24.01.2022 Water slide night 2019

20.01.2022 Bega Valley Bushfire Emergency. UPDATE - 7:20pm 31 December 2019 NEW INFORMATION *The Snowy Mountains Highway over Brown Mountain has reopened.... But that comes with some advice and things to consider: You should only attempt to travel the route if you have a full tank of fuel, we can not guarantee fuel supplies along the route. Please drive with your head lights on and be aware that smoke will impact on your visibility. Please drive to the conditions and with caution. Police will be monitoring traffic along the route. * The Bermagui - Tathra Road has reopened, allowing access from Narooma to the Snowy Mountains Highway via Bermagui, Tathra, Bega, Bemboka. Drive with caution, this is a narrow road with 8 single lane bridges. Take care at the end of this long day. *Mount Darragh Road is open, drive with extreme caution. *A communinty fire briefing will be held at the Bega Showground at 8am, January 1. The session will be live streamed to this Facebook page. *RFS crews are working hard to reopen the Princes Highway between Brogo and Cobargo. Other RFS priorities are property protection at Cobargo, Quaama and surrounding towns and villages and fire containment at Wyndham. The RFS is seeing an easing in fire conditions which allows for some strategy and planning for the days ahead, but there is still a lot of fire in the landscape. RFS volunteers from out of the area are being mustered to come in and relieve local crews. *Essential Energy is working hard to restore power in a number of locations including Bemboka. You can keep track of outages here - https://www.essentialenergy.com.au/outages-an/power-outages *Sightseers in some locations are causing an issue for emergency services, please stay away from places like Cobargo which has been heavily impacted. You are placing yourself and others at risk. The Berrambool and Pambula Sporting Complexes and Tathra Country Club are now open for people looking for a place to shelter. These are ideally suited as camping locations. Limited toilet and shower facilities are available. Pambula Surf Club is also open for showers. These places are in addition the evacuation centres established the Bega Showground, Club Sapphire in Merimbula and the Eden Fishermen's Club/Eden Country Club. People with animals should head Bega Showground. Planning is underway to meet the needs of the evacuation centres overnight an into the coming days. Due to the loss of disinfection infrastructure through the impact of fire Bega Valley Shire Council has introduced Boil Water Notices for Quaama, Cobargo, Bermagui, Beauty Point, Fairhaven, Wallaga Lake, Wallaga Lake Heights, Wallaga Lake Koori Village and Akolele, as well as trunk main customers in these areas. At Bemboka - potable water, for drinking purposes only, is available at Bemboka fire shed. BYO container. Tap water at Bemboka should only be used for firefighting, there is ash in the town's water supply. Be aware that the ash in the water could damage home hot water systems if used. Other water supplies in all other areas of the Bega Valley Shire are currently unaffected. Council is continuing to supply water to all reservoirs but in some locations demand is great and placing pressure on the water available. * As road closures continue - time and planning is underway now to secure food and fuel supplies. * For our friends here from Victoria, the Princes Highway to the south is likely to be closed for a number of days. The best way for you to stay in touch with the Victorian bush fire emergency is via the CFA and Victorian emergency channels. * If you are in place at Bermagui, Tathra, Merimbula, Pambula, Tura Beach and Eden and you are as comfortable as you can be in these conditions, then stay where you are. *Council's call centre is operational and able to answer questions to the best of our ability on bush fire related maters - call 6499 2222 or 6499 2345. All other questions regarding general council issues like rates and Fogo bags should wait until after Jan 2. *If you are want to assist and help those impacted the Mayor's Bushfire Fund is taking donations - BSB 633000 Acct 157357567. Thank you. OVERVIEW Evacuation centres are in place at Bega Showground, Club Sapphire in Merimbula and the Eden Fishermen's Club/Eden Country Club. We will get through this.

20.01.2022 One very wet night at scouts with a water fight between Scouts and Venturers. Vents were prepared for a fight but they brought a knife to a gun fight. Scouts out gunned them big time. I don't think having 2000lts of water and a fire pump wasn't fair. Check out the photos.

We have had many volunteers for both committees but are still looking for support. - Fund Raising The fires interrupted / melted summer for so many so a HUGE thanks to those who have been recycling the cans and bottles over that time. 03.01.2022 FIRE UPDATE - MUMBULLA MOUNTAIN The RFS have received a number of enquiries from people in the Bega area about the visible fire activity on the southern side of... Mumbulla Mountain. They are very aware of the situation and actively monitoring the movement with crews on the ground and working tonight. Their advice is the fire has not progressed much today and under the predicted weather conditions tonight they believe roughly the same progression will be replicated. See more
