16.01.2022 Tonight our Joeys took some beautiful natural materials found on a nature walk and turned them into something new! What a great way to get them outdoors and bring nature into the home. (From Wombat)
15.01.2022 Our First virtual Pack Meeting admirably run by Akela, 20/04/2020. After a virtual flag break and a short but moving presentation about why we observe Anzac Day, we moved on to the main event, the ceremonial making of the ANZAC biscuits (that's cookies for all those brought up on Sesame Street). Apparently, no kitchens were harmed in the making of these biscuits. A successful taste test was held, and friendly banter was passed around. The meeting concluded with a virtual closing ceremony. It was mentioned in closing that Akela will miss having the mute all participants when we're finally back in the hall.
14.01.2022 "Last night our Joeys had a baking extravaganza, led by our amazing Cook-atoo! May the 4th be with you all and come join the dark side Luke, we have milk and cookies " a la Wombat
12.01.2022 Reptile Night Online is supporting growling grass frog conservation. Event details: https://www.facebook.com/events/294893181771692 Among Australia’s larges...t frogs, these beauties love hanging out in the reeds and grasses around ponds and creeks, feeding on a variety of insects, reptiles, fish and even other frogs. They were once one of the most common frogs in south-eastern Australia but are now struggling against a range of threats. These include the destruction and alteration of the wetlands and waterways they call home, predation by introduced fish, pollution and the deadly Chytrid fungus which is devastating amphibian populations around the world. Reptile Night Online is raising money to help researchers reintroduce the growling grass frog to La Trobe Wildlife Sanctuary. Donate to this work at bit.ly/repnight20 (Click ‘BOOK NOW’ and select a ticket quantity to access the donations page) and join us on Facebook on Monday to learn about Melbourne’s amazing reptiles. 11.01.2022 Tonight's Cub Meetup on Zoom was a resounding success with everyone turning their old wooden spoons into treasures for their local Spoonvilles. In addition to the amazing craftwork, we told stories, talked about the old days and generally had a fun time. Below is our 1st Eaglemont Cub Pack Spoonville 2020. Thanks, Akela!
09.01.2022 The Inaugural 1st Eaglemont Cubs Post-Lockdown Re-opening Night Hike 25 May, 2020 went off with nary a hitch. Chil led the SW expedition across well trodden but somewhat muddy terrain from the Hall to Hays Paddock and back. Akela led the NE group up the Yarra from Banyule Flats to Wombat Bend then back. The photo is from the suspension bridge at Wombat Bend where we turned around. All good scary fun.
