15.01.2022 Most of us eat the apple to the core, then chuck the core in the compost right? Well the clever Folks at Organic Empire have a better use for them! A super simple beneficial bacteria laden vinegar... You may have heard of it, that rights it’s made easy ... What you will need: 1 kg apple scraps, skins and cores just remove the stem 4 tsp raw organic sugar filtered water to cover around 1 lt Wide mouth large jar Cheesecloth Instructions; Wash and chop your apples into medium sized pieces, including the core. Make sure your jar is sterilized and place them in. In a seperate bowl combine the warm water and still till sugar is dissolved, wait till water is cooled then tip it onto the apples. Main thing is to make sure the apples are completely covered with water, if not add more Cover with cheesecloth or a cotton material, secure with an elastic band. Then leave it in the pantry for 2-3 weeks- Depending of temperature in your kitchen. It will form a foamy layer on the top, when it stops bubbling and apples sink it’s time to strain out the liquid and take out the apple pieces. Cover again and place it back in a dark place for 4-6 weeks. Its also good to stir it occasionally. After 4 weeks taste it, if its to your liking bottle and enjoy. Viola...organic apple cider vinegar Need apples? Find these beauties and others at our Farmers Market this Sunday. Direct from the tree, just the way we like them

07.01.2022 Dear RFM Community, We are extremely concerned about reducing the spread of COVID-19 and are taking this very seriously. This is obviously a highly uncertain and stressful time for everyone - especially as information and advice is evolving very quickly.... At this moment, ALL Markets run by Regional Farmers Markets will proceed as usual The current advice is that it is the collective responsibility of everyone to ensure we are acting with a sense of urgency and responsibility to both ourselves and those around us in an effort to minimise the transmission and impact of the virus. The current recommendation (although we appreciate this advice can change) is that only people who had ‘direct contact’ with an infected person (within 1.5 meters of the person for longer than 15 minutes or in the same room for two hours) need to self-isolate and contact their GP, while everyone else is advised to just continue regular (if not enhanced) hygiene precautions. Obviously, If you are unwell (and especially if you are showing any symptoms associated with COVID-19) please seek medical attention and otherwise stay home to look after yourself and DO NOT ATTEND THE MARKET! We will be spreading out the layout of stalls at our Markets as much as we can within each site to help create more space for people to move around. So you may notice some layout changes! Please try not to pack in too tightly when buying and to form a queue with space wherever possible. We will offer some tables and chairs for patrons to use for seating, but these will be disinfected frequently by our management staff and will also be spaced out more than usual. We will continue to post any key updates here as they are considered necessary. Thank you for reading this, and please feel welcome to message us if you have any concerns or questions RFM Management See more

07.01.2022 Dear Heathmont FM Community It is with a heavy heart that we advise that, effective immediately, Regional Farmers Markets will not run any further Markets until the worst of the threat posed by COVID-19 to our community has passed. This decision applies to all of our Markets - so it covers all of our Markets in Victoria as well as our weekly Market in Helensvale on the Gold Coast.... We know many stall holders rely on our Markets for their businesses - and this is why this decision has been so difficult to make. We have fought very hard to keep our Markets open for as long as we can - including finding new sites in Victoria when the usual sites were closed down - as we knew many of our stall holders needed the time before this decision was made. It has been an incredibly stressful and difficult period for everyone including our stall holder community. Officially, ‘food markets’ remain permissible so long as specific ratios for social distancing measures are in place. These measures were all very much in place at our Markets yesterday - as well as many additional measures to create as much safety as we could. The key has been to continually balance the need to create ways for people to access fresh produce and other food, and the risk to the community from COVID-19. Our priority must however always be safety - for our Market Managers who interact with many people, for each of our stall holders and for you the patrons of our Markets - and so after completing yesterday’s Markets the decision was made to close all Markets until the worst of this crisis has passed. So what next? We do not know how long this period of ‘hibernation' (to quote our Prime Minister) will be, as we do not know the path the virus will take. We are exploring various online options at the moment, including home delivery via our related business, Paddlewheel which is a ‘farmers market store’. We have invited all stall holders in Victoria who need help during this time to contact Paddlewheel. Paddlewheel is already doing extensive home delivery throughout Melbourne and parts of South Gippsland and we are seeking to expand its service area as quickly as we can. For more details please message us and we can connect you to Paddlewheel, or you can call them direct on (03) 9827 6769 or 0428 114 648. We will also continue to post regular updates here - so please look out for these. It is a very difficult and stressful time for everyone. We hope you and your loved ones are safe and well Take care! Claire, Melissa and and the whole team at RFM
