21.01.2022 We were excited today to donate and deliver our first Christmas Tree for this year to Michael Sukkar's Office, Deakin Electorate to help and support the Deakin Christmas Giving Tree Appeal. Thank you so much Michael for all of the support you have given to our Group this year - for helping to raise the profile of Scouting, for working together to give back to our local community, and helping support our trees sales which also supports local school fundraisers. Thank you We will also be collecting items at our hall for the Christmas Giving Tree Appeal if members of the community would like to drop them off with us. These will be delivered to Michael's office just before Christmas.

19.01.2022 Wow what an interesting year for 1st Croydon Hills, a great year for the youth, learning and taking on adventures. Unfortunately this culminated in the theft of our Tandem trailer 3 weeks ago from the back yard of our hall while selling xmas trees. Then 2 days after our Group end of year break up party our shed was broken into, fences damaged doors damaged and gear stolen. Fortunately this year we have been supported by our families through fundraising and will be able to ...recover. We will be looking into security cameras and bollards to beef up our security effort, to ensure that when the youth in the group are ready to go adventuring the equipment will be there for their use. While we’ve been in lockdown, our wonderful tree supplier has been busy growing trees and now they’re ready for you and your family 1st Croydon Hills Scout Group are once again selling fresh pine Christmas trees, which are now available to pre-order. This year we are offering a ‘click and collect’ facility or we can do a contac...tless delivery to you (if you are within 10km from our hall) for an extra $10. We also have tree stands available to order. Our trees are part of the Trees for Schools Program. Scouting is about helping others and making our communities a better place to live. Scouts Australia has stopped all membership fees until 31 March 2021 to support its youth and family members during COVID-19. For now, its 56,061 youth members will remain connected through modified Zoom programs that foster their development and character socially, physically, intellectually and emotionally. While digging into our financial reserves we are asking you and our community for support to keep o...ur programs affordable (approximately costs an amazing $8 per session per youth member). For only $20 your entry in our Monster Raffle could win you fabulous prizes while helping a great youth organisation. Tickets Books cost $20 (10 tickets @ $2 each) and there’s more than 100 prizes including a car a Holden Trax (1.4 litre, turbo automatic) and a family holiday to the Gold Coast. The Scouting movement is almost 100% run by volunteers. It relies on low cost membership fees and volunteer fundraising to remain affordable to families. Children and youth benefit from its fun and engaging programs aimed at developing self-fulfilled individuals who positively contribute to society. Programs include outdoor activities and participation in skills development through teamwork, problem solving and leadership.
