffeeroasters

09.01.2022 LUIS ANIBAL ~ Colombia ~ Luis Anibal is a second-generation coffee grower born in Acevedo, Huila. He started working in the coffee fields at age 12. Luis has now become one of the first producers in Huila to produce high-end microlots as well as mastering alternative processing methods such as extended fermentation, honeys and naturals. 1645 Coffee Roasters travelled to Colombia with @cofi_net to meet with Luis in November 2019. We were very impressed by the exceptional quality of the coffee Luis produces on his farm, and felt very privileged to be able to meet with Luis and his family. With rich notes of dark berries, chocolate and fig, this beautiful single origin is sure to please! 09.01.2022 AHADU WOUBHSET ~ Ethiopia ~ This delicious Espresso single origin has strong notes of chocolate and plum with a delicate and unique bergamot flavour. Definitely one to try! Tega & Tula is a stand alone Specialty Coffee Farm, established in the year 2000 by Ahadu Woubhset. Tega & Tula are actually two adjacent farms, named after the two nearby villages of Tega and Tula, found in the woreda, or district, of Gibo, in Kaffa, Ethiopia. The total farm area is 500 hectares in s...ize, with nearly 400 hectares planted in coffee. The farm is certified organic and produces both Washed and Natural coffees, and it not only has a wonderful flavor profile but also full traceability down to the producer. Ahadu is an entrepreneur who was a founding member of the executive team at the Ethiopian Commodity Exchange, who left the ECX and decided to invest in a farm himself in order to produce entirely specialty coffee. He found the perfect spot in the famous Kaffa Zone, which is considered the absolute birthplace of Arabica coffee.

06.01.2022 Do you know the meaning of specialty coffee? Most just like the sound of the word but there is great importance behind it. Specialty coffee is coffee scoring 80 points or above on the 100- point Coffee Review scale. Certain standards need to be met for every stage of coffee production, including allowable defects in green beans, water standards, soil type, humidity level, plant health and brew lengths. 1645 Coffee Roasters take pride in roasting beans with these high standar...ds. We pride ourselves in supporting farmers and plantations from around the world that produce beautiful beans with these standards in place. There is so much that goes into that cup of coffee you drink. Buying specialty coffee means you are supporting coffee roasters, coffee merchants and coffee growers that follow these high quality standards to produce you a beautiful cup of coffee each day! #1645coffeeroasters #specialtycoffee #supportlocal See more

06.01.2022 ANTONIO RIGNO ~ Brazil ~ This unique Espresso single origin is bursting with zing of yellow plum and green grape but with a rich and creamy consistency in every sip! This coffee has been processed using the pulped natural process. After pulping the beans are then sun-dried on patios with their mucilage still attachedspread in layers of about four centimeters and raked several times a day. Finally, the beans are separated into numbered lots which are stored and rested in parchment in a purpose-built warehouse and then cupped for quality control prior to export. Antonio ensures that his processes are reviewed and guided annually by technicians from AGRIPEC, an agricultural support community, and is highly attentive to new technologies or methods that will improve quality. Available in 250g and 1kg #1645coffeeroasters #specialtycoffee

04.01.2022 Papua New Guinea brings us this unique single origin coffee with strong notes of mango, stone fruit and milk chocolate. Available now in 250g and 1kg. The name ‘Baroida’ comes from the Baroida spirit, believed by locals to reside in a large river rock sitting in one of the main rivers flowing through the estate. This particular rock, has stubbornly remained in the middle of the river for as long as anybody can remember, refusing to budge through the most severe floods, ev...en when other rocks have been washed away. The Baroida plantation sits at the apex of the Lamari river valley and Mount Jabarra range. The plantation itself sits at about 1,691 meters above sea level amongst thousands of hectares of cleared land with former colonial coffee estates surrounding them (now run by native landowners) and flanked by mountains filled with small holder coffee producers who cultivate close to a million trees. Meticulous separation for quality control helps maintain the high quality of the estate’s coffee. After careful sorting, cherry is laid on raised beds to sundry.

02.01.2022 JUANA MAMANI ~ Bolivia ~ This lot was selected from the very highest parts of Juana and Juan Carlos farm, where the altitude helps ensure a slow maturation of the coffee cherry. This allows the concentrated sugars to develop more evenly, giving the cup more structure and complex flavours. The coffee is carefully handpicked and pulped at the familys wet mill. It is then fermented for 1216 hours before being washed and carefully dried on raised African beds. #1645coffeeroasters #specialtycoffee
