25.01.2022 Great news! Thanks to our resolute stand against Facebook’s bullying and the Government’s commitment to its reforms, Facebook have come back to the table and ag...reed to restore Australian news to their platform. A huge thank you to everyone who took part in my Say No to Facebook this Saturday campaign. This is a big win for Australian democracy. #saynotofacebook #news See more

22.01.2022 Laughter is the best medicine, and you’ll get plenty of it at Seasons

21.01.2022 IT'S COLD, SO IS IT OKAY TO WEAR YOUR SLIPPERS TO WORK?? With Sunshine Coast temperatures plummeting to five degrees last night, getting up and getting dre...ssed for work is a bit of a challenge. And one of our ABC Sunshine Coast staff has arrived to work with new foot gear on - her smart-looking slippers. She has brought a spare pair of "work shoes" in case needed, but really, is there anything wrong with wearing slippers to work and in public?

20.01.2022 Our Seasons Caloundra residents have a new favourite activity this week - completing jigsaw puzzles on the iPads Gwen, Dot, Olive and Rita have been hard at work doing all different kinds of puzzles.

20.01.2022 Today I opened the latest section of the Federal Govt's $812m Bruce Highway upgrades at the Caloundra Road interchange to help get our local economy going again... and get you home sooner and safer. From today you can drive the new southbound Exit 188 to Landsborough to get access to our stunning Hinterland. In the coming weeks we will be adding more lanes on and off the innovative diverging diamond interchange and improving the traffic light timings to get everyone through this interchange smoother and faster. This project continues to support an average of 680 jobs directly, while the Government's investment in our region will help draw more private investment here too. Not only that, but when tourists return to the Coast, this interchange will leave them with a better experience and all the more reason to come back. I joined @Stuart Coward - LNP candidate for Caloundra to announce this opening this morning, where Stuart highlighted again how we need the State Govt to get shovels in the ground on more of these Federally supported infrastructure projects.

18.01.2022 Usually my office in Canberra is buzzing with meetings and a very busy staff member who helps make sure everything runs smoothly and I can stay up to date with what I need here and back home during a frantic Canberra day. But in a COVID19 Parliamentary staff office there is only silence.

18.01.2022 If you ever visit Seasons Caloundra, you'll be likely to see Yvonne's cat Sealy walking around the community on her harness or giving out high fives. She's one talented cat!

18.01.2022 On International Nurses Day, here's to all the nurses who have saved our lives, comforted and literally carried us through tough times. My beautiful 91 year ol...d mum, Norma, was a registered nurse who can tell a few stories, including nursing through a polio outbreak. My two grandmothers also had nursing roles, in the case of my paternal grandmother, Barbara, who was a registered nurse, and my maternal grandmother, Bernice, who was a volunteer aid in nursing during the Spanish Flu. Barbara’s three sons would all marry registered nurses. My mother’s only sister also was a registered nurse and her daughter has followed in her footsteps. A special day to celebrate. See more

18.01.2022 We’ve got great news our display apartments are still open and able to be viewed! 17.01.2022 The vital construction industry on the Sunshine Coast needed a lifeline, and today the Morrison Government delivered it. Construction employs 20,000 people and ...supports many thousands more on the Sunshine Coast. But due to COVID a great many projects are being cancelled. Construction businesses on the Coast faced losing half or even more of their work for the rest of the year. The job losses and damage to our local economy would be disastrous. I have worked closely with the Treasurer Josh Frydenberg and the Assistant Treasurer Michael Sukkar to develop a stimulus package that will help prevent that disaster and today we launched that package - HomeBuilder. From today, eligible owner occupiers will be able to get a $25,000 payment from the Morrison Govt to help build a new home or undertake substantial renovations on their existing home. This will help thousands to take the plunge across the country and make sure that there is work for local builders in the months to come. You can find full eligibility requirements and details at www.treasury.gov.au/coronavirus/HomeBuilder

17.01.2022 An ADF Veteran can add fantastic value to any business, but it is often difficult for them to find work after transitioning. Today I announced a grant of $103,0...00 from the Federal Government for STEPS Charity to run a Sunshine Coast pilot for a new approach to supporting young veterans into sustainable employment. This comprehensive program will be delivered by a veteran, for local veterans and I know it will make a life changing difference for many in our community. A hard working employee who values team work, integrity, and loyalty? What more could you want in any business?

16.01.2022 Sunshine Coast Council Libraries preparing to re-open Sunshine Coast Council Media Release 18 May 2020... Sunshine Coast Council Libraries preparing to re-open Sunshine Coast Council Libraries will re-open doors to a limited number of customers at any one time from Monday May 25, 2020 following the further easing of COVID-19 restrictions. Sunshine Coast Council Mayor and Local Disaster Management Group Chair Mark Jamieson said the safety of our community and staff continued to be at the forefront of decisions made by council. Libraries are a valuable and much-loved community service and council has been working through the implications of re-opening them to the public as soon as practical, in line with the national public health directions and the progressive easing of restrictions, Mayor Jamieson said. When our libraries re-open on May 25, a total of 10 customers will be permitted inside our library branches at any one time. They’ll be able to pick up reservations, choose and borrow library items. Visitor numbers in the library will be monitored and customers will be required to comply with social distancing requirements and other measures. The library Click & Collect service remains available for Sunshine Coast library card holders, and the community is reminded to make use of the library’s extensive online programs and eLibrary service. One exception to the re-opening on May 25 will be the Maleny Library, which is currently undergoing refurbishment and will not re-open until next month (June, 2020). A limited Click and Collect service will be available at that location. We look forward to welcoming customers back to our libraries, but remind everyone to please be vigilant as we keep moving towards a COVID-safe society. This includes adhering to social distancing requirements, good hygiene and not attending if you are feeling unwell. Returns chutes are available at all libraries and Wi-Fi remains available. Follow Sunshine Coast Libraries on social media for updates and exciting content you can enjoy from home. For the latest information about council facilities and services and business assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic, visit www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au/coronavirus. ENDS

12.01.2022 At the beginning of each year, I choose a word that I want to concentrate my energies on for the year ahead. In 2020, my word was Gratitude. I have so much t...o be grateful for. An amazing wife, 4 terrific daughters, the best job in the world with incredibly hard-working staff and to be able to call the Sunshine Coast home in a world that is racked by conflict, famine, drought, fire, flood and now pandemic. Sometimes we just have to stop, smell the roses, be still and be grateful for the simple things in life. Thank you. See more

11.01.2022 Today I announced the opening of a Federally funded respiratory clinic at Sippy Downs' Ochre Health Medical Centre. If you have flu like symptoms, book an appoi...ntment by calling 07 5480 6010, to get an assessment and if necessary a test for COVID-19 right away. By separating respiratory patients from others who need a GP this Federally funded clinic will help save lives, protect health workers, make testing easier and help us get more restrictions lifted sooner on the Sunshine Coast. #wallace4fisher #sippydowns #sunshinecoast See more

08.01.2022 Happy Birthday Scott Morrison (ScoMo)! You have been a beacon of strength and hope for so many Australians. Thank you for your steadfast support of the community of #Longman and for being the true and strong leader that Australia needs.

08.01.2022 I AM ANGRY. Every Australian who has lost their job, had their business closed down or impacted upon is ANGRY. Every Australian who has had to cancel a weddin...g, bury a loved one without a proper send off should be ANGRY. Every Australian who will have to pay off the additional debt that we have had to borrow to support Australians during the pandemic should be ANGRY. Tens of thousands of Australians hit the streets over the weekend to support the Black Lives Matter Movement. What happened to George Floyd was wrong and criminal. It should not have happened. EVER. Hopefully justice will be done to his perpetrators. One death in custody of an indigenous Australian is one too many. I don’t begrudge Australians' right to protest, but not NOW. Not during a pandemic, when our State Governments have refused a return to the footy, or the opera, or a play. Where the Qld Labor Govt has shut the borders and slowly strangulating the lives of our businesses. We are better than this. For those who have put their own lives and countless others at risk, what makes you think you don’t have to follow the rules that everyone else does? And at so much cost to countless families, businesses and the economy. And please, don’t tell me you tried to follow social distancing rules. What’s good for the goose is good the gander. And where is our hapless Premier? Queenslanders should get angry come 31 October 2020 and condemn this Labor State Government for its hypocrisy in its failure to act. See more

07.01.2022 Our lives are defined not by the challenges that come our way but by how we deal with them. Certainly on the Sunshine Coast these have been dark times for many.... I took the chance to reflect on the experience we have been through as a region and what I am intending to do to try and help us recover in the months ahead. You can watch my full speech below.
