18.01.2022 I bought three plants of Hot pink Pig Face (Lampranthus glaucus), also known as Ice Plant two years ago. I didn't even know what colour it was! It turned out to be is a beautiful low-growing spreading groundcover which became smothered with vibrant pink daisy-like flowers that open in the sunlight a few days before The Chronicle Garden Competition was judged. It prefers full sun and requires little water once established. Very hardy and easy to grow so suitable for rock...eries and low maintenance gardens. It sets off my Cactus community garden perfectly and I've doubled the length of the sweep of the plant for this years visitors!

10.01.2022 Windy day today!!!

10.01.2022 This is what caught Jenny Rhind's eye in my garden at 1a Mabel St last year! Come see what has changed! Garden open 9-5pm, September 20th and 29th 2019! #TheChronicleGardenCompetition #CarnivalofFlowers

09.01.2022 As part of the Carnival of Flowers, the local newspaper, The Toowoomba Chronicle, runs a garden competition. Have a good look at the face of David Stanfield and... you will understand why this fun/funny/eccentric/ imaginative guy won the Best Family Garden award. Other than the quirky aspects of his delightful garden, I was most impressed with the Spanish Moss hanging everywhere. See more

04.01.2022 This is a shallow birdbath so bees can access the water too. I had been mystified about where all the water was going. Dozens of "Silver Eyes" are drinking their fill every day! happy to be keeping them alive in the drought! #1aMabelSt #thechroniclegardencompetition

01.01.2022 The red bromeliads hold water - or did - there are hundreds of different types of birds coming to the ponds, birdbaths and ponds for water in this droughted, sun scorched land!
