25.01.2022 Welcome back from your holiday period. Now smell the roses.... "Are you serious?" you ask... Well, in a fashion, yes. I am serious in that we take stock of what we did last year and start afresh with a new mindset about our health and safety.... The most important thing on our list right now is air quality ... leading to respiratory problems. Asthma is now a big thing. If you are an asthmatic, we would suggest you keep your puffer and spacer close at hand and use it as necessary. Please dont be a martyr. Stay indoors if you do not need to go out and keep an eye on your neighbours especially the young and the elderly. And come and do a first aid course and learn how to assist a casualty with breathing difficulties.

24.01.2022 Hi all, we are currently having some website and email issues, please bear with us we hope to have it sorted today, if you need to contact us just send a Facebook message

24.01.2022 Another warm day today coupled with smoke haze.!!! Stay hydrated and if you do not need to be outside, work from home or stay in the office. People do die from severe asthma and heat stroke. Check out our website at www.1sdotraining.com.au and do a first aid course.

23.01.2022 Education on how to wear a facemask .

22.01.2022 We at 1SDO Training would like to thank all our frontline workers in their endeavours. We would also like to let our members of the Victorian police force know that we too are thinking of the fallen and injured. We wish all the members of the force a SAFE shift every time you put the uniform on.

21.01.2022 As we approach the weekend, we are looking forward to the news about whether or not the lockdown will be extended. Either way, let us stay safe. Wash your hands with soap and hot water and sanitise regularly. Be vigilant and maintain your 1.5m social distance bubble.... Wear your mask, and most of all, continue to be safe and Covid conscious.. Need an accredited course in infection control? Then check out our website at www.1sdotraining.com.au or call us at 03 9017 5590 and book. Looking forward to seeing you at our Covid Safe training centre..

20.01.2022 During a routine collar change on a cheetah, things took a turn for the worse when it stopped breathing. Vet Emily and her amazing team went above and beyond to keep the big cat conscious - even giving him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation

19.01.2022 Due to government regulation, we now need to wear masks at all times when out of our homes. The fines for being caught without are exorbitant for a reason. We do not want to continue the spread of this virus, especially to our loved ones. All students coming in to train are required to wash their hands, sanitise, and wear gloves and mask for the duration of their course.... We have packs of nitrile gloves and individual disposable masks for sale to the public if needed, OR individual personal packs containing a pair of gloves, one disposable mask and an alcohol wipe. Just drop by or call to purchase (onsite purchases only- no deliveries).

17.01.2022 Sunday Courses in November: Sunday 8th & Sunday 22nd HLTAID001 Provide CPR and HLTAID003 Provide first Aid 9:30 am... Enrol directly through our website and secure a place (only 5 places per session available due to our covid safe plan!) www.1sdotraining.com.au

17.01.2022 On behalf of the team at 1SDO Training, we would like to inform the community that we are still operating as business as usual, however, our class sizes have been reduced to fulfil the required social distances as well as the recommended hand washing and sanitising protocols to stay safe and healthy. Let me say that cardiac arrest does not know that Covid-19 exists and as a result, we should all maintain our training and preparedness.

16.01.2022 Do find you are having some difficulty breathing?

15.01.2022 Naomie is a school teacher. She is passionate about helping young people reach their potential. But students with type 1 diabetes sometimes need a little bit of... extra help. And we cant expect teachers to be experts in everything. Weve developed the Diabetes in Schools program to help teachers like Naomie provide support to students with type 1 diabetes while at school. This program, funded through the National Diabetes Services Scheme NDSS, aims to give schools the knowledge, training and tools they need to help their students thrive, and to give families peace of mind while their child is at school. With the new Diabetes in Schools program, children living with type 1 diabetes will have a team around them to support and encourage them to reach their potential. It takes a team to support their dreams.

13.01.2022 This Tuesday evening the 3rd March, 1SDO Training in association with the Rotary Club of Glen Eira had the privilege of donating a Heartsine Samaritan 500P Defibrillator to Rippon Lea Estate. After a tireless fundraising effort by the Rotary Club, enough money was collected to buy a defibrillator which we were delighted to supply for them. Shaun presented the new defibrillator to Matt from Rippon Lea at the last Rotary meeting and dinner. We are looking forward to training the Rippon Lea staff. Congratulations Rotary Glen Eira and Rippon Lea. Hopefully you will never need to use it!

09.01.2022 So are you safe? Better still, would you know how to treat a casualty if the unthinkable was to happen?

09.01.2022 Worksafe Victorias approach to the Coronavirus

09.01.2022 With Valentines Day coming up, we wanted to take the time to highlight this remarkable couple; the founders of Nordisk Insulinlaboratorium, which would go on t...o become Novo Nordisk. Both August and Marie were successful scientists in their own right, and we believe their story of love and passion for research is worth highlighting! August was a distinguished professor at the University of Copenhagen and received a Nobel Prize in 1920 for his work in physiology. In 1914, Marie Krogh became the fourth Danish woman to earn a Doctorate in Medicine. Marie and August had a particular interest in diabetes, as she herself was diagnosed with type 2. In 1922, the couple was invited to the US by researchers at Yale, who asked August to lecture throughout the country on his medical research. This is where the story of Nordisk Insulinlaboratorium began. While in the US, the couple heard daily reports of people with diabetes being treated with insulin a hormone discovered in 1921 by two Canadian researchers, Banting and Best. This caught their attention and sparked August to write a letter to The University of Toronto where the first life-saving insulin extract had been produced. Writing this letter was a move that would end up saving countless lives, including his own wifes. The letter was well-received, and they returned to Copenhagen in December 1922 with permission to manufacture and sell insulin in Scandinavia. August founded the company Nordisk Insulinlaboratorium in partnership with Doctor Hans Christian Hagedorn and financial assistance from Pharmacist August Kongsted. August and Maries passion for science and diabetes treatment changed the way insulin was produced and helped distribute this life-changing hormone to hundreds of thousands of people living with diabetes. August not only saved his own wifes life, but numerous others and helped make Denmarks Novo Nordisk the largest producer of insulin in the world today. What an incredible story!

02.01.2022 With Covid-19 rearing its head, the below video relating to the cancellation of the Melbourne Grand Prix at this late stage serves as a reminder to wash your hands with soap and warm to hot water for at least 20 seconds and avoid touching your T-spot (Face). Doctors are saying that we should not be shaking hands, rather touching "elbows" instead.
