25.01.2022 Tommy Tom is very agitated this morning! Notice I am filming this keeping safe behind the fenced enclosure. Do no trust these big boys!
24.01.2022 Yes I bought the T shirt as well . I get told all the time "I can relate"
24.01.2022 This is Suzi's baby (Suzi's mum was Sami who I raised). Found her a couple days ago with a very swollen face. The swelling has gone down heaps now. She is eating, putting head in mums pouch for a drink. Wonder has she hit her head? Bee sting? Keeping an eye on her, this picture taken with big zoom cause can't get very close. Isn't she a chunky monkey???.
24.01.2022 Just hanging out with mum . Abby (Abby Dabby Doo) with her first baby . Abby was found lying in a dried up muddy puddle and brought to me by a kind man who s...aw her. She was in a really bad way, very dehydrated, almost lifeless, her eyes & ears were full of dried mud (she couldn't open her eyes they were gunked shut). After lots of subcut fluids, gentle washes to get rid of the mud and lots of tlc, Abby is just the sweetest roo & is showing signs of being a very devoted mum. See more
23.01.2022 Is that tasty Penny?
20.01.2022 The perils of the morning poo clean up. Archi is such a special gentle boy. JUST A NOTE OF CAUTION: I do not recommend this behaviour nor encourage it. You need... to remember we raised Archi (& hundreds more). You need to be able to read their demeanour. You need to know when play isn't play anymore. You need to know you have a quick exit strategy. Don't try this at home. See more
19.01.2022 Just chilling out with mum
19.01.2022 Happy days!!! Big feed of green grass!!! Garry found a big patch this morning when we went to our local market gardener for our weekly supply of fresh veg!!! Your welcome guys, enjoy.
18.01.2022 Bandicoot just came in. 800 grams. Found sitting in middle of road last night.
18.01.2022 It's a hard life at Horizons!
18.01.2022 Couple of locals
17.01.2022 Pleased to say Beavis is feeling happier this morning. Let him outside around 4am as some of the others were coming home. He had a little spar with JD! While I was busy doing the morning poo pick up, Beavis came tearing past me at 100 miles per hour, down into the bush and back again. He continued blatting around like a maniac for a while and has spent the rest of the morning laying around with some of the others. I am so happy that his depression has lifted. He has been such a sad little man since he lost his mate Dino 8 days ago. You will be ok my little man, I know you are now going to make some new friends.
16.01.2022 I love you mummy . Holly & her daughter Hailey.
16.01.2022 Remember Beavis, my handsome young man? Big milestone in his life last night. First time he has spent all night in the big paddock being a big boy. Go Beavis!! Stay safe cause it's a big scary hard world out there.
13.01.2022 This is Chloe's baby. Obviously he is scared & looking for his mum. He is off today to another carer who has a few other joeys around the same size. He will do much better having buddies to hang out with & learn with. Hang in there sweetness, it will all work out for you
13.01.2022 What a handsome big boy. This is Ricky Dick
13.01.2022 Ricky Dick flexing his muscles. Big handsome man
12.01.2022 Little man had a hard start but he is starting to trust me. Amazing what some quiet time & lots of tlc can achieve. Cody you are melting my heart
12.01.2022 Curlews - crazy birds!!!!! Had to put some witches hats around egg as it has been laid on the access road to our garage. Need sound on to hear the stern warning to keep away.
12.01.2022 Ooooops...........got a bit too close to mummy sitting on the eggs. Daddy on protection patrol!!!! Need sound on, excuse my commentary
11.01.2022 The start to our day was terrible. My sweet sweet Chloe. Beautiful, gentle, naughty Chloe. You did not deserve this, you were just in your prime. You joined our family in November 2014 after the people who had you didn't want you any more. From day one you were just the most laid back sweetest joey who grew into a beautiful strong adult having your own beautiful babies. This morning I found Chloe lying in the yard near the house stiff as a board. We carried her onto the verandah where I tried to make her comfortable. I held Chloe, I talked to her, I cried for her pain & suffering. She took her last breath while I was holding her. Rest in peace my beautiful girl. Your precious baby is safe with me, he has had a bottle but is missing you like I am.
11.01.2022 This little joey has been around for 3 days now with no mum in sight. Sprayed her with some pink so I could identify her & keep an eye out. I just found this lovely sight when I went for a walk to find her. BUT this is NOT her mum, this is Peaches who has only just recently had her first joey. I am so happy (& somewhat surprised) that beautiful gentle Peaches is giving this little girl some comfort. It was so sad seeing Pink (called her Pink cause of the pink spray) all alone down the paddock eating grass or lying resting all by herself. Good on you Peaches
10.01.2022 Just because........
10.01.2022 How precious. Mum has only just started letting this little one out of the pouch.
08.01.2022 Joeys have a lot of learning to do like how do I scratch that itch without falling over?
07.01.2022 First time since covid - carers morning tea. One of the carers brought this little sweetie with her. Awwwwwww
07.01.2022 This 2.7kg boy came hopping from the bush with 2 juveniles, the female juvenile was jumping on him . Grabbed him, went down bush looking for mum, gave up after 40 mins - no luck. In bedroom snug in a pouch. Will keep him for couple days & hopefully we will find mum & reunite them. Sadly this is why 80% of all joeys born in the wild will perish before they reach 1 year of age .
06.01.2022 Am I being biased or is Kacey a very cute, very pretty joey?
03.01.2022 Never a dull moment at Horizons. Yesterday was pretty crazy with things happening I have never seen before!!!! Peaches had her joey out for a hoppy & another fe...male tried to kidnap Peaches joey! This female kept growling & chasing Peaches away from her baby, then would go up to the joey & start nuzzling & licking it. Of course Peaches tried to get back to her baby but this female would not let her near her baby, continuing to growl at & chase Peaches away. Eventually intervention was required so Garry grabbed the baby, I distracted the other female & Garry put joey down in front of Peaches who jumped straight into mums pouch, all safe now. So later that afternoon, lots of mums give their bigger joeys out of pouch time. We noticed however that Holly had a baby in her pouch but a young joey kept following her, calling out to her. We then noticed Peta did not have her joey in her pouch but did not want to know this other joey. Will they sort this out? Anyway, I got the centrigen spray & sprayed a pink stripe on the joeys back that was chasing Holly around (so we could identify it). This morning, Holly had a baby in her pouch, Peta had a joey in her pouch so all seemed good. Holly let her baby out & guess what? It had a pink stripe on its back. Sometime during the night they must have sorted the baby situation out!!!! See more
03.01.2022 Mums & bubs enjoying the early morning sun
03.01.2022 I filmed Peaches giving birth to this baby on 23rd December 2019. Her little man is exactly 8 months old today!! This is her first baby & you can see Peaches is a really good mum.
03.01.2022 Love watching the young boys learning how to spar, they look like they are having heaps of fun. The one with the black spot is JD, then Beavis & dont know who the smallest one is trying to get in on the action from behind.
02.01.2022 Came across this old photo. How cute!!
02.01.2022 Tommy Tom having some fun, feeling frisky on this cool morning. Roos are enjoying the cool change (& so am I).
01.01.2022 Busy morning. First rescue - mum & tiny joey both dead. Second rescue - mum dead but brought home this precious 1.6kg female grey.
