24.01.2022 The garden around 19 Blue has never looked lovelier! Book a few nights in our cosy, homely space and see for yourselves.
24.01.2022 As winter draws to a close, so does our special $99 per night "Winter Warmer". It has been so successful with many bookings throughout the colder months and, with the new heat pump, guests have kept warm and snug. Prices move to our shoulder "Spring Sizzler" rates from the September 1st - still a bargain at $135 per night. Considering all that 19 Blue supplies including delicious breakfast supplies for your first morning and a loaf of Judith's home made bread is there any need to say more?
23.01.2022 It's not officially winter for another two days but anyone living in Tasmania would know that the winter weather has arrived! kunanyi (Mount Wellington) was covered in snow when we drove in to perform our play Her Story today. Never mind - new arrivals at 19 Blue today were greeted with a warm, home-baked loaf of bread and the heat pump on ready for their arrival. The electric blanket and extra quilt have gone back on the bed and double glazing at the cottage keeps guests snug and warm. Why not book 19 Blue if you're heading over for Dark Mofo or the Festival of Voices? It's only fifteen minutes from Hobart..... The photo shows a lovely sunset from 19 Blue.
21.01.2022 Our lovely and very creative grand daughters Sophi & Lulu Smee came to dinner last night. Apart from enjoying a delicious pork roast cooked by Chris they spent the evening decorating the newly painted mail box. What will the postie say?
21.01.2022 19 Blue comes into its own in Spring. The Queens sized bed has its lovely patchwork quilt on it and the abundant flowers in the garden provide fresh blooms for the cottage. If you are looking for really special, lovingly furnished and equipped accommodation in the Blackmans Bay/ Kingston Beach area you will love 19 Blue.
19.01.2022 Recent Guests. Nearly all the guests who stay at 19 Blue love the experience. But,those who left this morning wrote such a lovely note I wanted to share it with you: Judith & Chris, Many thanks for making this great little cottage available to us. It was like staying in my best friend's holiday cottage!... Warm Bread, homemade jam, eggs from your own chooks. Fabulous! I hope we can come back again we were so comfortable. The bonus - the Southern Cross & Centurion in the dark of the night. Deane & Rod. You can CERTAINLY come again we love it when guests appreciate the love & effort we put into The 19 Blue experience!
18.01.2022 Look at the beautiful Autumn colours over the deck and fence at 19 Blue! We have plenty of availability over the next few months and we are now offering our lovely cottage for the special price of $120 per night. If you are looking for affordable self-contained accommodation in Blackmans Bay you've found it!!!
17.01.2022 19 Blue is enjoying a wonderful summer season. We have some vacancy at the moment so why not book your stay at lovely 19 Blue? We have some new things to show off: a quirky mirror collection in the bedroom and Holiday Gifts to buy to take home . Also we have splashed out on some lovely French linen sheets from Bedloves - apparently beautiful to sleep in - come and try!! Oh, and did I mention we have new chooks? The Alices Two can now provide guests with lovely fresh eggs. We have 6 Hylines - they are so friendly and lay us 5 or 6 eggs every day - plenty to share with you!!!
09.01.2022 Guests love staying at 19 Blue for many reasons: it's very homely and full of heartfelt touches. Guests can save up their food scraps and come down and feed The Alices, our four Barnevelder chooks and they do! The Alices have some lovely fresh straw to scratch around in courtesy of Gumtree and delivered by Sophie of the Richmond Strawberry Farm - they love it!
09.01.2022 Winter is Coming! We put the electric blanket back on the bed at 19 Blue Holiday Cottage this week. Not that it's getting cold but we have to be prepared and keep our guests warm The heat pump, we installed last winter, is wonderful and makes it toasty warm within minutes. The double glazing and excellent insulation also helps! We have a few free days from Easter Saturday to Tuesday if anyone is looking for lovely accommodation over the Easter break? The garden is looking lovely too.......
07.01.2022 My neighbour says that if people knew about the lovely Sweet Peas all around the garden at 19 Blue Self Contained Holiday Cottage only 15 minutes from Hobart, they would be flocking here. Well they do flock anyway . What do you think?
07.01.2022 There are many lovely things to attract visitors to our self-contained holiday cottage 19 Blue in lovely Blackmans Bay. One of the major draw cards is the lovely garden which surrounds it. In season, guests are invited to pick vegetables form the vegie garden and with the new raised beds built by Daniel and Anna Smee (Judith's son and daughter-in-law) this is a very easy task. Spring blossoms and bulbs are beginning to show their promise as winter draws to a close.
05.01.2022 I found a lovely winter coverlet for 19 Blue at the South Hobart Op Shop this week. I had an hour to kill so (surprise surprise) headed to Vinnies whilst Chris was performing Her Story with Rosie Cann our wonderful actor who gives me a break once a week. I had just done 2 school shows back to back! Chris is so tough he didn't need a break........... Bonanza! This lovely coverlet was just what I had been looking for to cosy up 19 Blue's bedroom for winter. I got the pictured summer one there too! Thanks once again Vinnies!
04.01.2022 We heard it first - the arrival of a V8 Ford Fairlane Special Interest car at 19 Blue Holiday Cottage today. But wait - there's more! The car was bedecked with white ribbon and inside were the newly married Tony and Kristy Mitchell! Congratulations you two welcome to 19 Blue and wishing you a long and happy married life!!!
03.01.2022 Blackbirds - Blessing or Curse? They have nested in the, still bare grapevine next to 19 Blue but the mess they make on the path - we have to sweep before every guest's arrival.
03.01.2022 We love our guests at 19 Blue and they seem to love 19 Blue! We have a Welcome Board where we write a welcome message to our guests. We loved the message that recent guest Yolanda Lui left for us yesterday. Thanks Yolanda please come again!! P.S The Alices are our 4 chooks - guests save food scraps for them and are welcome to come down and visit.
03.01.2022 Summer is Here!!! I guess Summer is heralded by all sorts of signs for different people? For me one of these signs is putting 19 Blue's lovely patchwork quilt back on the bed! Due to a cancellation, we have vacancy right up to Boxing Day at our beautiful cottage. Looking for somewhere to stay over Christmas?
03.01.2022 19 Blue in the Pink! The sunset tonight at Blackmans Bay was a wondrous sight - everything was PINK!! Newly arrived guests, snug inside our lovely holiday cottage 19 Blue, looked so cosy with their lights on surrounded by the rosy light and a sickle moon. Why not book 19 Blue for one of Tassie's wonderful winter festivals? Dark Mofo has just started and Festival of Voices in July....
01.01.2022 19 Blue is looking lovely just now with the Hardenbergia archway in full bloom. Our special offer @$99 per night is popular! For caring,self-contained accommodation in Blackmans Bay look no further. ....
01.01.2022 The eucalyptus tree grew too tall and was blocking the sun from the solar panels at 19 Blue! To the rescue came Judith's eldest son, Daniel Smee who is not just an elite distance runner but, apparently, an arborist too! He had it down in minutes using a SHARP hand saw. But what to do with the stumps? The Ravens have found a new perch!!!
