25.01.2022 A great evening was enjoyed by all last Monday night as Kurrajong North Richmond Rotary Club members attended the annual Melbourne Cup Eve Sweepstakes Dinner hosted by Richmond Rotary Club. Besides Steve Hile’s fantastic phantom race call, the highlight of the night was the Ladies and Men’s Fashions of the Field parade. Here we see the finalists awaiting the judges decision after strutting their stuff. Congratulations to the winners, Valerie Percival and Jim Fenech. 21.01.2022 A busy morning for some of our Rotarians at The Poor Clare Monastery at North Richmond this morning. 2 courtyards were levelled & prepared, then turf laid. The Poor Clare Nuns were very happy with their newly turfed courtyards. We were also spoilt with some homemade treats for morning tea. 12.01.2022 TODAY’S THE DAY THE TEDDY BEARS HAD THEIR PICNIC AND WHAT A DAY IT WAS with the Kurrajong North Richmond Rotary Club hosting their own Teddy Bears Picnic...complete with games and a good old Rotary Sausage Sizzle or yummy food hampers. The highlight of the day was presenting ‘Interplast’ with a labour of love ....local hand knitted teddy bears for young children undertaking life changing surgery around the Asia - Pacific Region, and a donation to go towards this amazing pro...gram. Interplast (https://interplast.org.au) sends teams of volunteer plastic and reconstructive surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and allied health professionals to provide life-changing surgery and medical training in 17 countries across the Asia Pacific region. A huge thank you to Rotarian Robyn Bible and the ‘Friends of Rotary’ supporting this great initiative; and an even bigger THANK YOU to our local knitters creating the ‘picnic’ of bears. 09.01.2022 End Polio Now Train (bus) ride A great reason for being at Richmond station for the 10.11am End Polio Now train this morning. Rotary members & Friends of Rotary were keen to join the End Polio Now Train going to every station on the Sydney City Rail network (170 stations- 813 kms).... Past President Paul Rogers and his wife Anne together with Rtn Terry Kennedy were ready to board the train..... except track work from Riverstone to Richmond had cancelled all trains and buses were operating. That’s life ... but the humanitarian work of Rotary continues to make a difference. Polio Plus the Rotary campaign to end Polio has nearly eradicated Polio worldwide, with only a few cases remaining in Pakistan an Afghanistan.
