17.01.2022 We are getting ready to start a new year in scouting! 1st Hastings Scout Group has been running for over 90 years in Hastings! In that time the group has worked hard to support our community, to help create independent and confident youth. I’m sure there are many of you out there that have been part of scouting at some point in your life! It is an amazing way for youth to learn new skills, build confidence, grow independence and help their community.... Well we need your help! Currently we have very low numbers in our Cubs (7 -10yrs) & Scouts (11-14yrs) which is threatening to close our group. We are seeking kids within these ages to come and try scouting! Scouting is an amazing way for youth to make friends, build social skills, learn valuable like skills such as leadership and responsibility, go on adventures they normally wouldn’t, and try things that they may never have thought of. 13.01.2022 This weekend our cubs and scouts are taking part in The Big Australian Campout! They’ve set their tents up at home, cooking their dinner outside and enjoying some back yard camping! All though we can’t meet face to face for a while, we will still be meeting weekly! And engaging the youth in scouting at home!

13.01.2022 Scouting can literally take you to the Moon! 50 years ago, Neil Armstrong became the first Man on the Moon. But before that, did you know that he was a Cub and ...went on to earn Boy Scouts of America's top award, the Eagle Scout? Not only was the first Man on the Moon a Scout, but one of the first items on the Moon was a World Scout Badge. In fact, most astronauts during the Space Race were Scouts. Now when you hear Neil's other famous quote, "The Eagle has landed" you will know just how true that was.

We are opening our doors to one and all to come and have a look at what we do! 06.01.2022 Yesterday our leaders, Cubs, Scouts and parents were busy providing 300 Free egg an bacon sandwiches, raising the flag and selling sausages at the the at the Hastings Foreshore Australia Day event! It was a great day with a lot of laughs, and even our littlest future Cub Scout helping out!

06.01.2022 Over the next few weeks 1st Hastings Scout group with be holding Open House evenings on a Monday and Tuesday, This means kids of all ages can come and try, there will be plenty of leaders there to answer questions and lots of fun to be had! Currently 1st Hastings doesn’t have a Joey mob, but with enough interest and a willing adult to become a leader, we will look to opening one. ... Monday nights run 6:00pm to 7:30pm ( this is our cub night) Tuesday nights run 7:00pm- 8:30pm (this is our scout night) We welcome all age groups to join us at our open house either night. Each week we present them with new challenges, new activities all via the web, we are still doing badge work and even organising digital camps.
