14.01.2022 Check out a great story from 9News in case you missed it on TV.
08.01.2022 With the current COVID-19 Restrictions, a normal Expedition with 5-6 Venturers cannot be completed. To ensure Venturers who are soon turning 18 and still need t...o complete an Expedition are not disadvantaged, the Victorian Venturer Council has approved temporary adaptations that uphold the high standard of the Venturer Award Scheme, but also allow for completion of the Expedition badge virtually. Venturers will not be expected to physically complete a journey (walk, canoe, bicycle, etc) and the VVC will provide a panel of Examiners for Venturers undertaking VA or QS level Expeditions. Venturers will still complete the planning and preparation phases of the badge, with Recognition of Prior Learning implemented using previous hiking experience. This also applies for Ground Breaker Groups and the Adventurous Journey requirements. To see the full requirements, visit the Award Scheme COVID-19 Provisions here: https://scoutsvictoria.com.au//vvc-virtual-venturing-award

05.01.2022 Disappointed Hoadley Hide isn't running this year? Getting bored at home? Don’t worry - we’ve got you covered! Today Hoadley Hide is launching Hoadley Hide @ H...ome - a Virtual VA Initiative Course. Each weekend for the next 4 weeks, Venturers will be able to register to take part in Hoadley Hide @ Home for that weekend. On the Friday night, we’ll send you all the challenges you’ll need to complete. At the end of the weekend, you’ll submit your completed challenges, and we’ll assess your completion, then send you a certificate and a Hoadley Hide Big 5 badge. You’ll also be able to share your efforts on social media, using the hashtag #HoadleyHideAtHome Challenges will include many of the things Hoadley Hide normally has: Navigation, Construction, Problem Solving, Cooking, and even Walking, all while we ensure we uphold our duty to stop the spread of the Coronavirus. Best of all, the Victorian Venturer Council has endorsed this as a valid VA Initiative Course, so you’ll also be able to use it as part of your Queen’s Scout!
