20.01.2022 Members of Wyong IW Club were delighted when Australian Seniors invited their club to participate in their 'Supporting Seniors' community program. Members, frie...nds and relatives were encouraged to vote for Wyong Club in the Australian Seniors store at the local shopping centre, which generated wonderful publicity for Inner Wheel. Thanks to the community's support, Wyong Club won the competition and the $1000 first prize certainly boosted the club’s charity account! Pictured are members Olive in front, Pauline, Lorraine, Margaret and President Sue being presented with a cheque on 26 November by Julie Sammons from Australian Seniors.

08.01.2022 *Membership Tip: Have you welcomed new members to your club recently? Lots of new members have been coming to meetings and it may be a great opportunity to take... time to share what Inner Wheel does - locally, Nationally, and globally with these new ladies. Sharing this information over coffee or wine at another member's home is a good way to make them feel welcome and build friendships amongst the club. Ask them to ask questions about things they don't understand - explain some of the terminology and abbreviations we use - look at the National and International website and social media pages to show them what IW members do. Maybe even invite them to bring a friend with them to hear about Inner Wheel. #MembershipTip #IWFriendship #IWNZ

05.01.2022 Tolerance and humanity in society/ 1st Munic Inner Wheel Prize 2020 Look at it - act wisely 1st Munich Inner Wheel Prize 2020 Bavarian teachers are honoured by... Inner Wheel By awarding a prize for moral courage, six Munich Inner Wheel Clubs are setting an example for more tolerance and humanity in society. The award ceremony was attended by the public with great interest. The prize was awarded to Bavarian teachers who have shown particular commitment to the teaching of moral courage in their schools. The award ceremony took place at the end of October 2020 in Munic. Due to the limited space available at the event as a result of corona measures, the event was broadcast live in the online stream on the homepage. " Moral courage concerns us all", said the Bavarian Minister of Culture, Prof. Dr. Michael Piazolo in his video message. He thanked the teachers for their commitment and the Inner Wheelers for their great dedication to this topic. The National Representative of Inner Wheel Germany, Beatrix von Fassong, stressed in her personal greeting: "Where war, politics and environmental disasters threaten to unhinge the world; where values threaten to lose their value; where courage is needed to defend these values with civil courage. All this must be underlined today with this prize. Congratulations to the organisers of this prize! Four schools were nominated, the prize money was 5000 Euros and another 500 Euros were awarded for a special prize. The winner was the girl school St. Josef in Schwandorf, Bavaria, "We are very happy", said project manager Daniela Amrein. "This award means a lot to all of us. I like to invest my heart and soul every day and get involved in teaching. The students give it back in a great way!" The next award ceremony will take place in 2022

03.01.2022 ‘COVID CHANGEOVER’ Victoria, Australia has been in lockdown since July 2020. It is only now, November 2020 that some restrictions have eased. It has had a maj...or effect on our ability to hold IW meetings and other activities within our Club. However, looking on the bright side we have 59 members and we held an extremely successful Opera night with over 120 guests a the home of one of our members in February, fortunately just before Covid 19. All proceeds went to our ‘Bwindi’ Uganda project. Bwindi Ride for a Woman project is the brainchild of two of our Club members, Jill Billston and Trish Salau. They have spearheaded this project for the past seven years and it was adopted by our District A61 as the International Project for two years. Bwindi is a UNESCO world heritage site that is home to almost half the world’s mountain gorillas. Bwindi is a community project empowering the women of Bwindi socially and economically by teaching income generating skills. A Tourist shop is being established through funds from IW and will be opened for business to enable the locals at this once poverty stricken hub to become independent. The pandemic has had a devastating effect on the whole of Uganda, which has been in lockdown for the past 8 months. Without tourists to Uganda their income has been reduced to practically zero. Due to Covid restrictions, our Changeover was conducted in our PP’s home where PP Brenda passed over the chain of office to our new President, Valmai. We are planning to hold a Christmas Meeting/Party in December which will be the first event for our Club since March 2020 We have recently purchased 50 cookery books from another Victoria IW Club to raise funds for Cord Blood. Baby hats have been knitted and small aprons sewn for a regional hospital’s need. So although we have been in isolation, our Club has continued its commitment in helping others

02.01.2022 Congratulations Billie Jo for earning the Spirit Award from IWUSA president Gil Broadaway presented by club president Cyndy Stanley
